My Favorite Game Followed Me! -
Chapter 498
Anton exited the 50th floor of the dungeon and headed straight to the guild branch located beside the dungeon portal. Elianah, his elf point of contact to the guild, met him in a private booth when he told the receptionist that he had just exited the floor and would like to talk to someone to sell the loot that he had gathered.
“Based on the speed you completed the floor, I assumed that you didn’t encounter any difficulty in completing it?” Elianah asked the moment they settled in the booth.
“Yes. It’s as easy as the 20th floor. My main issue is, the monster behaved like artificial beings that they were with set behavior, and to be honest with you, the main reason why I’m delving into the dungeon is for me to have combat experience. I need enemies that would think like actual sentient beings. So I will not be continuing in the dungeon of Balathar and would like to go to one of the high-level dungeons. Tobias told me that the behavior of the monsters in the high-level dungeon was the same as that of actual sentient monsters. He told me that that was one of the reasons why the high-level dungeon was extremely dangerous.”
“The kingdom of Ormunda has several high-level dungeons, but the nearest one is a little farther than normal. You will have to travel around 10 hours by carriage to reach it from the capital.”
“Am I allowed to fly or teleport there?”
When Anton asked that practical question, Elianah was startled. Anton knew that the main problem was that a lot of the guild staff still considered him a young adventurer who needed guidance. He was young and he did need guidance, but he was also powerful and sometimes, Anton thought that they forgot about that fact.
“I will go ahead and work on a permit so you can fly there. The name of the dungeon is the Corridor of Amuneta. Supposedly, Amuneta was an Invincible Wizard who made his tower in that location and surrounded it with a maze a few thousand years ago. When he died, his tower became a dungeon. It was just a legend, though, and to be honest with you, based on my knowledge about dungeons, I don’t believe a single Invincible Wizard can create such a dungeon. I will give you the book that contains the information on the monsters that can be found in that dungeon and what materials are needed so you can complete diamond-level quests. The deepest dungeon you can delve there is the 30th level. Since it's a bit far, a new point of contact might be assigned to you, but since it’s a high-level dungeon, the guild staff there will probably treat you as an ordinary adventurer. That means that you will need to deal with any available staff, and that they might not assign you a dedicated point of contact.”
Anton told Elianah that he understood and gave her the mana stones that he would like to sell. After an hour, Elianah returned with his bank card with its increased savings. She also handed him the permit to fly to the dungeon after he exited the city, and the book that contained which materials he could harvest from the monsters in the Corridor of Amuneta. Flinx muttered inwardly at the need for him to exit the kingdom before he was allowed to fly. The fact that the permit cost him 100 gold coins added to his slight bitterness about the restriction. He was happy about the huge amount of coins stored in his account, though. It was more or less 168,000 gold coins.
Anton wanted to present that gold coins to his father. He wanted to make sure that his family would be comfortable in the kingdom. Yes, they might be living on the fringes, but upon reflection, Anton thought that he preferred it that way.
After his business with Elianah had concluded, Anton immediately returned home. The main reason why he wanted to was to check if his father or sister had sent him a letter.
When Torbin saw him, he called everyone, and they all welcomed him.
“Did a letter come?” Anton asked, and Torbin simply shook his head.
Torban gave him a list of the items that had already been identified by the mages they hired to identify the items that he brought from the 20th floor of the dungeon of Balathar. Because of that, the budget that Ronia was keeping was supposed to last for a couple of months was depleted.
The cost of identifying the items was very high, and to be honest, Anton could have done so easily, but he didn’t want to bother. It didn’t matter. He had a large amount of coins anyway.
Anton then asked the four guards and the two maids to follow him to the treasure room. When they arrived there, he retrieved the items that he had gotten from the fiftieth floor, and everyone gasped. They understood that the items were powerful based on the enchantment glow that the items were emitting.
“Go ahead and have these items identified. For payment, go ahead and sell one or two of them. For the household budgets, you can also sell some of them if needed,” Anton told everyone.
The maids and the guards gaped at him.
“Sir Anton. You can’t do that!” Ronia almost shouted.
“Why not? Are any of you going to steal them?” Everyone looked at each other and at Anton unbelievingly. Then the six somehow came into the same conclusion at the same time. Torbin then explained the situation to Anton.
“I forget that you’re new here in the kingdom. Since we signed up as workers in the Kingdom of Ormunda’s job department, we signed a magical contract with them. The advantage of doing so was the higher pay. Not only that, if we’re mistreated, we can appeal to Ormunda, and an investigation will occur, and if a fault is found, the employer will be fined, and the fine will go to the workers. The same thing for the employers. If they complained of poor quality of work or criminal activity by the workers, the agency would then conduct an investigation. The mages of Ormunda are well versed in finding the true culprit of any problem.”
“The problem right now, Sir Anton, is that handling your treasure is beyond our job description. You should hire a butler,” Lisa told him.
“I don’t want to do that since I will be very busy. I will be transferring to the Corridor of Amuneta and diving into the 30th floor. Can I just promote one of you as the butler, and then you handle the house issues? Regarding funds, you can sell these items. I will be back once a week and that meant that the treasure room will just increase. As a reward for all of you, you can choose one item from the bunch except for the ones that haven’t been identified yet,” Anton told his maids and his guards.
Everyone gaped at him again, but after a minute, all of them decisively took one item from the collection, and their faces were full of happiness. The guards chose weapons or armor that would increase their fighting capabilities, and the maids chose the most expensive based on the list that Anton gave them.
So, basically, from then on, Anton would not give any more funds to Ronia, who everyone chose to be the butler. The household funds would come from selling some of the treasure that was in the treasure room. Ronia also asked if she could hire another maid, and Anton gave his approval.
Anton told everyone that he would be leaving the next day to go to the dungeon of Amuneta, and based on everyone’s reaction, they were excited at the prospect of knowing that their master was delving into a high-level dungeon.
