My Favorite Game Followed Me! -
Chapter 499
Anton thought of the fact that he was being lazy again when it came to his employees. This kind of behavior was the one that he had when he was in the Amelia. He left everything in the house that he had just purchased to people whom he didn’t really know, but the crux of the matter was, he didn’t value anything that he left in that house, even the supposedly powerful enchanted items.
At first, he thought of leaving the minor health and minor mana potions there as well, but since the potions didn’t take up a lot of space in his inventory, he just left them in his inventory. He thought of sending more potions to his sister and decided to write a letter to her asking her about it before doing so.
Anton immediately wrote the letter, informing Anna that he would be switching to the 30th floor of the Corridor of Amuneta, and asked her if she needed the potions or more mana stones. He wrote another letter to his father asking if he needed anything, including the potions, or even the mana stones, for that matter.
Early the next day, Anton joined everyone for breakfast. After that, he told everyone that he would be leaving for the Corridor of Amuneta. Ronia and Torbin assured him that they would make sure that everything in the household would be alright.
Outside his house, Anton decided to walk to the Mage Guild to send his letters since it was near enough and it was a nice day. He liked Ormunda. The section of the city where his house was located was peaceful enough. Not only that, the citizens walking in the streets, whatever race or species they may be, were relatively orderly. He liked the feeling of living in a magical, peaceful kingdom. All the glitz and glamour of a magical place were there without the chaos. He knew from talking to Tobias, Flint, and Elianah that not all parts of the kingdom were orderly. The huge kingdom, this city in particular, had everything that a large and powerful city would offer, even its seedy underbelly, which, according to Tobias, although he said that it was just rumors, that the underbelly was still firmly in the hands of Invincible Wizards.
The other adventurers that he was familiar with also told Anton that the underground powers of the kingdom were something one shouldn’t attempt to enter unless one was desperate enough to do so. Flint said that the dark organization was as powerful or even more powerful than the organization that was in the light, which ruled the kingdom. Of course, all of what the dwarf had said were rumors since the dwarf knew nothing about the criminal organization of the kingdom.
The main reason why Anton was thinking about such a topic was that it tantalized his imagination.
While walking to the Mage Guild, Anton noticed his Diablo II icon tattoo located in his wrist. He was thankful that his favorite game followed him into this world. This dark and wonderful world. His theories that someday, a last bastion would form and that the humans would resort to defending it against the undead might very well come true, but he couldn’t deny that this second life that he had was truly an adventure.
He even wondered if someday, Anton and his family would have to run to the dark organization of the kingdom of Ormunda to escape the undead. Once he arrived at the Mage Guild, Anton discarded his grim imaginings. After he sent his two letters, he flagged a carriage and told the driver to send him to the gate nearest the Corridor of Amuneta. The driver then told him that it would be a two-hour ride. Anton just sighed at how long the drive would be and how large the kingdom of Ormunda was.
The moment he arrived at one of Ormunda’s gates that were supposed to lead into the place where the Corridor of Amuneta, the driver woke him up from his nap.
“Are you able to drive me to Amuneta?” Anton asked the carriage driver.
The carriage driver said that he could, but Anton was surprised at how costly it would be. He could afford it, but when the driver said that it would take seven hours, Anton knew that he would just fly to the place and use other spells to push himself faster.
Anton showed his permit to fly to the guards at the gates, so when he flew, no one would try to hit him with a spell or with an arrow. He thought that the guards would just casually check the permit, but they actually inspected the permit minutely. After that, they give him the go-ahead to fly. He just shook his head and walked a distance before flying using his Telekinesis spell.
Once he was high up but low enough to still see the road, Anton started flying. He needed to see the road since, according to Elianah, the small town that housed the entrance to the Corridor of Amuneta was along the road. He flew as fast as he could, but Anton felt that it was still a little slow, so he tried supplementing his speed by casting a spell behind him.
The spell that he chose was the Druid’s Arctic Blast. Casting the spell behind him pushed him so fast that Anton had to stop to cast all of his defensive spells to make the travel smoother. Anton laughed while he was flying. He was enjoying the fast movement speed that was caused by casting the Arctic Blast behind him. He felt like Superman.
Soon, Anton saw the small town in the distance. According to Elianah, the small town nearest Ormunda in this location was the town that housed the entrance to the Corridor of Amuneta. It took him just a couple of hours to reach the high-level dungeon. When he got near enough, Anton flew down and made sure that the effects of his defensive buffs were turned off, but he didn’t dispel his defenses. This was a high-level dungeon, and that meant that the people in this location would all be high level.
There was a token gate at the entrance of the town, and behind the gate was a large building that Anton assumed was the soldiers’ barracks, since soldiers kept coming in and out of there. When he arrived at the gate, Anton showed his Adventurer’s Guild Diamond Rank card and his flying permit. After a few minutes of reviewing his credentials, the soldiers let him in.
The moment he entered the town, he wasn’t surprised at the opulence of the buildings inside. With how many coins high-level adventurers had, he was sure that any service that would cater to them would be the best of the best.
The hotel looked ten times better than the one in the beginner’s dungeon, and that one already impressed him at how ostentatious it was. The opulence of the hotel walks the thin line to becoming tacky. The restaurant slash tavern beside it was humongous as well. What took Anton’s breath away was the people. Almost every adventurer that he could see was wearing glowing items, which signified how powerful their items were supposed to be. For one second, Anton felt like he had entered a Massive Multiplayer Online Game, and he entered the map for high-level players with their glittering weapons and armor. It had the same vibe.
Even though he didn’t need those items, he felt so underdressed that he knew that if he spent a long time in this place, he might be forced to purchase glowing items himself so he could fit in, or else he might develop some sort of insecurity. He then remembered that once he completed a floor in the high-level dungeons, he would probably find a lot of items that he could use to pretend to be one of the high-level adventurers.
