Anton learned from the property agent that he would need to become a citizen of the kingdom of Orduna before he could purchase a property. Still, as with any place in different dimensions, the power of wealth was sometimes all one needed to solve problems. The property agent said that his Adventurer’s Guild gold card would greatly facilitate the creation of his citizen identity. He didn’t even have to do anything and let the agent do all the work.

He gave Rino, the property agent, a couple of hundred gold coins, and after an hour, he returned with papers informing him that he was now a citizen of Ormunda. Anton then told Rino his requirements for a house that he would like to purchase. He wanted a simple house that could accommodate him comfortably, and it should have a bedroom, a kitchen, and a bathroom.

Rino led him to a nice little two-story house nearby, but admitted to him that it was a little small, especially if he was planning to have a family someday. Anton admitted to the agent that this was going to be a temporary house. He just didn’t know how long he would use it for, and most of the time, he would be beneath the Dungeon of Balathar anyway.

He also told the agent that once his father was back from his journey, he would buy a huge manor. The agent’s eyes glittered when he heard that Anton was planning to purchase a huge property. The fact that Anton purchased the two-story house immediately, paying using the adventurer’s guild bank card, and the fact that Anton mentioned that he would be delving into the Dungeon of Balathar, led the agent to understand that Anton was a very rich man.

The house cost Anton three thousand gold coins. After he paid, he only had to wait a couple of hours before the deed was given to him with his name already in it. Rino then reminded Anton that he would need to pay the property tax every year, and after asking for a promise from Anton that he would look for him the moment he wanted to purchase a manor, the agent left.

The house was fully furnished. It was owned by a merchant who died while traveling with his family. The agent’s company handled the cleaning of the house and the removal of personal effects like clothes and paintings of the merchant and his family. The only thing they left that added to the value of the house was the furniture.

Anton briefly wondered if he needed to hire a maid, but decided against it. He still didn’t want to deal with other people. He then went outside the house after completing his inspection of the whole property. He wanted to send a letter to Anna informing him of his new address.

Tobias, the old mage who was part of the guild staff, informed him of several ways to send a message. He could do it old-school by sending a letter or sending a magical message through the adventurer guild or the mage guild. Both guilds had a branch near his house, and Anton decided to go to the mage guild since he was curious about the establishment.

“Good afternoon, sir. How may I help you?” Said of the lady mage who was working as a receptionist for the mage guild.

“Hello. I wanted to send a letter to my sister. Her name is Anna Sunder, and she’s a student of Supreme Munetta at the Academy of the School of Evocation or something.”

“We can help you with that. That will be one gold coin. May I have the letter and the payment, please?” The receptionist asked.

“I still haven’t written the letter yet. Can you give me a few minutes?” Anton said, embarrassed at his lack of forethought.

“Not a problem. You can use the seats and tables there,” The lady said while pointing at a rest area to the left.

Anton immediately went to the rest section and wrote a brief letter informing his sister of his new address. He wrote in the letter that he wouldn’t be at the house all the time and should be delving in the dungeon, so if she was going to send a letter, she could use her raven. The window to his bedroom would be open, and the raven could enter and place the letter there.

He wasn’t worried about any burglars entering his house because, first, he didn’t have anything there that was worth stealing, and second, supposedly, the security in this section of the kingdom was top-notch.

After he was done writing, Anton returned to the receptionist and gave the letter and the gold coin to her. Anton was a little surprised at how costly sending the message considering that the academy was nearby.

“They were probably going to use magic,” Anton thought, then left the mage guild.

Since he had nothing else to do, Anton decided to explore the places near the house that he had bought. There was a nearby wet market that sold all kinds of meat, fish, fruits, and vegetables. Since he was there, he decided to purchase a lot of things, including a humongous amount of spices. He knew that it would be better if he just continued purchasing cooked food, at least with those, anytime he got hungry, he could cook it anytime he wanted, but the novelty of cooking food while he was inside the dungeon was something that he was a little excited to experience.

The fact that he had access to something that would provide him with recipes, including video tutorials, added to his desire to try cooking while he was inside the dungeon.

Anton wanted to shop some more because he had a lot of coins. He still had more than eighteen thousand gold coins, but he found that he didn’t need anything. He decided to return to his house to rest. At first, he thought of leveling up his barbarian character, but the fact that he could do it while his summons killed the monsters on the twentieth floor meant that it would be better for him to do it then.

When Anton returned home, he went directly to his room and activated a Frozen Orb air conditioner. Then he went to the bathroom, planning to take a bath. Surprisingly, there was running water. Did that mean he would have some kind of water bill every month? He decided to ask Rino, the property agent, the next time he passed by the agent’s property company.

He didn’t use the water from the pipes since he wanted to bathe in his mana water. The advantages that he would receive from the magic water were too numerous, and it was easy enough for him to fill a bathtub with it. Just a few casts of his Frozen Orb spell, with its mana manipulated to turn it into water, filled the tub right away. Anton then heated his bathwater using one of his fire spells, and soon he was soaking comfortably under hot mana water.

After he was done bathing, he spent the rest of the evening wasting his hours re-watching The Big Bang Theory. In the middle of numbing his mind with the jokes being delivered by Sheldon, Leonard, Howard, and Raj, he heard a noise from outside his window. When he opened it, it was Anna’s tiny raven with a letter tied to its feet.

The letter was short, just acknowledging his new address and that she was having an exciting time learning magic. He was glad that Anna was beginning to enjoy herself. That meant that just like him, his sister probably started her journey towards mending her broken heart.
