Chapter 626: Chapter 400: Tier-6 Poisonous Fog_3
In terms of controlling puppets, the Spirit Seed Gathering Dragon Skill far surpassed the Spirit Puppet Skill, so even a Seventh Level might not be able to see through it.
After Owen Bertram finished sorting through his "offerings" from Brother, he opened his eyes. The Mechanical Dao Soldiers created by the Bean Soldiers had completely turned the surrounding area upside down, finding all the fragments and piling them up like a mountain!
Owen Bertram discussed with Brother and decided not to consume them immediately. Instead, they would wait for all the wreckage of the Five-toothed Battleships of Lock Beach to be gathered, and Little Loach would swallow them all in one gulp.
Then they found two more clues, but neither of them were Five-toothed Battleships. As it was getting dark, they dug up half of a Five-toothed Battleship at the fifth clue location, making their haul for the day quite bountiful.
But Owen Bertram didn’t plan to stop just because it was getting dark. Darkness was not a problem for the Sixth Great Realm or the Bean Soldiers. He continued towards the next clue.
But there was trouble here.
...
As soon as Owen Bertram arrived, he knew this was the Five-toothed Battleship he was looking for. This huge battleship was partially sunk at the bottom of a lake, the main body mostly intact, only a transparent hole in the back of the ship’s head.
The lake was connected to a river, and this river was the largest branch of the nearby rivers, often frequented by Demon Beasts.
The ship had been turned into an underwater palace, with low-level Demon Beasts patrolling in groups. The owner of the palace was a Tier-6 Monster Beast, the Sea-devouring Catfish!
This fellow was quite ambitious, and according to the legend of the "Dragon Palace," he had set up a battleship Water Palace, complete with shrimp soldiers and crab generals. He even specifically found a Tier-5 turtle Monster Beast as a prime minister!
It probably heard that the koi had the blood of the Dragon Race and could leap through the Dragon Gate. It thought it was no different from the koi and should have the blood of the Dragon Race as well.
Owen Bertram appeared outside the sunken Five-toothed Battleship, and the Sea-devouring Catfish stretched its huge head out of the transparent hole. Its large mouth occupied more than half of its face. It roared at Owen Bertram, causing waves and countless bubbles to fly up.
You are from the Sixth Great Realm, and I am Tier-6. Are you afraid of me?!
Surrounding its Water Palace, the Demon Beasts set up a formation—crooked and twisted, jumping and shoving each other, giving them a comical look.
Owen Bertram walked through the lake without getting wet. He stood 30 feet away from the Sea-devouring Catfish with his hands behind his back and said, "I am determined to obtain this Five-toothed Battleship!"
"But I can give you a chance. I will only take the sunken ship and not touch your subordinates. If you withdraw from the sunken ship with your men, I can let bygones be bygones for your offense!"
The Sea-devouring Catfish roared continuously, showing no sign of backing down. Owen Bertram, however, smiled and said, "How about this? I will take your Water Palace and build you a new one. You won’t be at a loss."
The Sea-devouring Catfish’s big eyes spun around, and it roared again. Its subordinates started to retreat under its command.
Owen Bertram knew that the Sea-devouring Catfish would inevitably make such a choice. Judging by its behavior in constructing the Water Palace, this fellow was intelligent. It must have known that confrontation with him was a dead end. Owen Bertram didn’t even need to make a move himself; if he let the Ghost Army loose, they would consume the Sea-devouring Catfish and its subordinates without leaving a single bone.
So Owen Bertram raised his hand and took the Five-toothed Battleship wreckage while releasing a handful of Mechanical Dao Soldiers to build the Sea-devouring Catfish an underwater palace at the bottom of the sea.
Owen Bertram had originally planned to build a simple underwater house to satisfy the Sea-devouring Catfish. However, the Sea-devouring Catfish became very stubborn this time. Its huge fish eyes stared at the Mechanical Dao Soldiers, seemingly unwilling to give up until they built it a Water Palace of the same scale as the Five-toothed Battleship.
Owen Bertram suddenly guessed a possibility: Could it be that the Sea-devouring Catfish had long been dissatisfied with the Five-toothed Battleship? Although Monster Beasts were powerful, they lacked construction skills. Owen Bertram was willing to trade "one thing for another," and the Sea-devouring Catfish might have been eager to rely on him for major construction!
This Five-toothed Battleship wreckage was extremely important, and Owen Bertram thought it over and decided not to owe this cause and effect. He simply left the Bean Soldiers behind to build the Water Palace, and once it was completed, he could return.
Owen Bertram continued to head towards the next and final clue. This was where a cave and an underground river intertwined, forming a complex terrain with many lakes on the surface. The Demon Beast that dwelled here was a Tier-6 Monster Beast, and it was very likely to be the king of the Tier-6 Demon Beasts in Lock Beach—the Void Light Black Water Serpent!
As soon as Owen Bertram appeared in this area, the king sensed it. Its massive body rose from a lake, with a huge Bone Horn Treasure Pearl on its head, emitting a faint ghostly light.
Under the radiance, its figure flickered, transforming into several dozen illusions, each appearing in different parts of its territory, looking ferociously at Owen Bertram.
The illusion closest to Owen Bertram shook its upper body, its ferocious serpent head turning into a human’s, and it spoke in human language, asking, "Your Excellency, are you not pushing too far?"
Owen Bertram didn’t want to cause conflict, as his purpose in this trip was to search for the wreckage of the Five-toothed Battleships, not to hunt for Treasure Materials.
"I am searching for something. Your Excellency could set a condition, and I am willing to pay a certain price in exchange for your permission to pass."
"Are you looking for this?" One of the illusions’ tails curled up from the ground, revealing a piece of wreckage. Owen Bertram took a look and saw that it was indeed part of the Five-toothed Battleship, so he nodded, "Exactly. It seems I have not come to the wrong place."
