Chapter 109 - Hundred And Nine
Chapter 109: Chapter Hundred And Nine
"Noah?" Ryan asked, his voice filled with suspicion. "What do you need him for?"
"It’s just a personal matter," she said, her voice barely a whisper. "It’s nothing deep."
Ryan looked at her, his eyes filled with confusion. "Nothing deep? What do you mean by that?" he asked, his voice growing firmer.
Suzy stood up, her eyes filled with defiance. "It’s not something you should worry or concern yourself about," she said, her voice raised slightly.
Ryan knew that she was hiding something from him, but he also knew that he couldn’t force her to tell him the truth. He sighed, his heart heavy with frustration.
"Have you forgotten that there’s a murderer on the loose?" he asked, his voice filled with concern.
She nodded standing up straight trying to look fierce. "The more reason I need Noah’s protection," she replied, her voice gaining an edge.
Ryan knew that he had to let her go. He could feel her determination, and he knew that whenever she’s like this he would not be able to stop her.
"Very well," he said, his voice filled with a mixture of resignation and anger. "Go ahead."
He turned to Noah, who was standing nearby. "Protect her," he ordered, his voice filled with a mixture of fear and determination. "If anything happens to her this time, you will lose your head."
Noah nodded.
Suzy turned to Noah, her eyes filled with gratitude. "Freshen up and get the carriage ready," she said, her voice barely a whisper.
Noah nodded and left the training ground to do as he was told.
"I will find out what you are hiding from me," Ryan said, his voice filled with a mixture of love and fear as he walked towards her closing the little distance that existed between them. He stood inches away from her face. She could feel his hot breath on her cool skin. His eyes on hers.
She was silent, paralyzed on the spot. His gaze shifted from her eyes to her lips. He said, his voice husky, "If I kiss these lips, will it be the death of me or a cure to the poison you put in my heart?
He looked at her eyes again "Do you consider it a sin for me to have such thoughts?"
Suzy opened her mouth, but words died there. She couldn’t find the words to express how she felt.
Just then, Noah interrupted them. "The carriage is ready, Your Grace," he said, his voice filled with respect.
Suzy nodded, her heart racing. She knew that she had to do this, for Cassandra, for herself.
As she turned to leave, Ryan reached out and took her hand. "Be careful," he said, his voice filled with concern.
Suzy nodded. With that, she turned and walked away, her footsteps fading into the distance. Ryan watched her go, his heart heavy with worry.
He watched her until she was out of sight, then he turned and continued addressing and having training sessions with the other guards.

As Suzy and Noah approached the carriage, Suzy handed the coachman the address. "Take us there," she instructed, her voice filled with a mixture of excitement and apprehension.
The coachman nodded, his eyes filled with curiosity. "Where are we going? Who is Gerald" he asked, his voice sounding irritating to her ears.
Suzy hesitated, her eyes filled with a slight irritation. "The address is on the paper ," she replied, her voice barely a whisper.
The coachman nodded, his expression respectful. He knew that Suzy was a private person, and he would not pry.
Suzy and Noah climbed into the carriage, the coachman flicking the reins, and the horses neighed and began to move. As they left the city behind, Suzy felt a sense of relief. She was finally getting closer to the truth.
"Stay a safe distance behind me," Suzy instructed Noah, her voice firm.
Noah nodded, his eyes filled concern. He didn’t know what danger she was planning on getting into but he was determined to protect Suzy, no matter what the cost.
As they approached the gardener’s residence, Suzy’s heart began to race. She was nervous, but she was also determined. She had to find out what had happened to Cassandra’s mother, and she has arrived. The moment of truth awaits.
She took a deep breath and stepped out of the carriage. Noah followed her at a respectful distance, his eyes scanning the surroundings for any sign of danger.
As they approached the gardener’s house, She knocked on the door, her hand trembling slightly. She waited, her heart pounding in her chest. Finally, the door creaked open, and a man appeared in the doorway.
"Can I help you?" the man asked, his voice filled with a mixture of curiosity and suspicion.
Suzy took a deep breath. "I’m looking for a man named Gerard ," she said, her voice barely a whisper.
The man’s eyes narrowed. "I don’t know anyone by that name," he replied, his voice filled with a mixture of suspicion and hostility.
"I’m just asking," she said, her voice filled with a mixture of innocence and desperation. "Have you seen him around here?"
The man hesitated, his eyes filled with a mixture of fear and guilt. He knew that he had to be careful, he has almost been killed by a noble in the past, the more reason he doesn’t trust this one in front of him.
"I haven’t seen anyone by that name," he finally replied.
As Suzy removed her hat, let out a sad sigh and turned to walk away, the man grabbed her gloved hand, his grip tight and urgent. "Cassandra?" he asked, his voice filled with disbelief.
Suzy turned, her eyes widening in shock. "Yes?" she replied, her voice barely a whisper.
"Is it really you?" the man asked, his eyes filled with tears.
"Yes," Suzy replied, her voice trembling slightly.
The man broke down in tears, his sobs echoing through the quiet street. "I thought you were dead. I thought Countess Helene would have killed you or sold you off," he sobbed.
Suzy’s heart ached with sympathy. She could understand his fear and his grief.
"How do you know I’m Cassandra?" she asked, her voice soft.
The man wiped his tears and looked at her, his eyes filled with a mixture of sadness and hope. "When you removed your hat, I saw those auburn curls and freckles," he replied. "Everything about that day came flooding back to me."
