Chapter 108 - Hundred And Eight
Chapter 108: Chapter Hundred And Eight
It was a serene morning, the air filled with the sweet fragrance of blooming flowers. Birdsong filled the air, their cheerful melodies creating a sense of tranquility. Sunlight streamed through the window, casting a warm glow over the room.
Suzy woke up from her sleep, her mind still reeling from the events of the previous night. She asked herself, "Did Ryan enter my room?" She shook her head, dismissing the thought as a dream. But then, she paused, a sense of unease settling in her heart. Why was she having such vivid dreams about him?
She hit her head lightly with her hand, trying to focus. "Focus, Suzy," she muttered to herself. She reached her hand on the drawer of her dresser and pulled out a piece of paper with an address written on it. It was the address of the gardener she had taken from the Red Door days ago. Now that her bruises had healed, she needed answers immediately.
Just then, a knock came at the door. "Who is it?" Suzy called out.
"It’s Doris, Milady," came the reply.
Suzy nodded, her voice filled with a sense of relief. "Come in," she said.
Doris entered the room, her eyes filled with worry. "How was your night, Milady?" she asked. " Did you sleep well?"
Suzy nodded, her voice barely a whisper. "Yes I did," she replied. "Just a little tired for some unknown reasons."
Doris smiled. "Would you like me to bring you some breakfast?" she asked.
Suzy shook her head. "No, thank you," she replied. "I’ll just have some tea. Last night’s dinner is still stuck in my stomach."
Doris nodded and left the room. Suzy sat up in bed, her mind foggy. She would need to be discreet but at the same time need protection and she knew the right person for the job.
Noah.
After the incident at the Red Door, he was temporarily suspended from his duties as her guard. After her little disappearance yesterday, Ryan has reinstated him as her guard.
" it’s time for a visit." She said with a smirk on her face.
She got out of bed, took her bath and dressed up quickly. She grabbed her gloves and hat, and then she headed out the door.
As she walked down the hallway, wearing her gloves, she collided with Byron. Startled, she apologized, "I’m so sorry."
Byron smiled. "It’s okay," he replied. "Are you hurt?"
Suzy shook her head. "No, I’m fine," she replied, her voice a little breathless.
"You haven’t been visiting your brother lately," She said, her tone a mix of concern and amusement.
Byron smiled. "I’ve been busy and I’ll be away for a while." he replied. "But I’ll try to visit him soon."
"That’s a shame," Suzy said, her voice tinged with sadness. "Ryan will be sad to see you go."
Byron looked at her, his eyes wide with surprise. "You mentioned Ryan twice," he said, his voice filled with a mixture of amusement and confusion. "You don’t even like his name coming up in our conversation."
Byron paused, his eyes filled with a knowing glint. "You love him, don’t you?" he asked, his voice a low whisper.
Suzy burst into nervous laughter, trying to deflect his question. "Stop that, Byron," she said, her voice playful. "What makes you think that?"
Byron smiled, his eyes never leaving hers. "I can see it," he replied. "I can hear it."
Suzy stopped smiling, her heart pounding in her chest. She knew that Byron was right, but she couldn’t admit it.
"I don’t love him," she said, her voice firm.
Byron raised an eyebrow. "You don’t have to say it," he replied, his voice filled with a mixture of amusement and challenge.
She couldn’t believe that he had figured it out. She turned and walked away, her heart racing. She knew that Byron had seen through her, and she was afraid of what that meant.

Approaching the entrance to the training ground, Suzy saw Noah training, but it was the person he was training with that caught her attention. It was Ryan, looking completely hot.
He was dressed in a simple yet stylish training outfit, (a blue tunic, a black trouser and a pair of leather boots.)
He stood there, his training outfit clinging to his muscular physique, his disheveled hair adding to his rugged charm. Suzy couldn’t help but stare, her eyes drawn to the bulge of his muscles, the sweat glistening on his skin, the veins prominent on his hands, the confident stance he held as he wielded his sword and the occasional small grunt that escaped his lips as he counters Noah’s attack.
Suzy couldn’t take her eyes off him. He was so different from the man she had known, yet there was something familiar about him. It was as if she were seeing a new side of him, a side she had never seen before.
She stood there, lost in her thoughts, when Doris came up behind her and gently touched her shoulder. "Milady," Doris said, her voice filled with concern. "Are you alright?"
Suzy snapped out of her trance. "Umm...umm I... I" she stammered, her mind racing.
Doris handed her the cup of tea she requested earlier. "Here," she said, her voice soft. "You look flushed."
Suzy took the cup and entered the training ground, her eyes still fixed on Ryan. She sat down on a bench, intentionally swirling the tea in her cup, the clinking sound interrupting the training session.
Ryan glanced up, his eyes meeting Suzy’s. He smiled, a warm and inviting smile that sent a shiver down her spine.
He walked towards her as he wiped off the sweat from his face, neck, and arms. He hung the piece of towel on his neck as he stood in front of her.
Suzy asked him, "I thought you only worked with a pistol. I didn’t know you also wielded a sword."
Ryan smiled. "I do both," he replied, his voice filled with pride.
Suzy raised an eyebrow. "So this is where you are when you’re not in your room or study?" she asked, her voice filled with curiosity.
Ryan chuckled. "Only in my free time," he replied. "Seems you know little of your husband."
Suzy swirled her tea once more and took a long sip.
He looked at her outfit, her hair pulled back in a low bun with a hat on her head. She wore a pretty dress with gloves and low pump shoes to match. He was curious as to why she’s dressed so formal. "Where are you heading to this fine morning, Duchess?" He asked.
Suzy smiled, put the tea cup on the bench, and said, "It’s personal. I need Noah."
Ryan’s eyes narrowed. He knew that Suzy was hiding something from him, and he was determined to find out what it was.
"Noah?" he asked, his voice filled with suspicion. "What do you need him for?"
Suzy hesitated. She knew that she had to be careful, that she couldn’t let Ryan know what she was up to.
"It’s just a personal matter," she said, her voice barely a whisper.
