Chapter 101 - Hundred And One
Chapter 101: Chapter Hundred And One
Ryan’s mind was racing. He couldn’t believe that Suzy was pointing a gun at him. Suzy reloaded the pistol again, her eyes filled with a cold, calculating hatred. "How dare you threaten Isabella," she demanded, her voice low and menacing.
Ryan tried to reason with her, his voice filled with concern. "Duchess, Cass... Cassandra, put the pistol down. We can talk about this."
Suzy looked at him, her eyes filled with a mixture of anger and defiance. "Who gave you the right to think of harming Isabella?" she asked, her voice rising.
Another shot fired, but Suzy missed again. Her frustration mounted. "Why isn’t the damn bullet hitting you?" she shouted, her voice filled with rage.
As she reloaded the pistol, Ryan continued to try to reason with her. "I just wanted to scare her mother," he explained, his voice low and calm. "I wanted her to know how it feels to be on the receiving end of that whip."
Suzy’s eyes narrowed. "Did I ask you to do anything for me?" she demanded, her voice filled with anger. "Why did you go there? I told you I could take care of it myself."
Suzy aimed the pistol at Ryan, her finger on the trigger. "I hate you the more for involving Isabella in this," she said, her voice filled with venom.
She pulled the trigger, but the gun clicked empty. She cursed under her breath, her frustration mounting. She hurriedly searched for bullets, her movements frantic.
Ryan took advantage of her distraction. He lunged forward, knocking the gun out of her hand. The weapon clattered to the ground, landing with a thud.
Suzy looked at him, her eyes wide with shock. She had been so focused on her anger that she hadn’t seen him coming.
She tried to reach for the pistol, but Ryan was faster. He stepped on it, crushing it under his foot.
"Let go," she said, her voice filled with desperation.
Ryan hesitated, his mind racing. He knew that he had made a mistake, but he also knew that he had done it out of love for Suzy.
"I just wanted to protect you," he said, his voice filled with sincerity.
Suzy looked at him, her eyes filled with a mixture of anger and sadness. "Did I ask for your protection?," she asked, her voice barely a whisper.
Ryan’s heart sank. He had never heard Suzy speak to him like that before. He knew that he had crossed a line, and there was no going back.
Ryan knelt before her, his pride swallowed by the overwhelming guilt he felt. "I’m sorry," he said, his voice filled with sincerity. "I never intended to hurt Isabella. My anger got the better of me."
Suzy’s anger momentarily faded, replaced by a wave of surprise. She had never seen Ryan, the proud and self-important Duke, kneeling before anyone not to think about him kneeling before her, pleading for forgiveness.
He continued, his voice filled with emotion. "I know what I did was wrong, and I’m truly sorry. Please don’t be angry with me. I can bear anything but not your anger."
Suzy’s heart softened. She had always admired Ryan’s strength and determination, but she had never seen this vulnerable side of him.
"I can’t forgive you," she said, her voice barely a whisper. "You put Isabella in danger."
Ryan’s heart sank. He knew that he had made a terrible mistake, and he would have to live with the consequences.
"I understand," he said, his voice filled with sadness. "I deserve your anger. But please, forgive me, I’ll take whatever punishment you give me."
Just then, Davis, Noah, and the castle guards burst into the room, their faces etched with concern as they heard the gunshots. They were met with a shocking sight: Ryan kneeling before Suzy, who looked disheveled and distraught. The pistol lay on the floor beside them, its presence adding to the tension in the room.
Ryan turned to them, his voice filled with authority. "Leave," he commanded, his eyes cold and calculating.
The guards hesitated, their fear evident. But they knew that they had no choice. They turned and left, the door closing behind them with a loud bang.
Suzy stood there, her body trembling slightly. She looked at Ryan, her eyes filled with a suppressed anger. "This marks the end of my punishment, i am not sleeping in your room anymore. I’m going to my room," she said, her voice barely a whisper.
Ryan nodded, his face filled with regret. He knew that he had crossed a line, and that there was no going back.
Suzy turned and left the room, slamming the door behind her. He sat down on the bed, his head in his hands. He had tried to protect her, to keep her safe. But in the end, he had only made things worse. He had made her hate him more.
He knew that he had to make things right, but he also knew that it would be difficult. Suzy was a proud and stubborn woman, and she would not forgive him easily.
He sighed, his heart heavy with regret. He had made a terrible mistake, and now he would have to live with the consequences.

It was morning, and the staff of the manor were buzzing with murmurs about the events of the previous night. Rumors were swirling, and everyone was eager to know what had happened between Ryan and Suzy.
Ryan sat at the dining table, waiting patiently for Suzy to join him for breakfast. He was anxious to see her, to talk to her.
Doris entered the room, her face filled with concern. "Your Grace," she began, her voice hesitant. "The Duchess wishes to eat breakfast in her room."
Ryan’s heart sank. He had hoped that Suzy would be willing to join him for breakfast. "Is she okay?" he asked, his voice filled with concern.
Doris nodded. "She’s fine, just a little bit moody," she replied.
Ryan sighed. He knew that Suzy was still angry with him.
"Tell her I’ll see her later," he said, his voice barely a whisper.
Doris nodded, her eyes filled with sympathy. She knew that Ryan was feeling guilty, and she wanted to do whatever she could to help him. She couldn’t bear see the two of them in this situation.
"I’ll let her know," she said, her voice soft.
As Doris left the room, Ryan sat alone at the table, his mind filled with thoughts of Suzy. He finished his breakfast, his appetite diminished by the weight of his guilt. He stood up and left the dining room, his steps heavy with dread.
Ryan entered his study, determined to focus on the day’s work. However, his thoughts were constantly interrupted by the image of Suzy, her face filled with anger and disappointment.
He was deep in thought when a knock sounded on the door. Expecting it to be Suzy, he called out, "Come in."
To his disappointment, it was Doris who entered. "Your Grace," she began, her voice filled with a mixture of excitement and nervousness. "I know how you can make it up to the Duchess."
Ryan’s attention was immediately piqued. "How?" he asked, his voice filled with hope.
Doris took a deep breath. "I think Lady Isabella is the answer," she said, her eyes sparkling with excitement. "Since she was the beginning of this conflict, she can also end it."
