Chapter 102: Chapter Hundred And Two

"Doris," Ryan said, his voice filled with determination. "I need your help."

Doris nodded.

"I’ll send a letter to Lady Isabella," she said, her voice low. "I’ll try to convince her to help. I’ll tell her to say something about this situation and to meet us in town at Madame Helena’s tomorrow. Then I’ll tell Milady that Madame Helena has new outfits for her. I know she won’t refuse."

Ryan smiled. "That’s a good idea," he said, his voice filled with approval. "Go ahead and do it."

Doris nodded and left the room, her heart pounding in her chest. Ryan watched her go, a sense of hope filling his heart. He knew that this was a long shot, but it was the only chance he had.

He sat down at his desk, his mind racing. He had to come up with a plan, a way to make Isabella understand the gravity of the situation. He had to convince her to help him.

Doris had written the letter and sent it to Isabella before going to Suzy’s room. As she entered, she spotted Suzy by the window on a chaise longue, engrossed in the book she had been reading for a while now.

As Doris came in, Suzy lifted her head from the book and said, "Doris," her voice soft and tired.

Doris approached her, her eyes filled with concern. "Madame Helena has sent word," she began. "She has new arrivals of outfits, and she says there are a few customized to your taste."

Suzy’s eyes lit up. "Really?" she asked, her voice filled with excitement as she closed the book and dropped it. "Let’s go right away. This place is suffocating me."

Doris hesitated, her eyes filled with worry. "No, Milady, not today, tomorrow." she pleaded. "Madame Helena would need time to sort out the outfits."

Suzy raised an eyebrow, her suspicion piqued. "Why tomorrow and not today?" she asked, her voice firm.

Doris stammered, trying to find an excuse. "Well, tha... that’s because...sh... she would need time to prepare," she finally managed to say.

Suzy smiled, her eyes twinkling with understanding. "Very well, tomorrow it is then," she said, her voice filled with resignation.

Doris let out a sigh of relief. She knew that Suzy can be very difficult, but she was also grateful that she wasn’t insisting on leaving right away.

As Suzy continued to read, Doris couldn’t help but feel a sense of unease. She knew that Suzy was going through a lot, and she wanted to do everything she could to help her.

As Suzy finished reading, Doris approached her. "Would you like me to bring you some tea?" she asked, her voice filled with concern.

Suzy shook her head. "No, thank you, Doris," she replied. "I’m fine."

It was dinnertime, and Ryan was seated at the dining table, waiting patiently for Suzy to join him. But as the minutes turned into hours, and the food began to grow cold, it became apparent that Suzy was not going to come down.

"Where is the Duchess?" Ryan asked Mrs. Madelyn who came to serve the last of tonight’s menu, his voice filled with concern.

Mrs. Madelyn hesitated, her eyes filled with worry. "Doris just took her food to her room," she replied, her voice low.

Ryan nodded, his appetite waning. He picked at his food, the flavors tasting bland and unappealing. He had lost his appetite, his mind preoccupied with Suzy’s absence.

As the servants began to clear the table, Ryan stood up, his decision made. He would go to Suzy’s room and see how she was.

He met Doris halfway, her face etched with worry. "How is she?" he asked, his voice filled with concern.

"She’s sleeping," Doris replied, her voice soft.

Ryan nodded, his heart aching with guilt. He knew that he had hurt Suzy, and he was afraid that she is slowly pushing him away from her life.

He continued his journey, his steps heavy with dread. As he reached Suzy’s door, he hesitated, his hand hovering over the knob. He took a deep breath, steeling himself for what he might find.

He gently opened the door, the room was dark, but he could see her silhouette on the bed. He approached her cautiously, his heart pounding in his chest.

As he drew closer, he could see that she was sleeping in her usual awkward position, her auburn hair scattered across the pillows. She looked peaceful, her face serene in sleep. He reached out and gently pulled back a stray curl, revealing her peaceful face.

He leaned down and kissed her forehead, a soft, gentle kiss. "When will you forgive me?" he whispered, his voice barely audible.

Her eyes fluttered open, her expression one of confusion and sleepiness. "I’ll wait," he continued, his voice filled with sincerity.

She didn’t respond, just as she went back to sleep. Ryan sighed, his heart heavy with regret. With that, he turned and left the room.

It was morning, and Doris smiled as she knocked on Suzy’s door.

No answer.

She expected for Suzy who is still asleep, curled up in her bed to shout at her as how it’s too early to be awake. But when there was no response, she began to worry.

"Milady?" she called out, her voice filled with concern.

Still no answer. Doris hesitated, her heart pounding in her chest.

To her surprise, the bed was empty. The drapes were still closed, the room shrouded in darkness.

A wave of worry washed over Doris. She quickly went to pull back the drapes, allowing sunlight to flood the room. As the room brightened, she scanned the surroundings, her heart pounding in her chest. Suzy was nowhere to be seen. Her bed was empty, the covers pulled back.

Panic began to set in. Where could Suzy have gone? Doris searched the room, her eyes scanning every corner. She checked under the bed, in the closet, even in the bathroom. But there was no sign of Suzy.

Her wardrobe was a mess, clothes strewn about the floor. It was a mess as clothes scattered everywhere.

Alarm bells rang in Doris’s head. She rushed out of the room, her steps quick and determined. Concerned, she rushed to Ryan’s room and knocked on the door. "Your Grace," she called out, her voice filled with urgency.

Ryan opened the door, his face still sleepy. "What is it, Doris?" he asked, his voice groggy.

"Milady... The Duchess isn’t in her room," Doris replied, her voice filled with alarm.

Ryan’s face paled. He had been so lost in his own thoughts that he hadn’t noticed Suzy missing. "What do you mean?" he asked, his voice rising.

Doris explained the situation, her voice trembling slightly. "I checked her room, and she’s not there. Her clothes are scattered everywhere."

Ryan’s heart pounded in his chest. He knew that something was wrong. "Search the entire manor," he ordered, his voice filled with a sense of urgency.
