Chapter 87 - 87 85 Marry Me
Chapter 87: Chapter 85 Marry Me Chapter 87: Chapter 85 Marry Me Lu Jingyan stared at his empty fingertips for two seconds before looking up at Sheng Xian.
Sheng Xian’s face showed no significant expression, which didn’t seem different from usual. Even the words he spoke were in a calm tone, “Weren’t you going to the restroom? The laundry room is over there, your clothes have already been washed and dried, hurry on.”
Lu Jingyan watched Sheng Xian for a while, feeling he might have overthought the situation just now.
He gave a sound of acknowledgment, his gaze once again falling on Sheng Xian’s clothes.
Before he could speak, Sheng Xian, as if knowing what he was going to ask, said, “I’m fine, it’s someone else’s.”
Lu Jingyan retracted the words that had reached the tip of his tongue.
Sheng Xian added, “Just a little disagreement.”
Lu Jingyan gave another delayed acknowledgment.
Sheng Xian didn’t speak again.
Lu Jingyan also felt that there seemed to be no more questions to ask and, supporting himself on the table, stood up and headed towards the laundry room.
When she came out holding three dried undergarments, Sheng Xian was no longer in the living room.
She looked around and, not seeing him anywhere, pushed open the door to the restroom in the living room and went in.
As soon as Lu Jingyan came out of the restroom, she saw Sheng Xian, who had just been mysteriously absent, now sitting on the couch watching TV.
He had changed into clean clothes, and the volume of the TV was so low it was almost inaudible.
Lu Jingyan glanced at his sound system, feeling that watching TV like this was a waste.
Sheng Xian, hearing some noise, lazily lifted his eyelids and asked, “Are you hungry?”
Lu Jingyan shook his head, “Not hungry.”
Sheng Xian stared at the TV for a moment before asking, “Then would you like something to drink?”
Lu Jingyan thought for a while and asked, “…Do you have any alcohol?”
Sheng Xian glanced at her without saying anything and stood up to walk to the kitchen.
Lu Jingyan picked a cushion to hug and found a comfortable position to lean on the couch.
She had thought Sheng Xian was watching something like the nightly news; she didn’t expect it to be a movie.
Lu Jingyan watched for a while but still couldn’t figure out the plot when Sheng Xian came out from the kitchen carrying two cups.
When he placed the cups on the coffee table, Lu Jingyan leaned forward eagerly to see what was inside.
“…”
Two cups of plain water.
The steaming kind.
Could he be any more old-fashioned? Did Professor Sheng even understand what atmosphere means?
Alone together, a man and a woman, they should be sharing wine by the light of the moon.
Lu Jingyan frowned, “I don’t want to drink hot water.”
Sheng Xian sat down beside him and turned to look at him, “Should I order some takeout for you?”
Lu Jingyan scanned around, “Don’t you have any alcohol? Even if you don’t drink, you should still have a few bottles, right?”
Sheng Xian busied himself with his phone, not speaking.
Lu Jingyan thought he had mentioned something correct, pouted and said, “Really? You really are out of touch.”
Turning his head, Lu Jingyan asked, “What did you order then? Beer? Which brand?”
Sheng Xian lifted his eyes slightly, “Ginger tea.”
Lu Jingyan gave an ‘ah’ in response, instinctively looking at the lit screen of his phone, and saw that he had added three boxes of ginger tea to the cart. She looked a bit displeased as she opened her mouth, put aside the cushion, and picked up the cup of water, “I think the hot water tastes pretty good.”
Sheng Xian, “Really don’t want it?”
Lu Jingyan’s face showed an unabashed distaste for ginger tea, “No, I don’t.”
Sheng Xian didn’t press the issue and set his phone down.
Lu Jingyan took a couple of sips of water and stared at the television in front of her, asking, “What movie is this?”
“Don’t know, just picked one at random.”
Lu Jingyan nodded, starting to watch the movie.
The movie had just started not too long ago and didn’t interfere with viewing. After watching for a while, Lu Jingyan found the dialogues quite funny, thinking it was a comedy and suddenly felt more interested.
But in just a few minutes, a character in the movie turned into an extremely terrifying zombie and bit someone to death. The special effects were very realistic, and to add to the horror, the scene was suddenly thrown in. Even with the music turned down low, Lu Jingyan was still scared stiff, nearly blurting out a loud expletive on the spot.
After all that, this damn thing wasn’t a comedy; it was a horror movie.
She simply couldn’t bear to watch this type of movie.
It was mainly because she was scared.
Lu Jingyan subconsciously shifted her gaze elsewhere.
Perhaps influenced by the scene she had just witnessed, she felt a bit spooked and couldn’t help but start looking for a topic to divert her thoughts, “When did you start keeping that fish?”
“It’s been a while.”
“Have you named it?”
“No.”
“Then let me help you name the little fish.”
Sheng Xian glanced at Lu Jingyan, “Don’t like this movie?”
Lu Jingyan thought to herself, at last you’ve noticed the crux of the matter, “Does anyone actually like this movie?”
Sheng Xian said, “It’s a blockbuster with a 9.8 rating online and has won awards.”
“…”
Lu Jingyan blinked her eyes.
How could such a movie be considered a blockbuster? And get a 9.8 rating?
She didn’t really want to admit that she had a psychological shadow from such dramas, nor did she want to seem as if she had bad taste.
After thinking for a moment, she spoke slowly, “Maybe if I watched it seriously, I might like the movie. But right now, with brother by my side, I just can’t calm my mind.”
A faint pain emerged at Sheng Xian’s temples.
“Rather than watching a movie,” Lu Jingyan continued, looking at Sheng Xian, “Brother, I’d much rather play with you.”
“…”
He realized that this schoolgirl might come on to him at any moment.
There was no pattern, it was all mood-based, leaving him no chance to mentally prepare in advance.
He understood the girl before him too well, if he slighted her as he used to, the next second she could treat the car as a rocket and speed off.
Sheng Xian, looking down, watched her for two seconds, then suddenly leaned his head towards her and whispered, “How do you want to play with me?”
The living room, with the TV turned off, seemed even quieter.
His not-so-loud voice, when it reached Lu Jingyan’s ears, seemed somewhat gentle.
Lu Jingyan swallowed, her heart racing a bit from his words.
Where were her skills at flirting with men? Why had they suddenly all ceased to work?
And besides, what kind of difficult question was that!
Lu Jingyan, stay calm, turn your head, get close to his ear, and breathily suggest: However brother wants to play, I’ll play with him.
That’s what Lu Jingyan had beautifully pictured in her mind, but in reality, she hardly dared to look at Sheng Xian, staring straight at the black television screen in front of her, she managed to say, “Truth or Dare?”
…
Ten minutes later.
Lu Jingyan and Sheng Xian were sitting face to face at the dining table, with a deck of playing cards between them on the table.
Lu Jingyan was quite skilled with cards and always seemed to be lucky, but facing Sheng Xian, it was unclear what went wrong, as she kept losing.
Fortunately, every time she chose truth, Sheng Xian didn’t ask her too difficult questions.
After losing seven or eight rounds in a row, Lu Jingyan finally won one. “Truth or Dare?” she asked.
Sheng Xian lifted his eyelids, he had intended to choose truth, but seeing the excited little schoolgirl in front of him waiting for revenge, he paused, then said, “Dare.”
Lu Jingyan opened her mouth, holding back the question she had long thought of.
Damn, Professor Sheng wasn’t playing by the rules.
Dare.
What dare should she choose?
Lu Jingyan twirled the playing cards in her hand, thinking and thinking, and somehow her mind drifted back to the moment after she had trashed Lu Zhou’s room and walked away with the slap she had received from Lu Hongcheng still stinging her face.
Actually, she wasn’t clear on her current attitude towards Sheng Xian.
But she was sure of one thing – her feelings for him were no longer as simple as initially wanting to just seduce him and play with his emotions.
Looking at Sheng Xian, without really knowing what had come over her, she blurted out, “Marry me.”
