Chapter 86 - 86 84 How do you want to coax me

Chapter 86: Chapter 84 How do you want to coax me? Chapter 86: Chapter 84 How do you want to coax me? Sheng Xian watched as she swallowed hard, his hand reached into the car window, landed on top of her head, and gave it a couple of light pats, “Where are you going?”

“…”

“I haven’t even cheered you up yet, where do you think you’re going?”

“…”

Lu Jingyan’s breath halted.

Her heart was pounding hard, thump, thump, as if it wanted to burst out of her chest.

The cold night air rushed in through the window, quickly dispelling the warm air inside the car.

Wearing only a sweater, Lu Jingyan felt no cold at all, but a thin layer of sweat had formed in her palms.

Neither of them spoke again.

The scene was as still as if someone had hit the pause button.

After an unknown amount of time, a car drove by on the roadside, a short honk breaking the silence.

Sheng Xian silently retracted the hand from Lu Jingyan’s head and stuffed it into his trench coat pocket.

Lu Jingyan blinked, glancing at Sheng Xian.

Just then, Sheng Xian lowered his gaze towards her.

Startled, Lu Jingyan jumped her gaze away as if caught off-guard, staring at a leafless tree not far away. Striving to appear calm, she cleared her throat and, without much thought, followed up on his previous words, “How do you plan to cheer me up?”

Sheng Xian seemed surprised by her question, paused for a moment, and looking into her eyes, asked, “How do you want me to cheer you up?”

Lu Jingyan opened her mouth, her heartbeat once again uncontrollably speeding up.

On second thought, Professor Sheng’s response wasn’t wrong; it was she who asked how he wanted to cheer her up first.

For her, this kind of conversation was child’s play, something she could usually handle with ease without even thinking.

But what was wrong with her now? Becoming so nervous was one thing, but she couldn’t even think of a response.

Lu Jingyan did not want to appear inexperienced and naive in front of Sheng Xian, so facing his gaze, she thought hard for a while and said, “I want you to help me buy sanitary pads.”

Sheng Xian: “…”

Lu Jingyan: “…”

Lu Jingyan had the urge to bite off her own tongue.

She thought long and hard and this was all she could come up with?

With such a good opportunity, wouldn’t asking for a hug or a kiss be better?

Lu Jingyan struggled for a few seconds with whether to knock herself out on the steering wheel but decided she could not undermine herself. She had to keep a straight face and looking straight into Sheng Xian’s eyes, she said calmly, “I’ve run out of the sanitary pads I brought with me.”

“…”

“I haven’t changed it for over two hours now.”

“…”

“I’m a bit heavy today, and I need to change it now. It would take at least half an hour to get delivery, and I can’t wait that long…”

“…”

Sheng Xian sighed quietly without a sound, passing the paper bag he was holding through the car window into her arms.

As he withdrew his hand, he looked up at the earnest young student, “Do you need underwear as well?”

“Ah?”

Lu Jingyan blinked, grasping the implication of Sheng Xian’s words.

Was he asking if she had stained her underwear?

Her ears felt a bit warm, her eyes darting around evasively, “I hadn’t thought that much, but now that you mention it, it does make sense, so please do help.”

After a pause, Lu Jingyan added, “Buy me two pairs.”

Sheng Xian said nothing and walked away.

After walking a few steps, he stopped in frustration.

Had he been influenced by her to the extent that he was speaking without thinking?

Do you need underwear? Do you need underwear? Do you need underwear?

Sheng Xian pinched the bridge of his nose, holding back the internal collapse, and lifted his feet to move again.

On the way back from the supermarket, the schoolgirl who had been at the driver’s seat somehow ended up crawling to the passenger seat.

When she saw him approaching, she immediately lowered the car window and stretched out her hand, “Give me the things, you drive.”

Sheng Xian passed the supermarket bags to Lu Jingyan, walked around the front of the car, and sat in the driver’s seat.

Lu Jingyan opened the bag, taking out the sanitary pads one by one to look at them, “Wow, Professor Sheng, you’re pretty good at this.”

Sheng Xian didn’t say a word, steering into the nearby parking garage.

Lu Jingyan stuffed the sanitary pads back into the bag and dug out a paper box that was underneath.

In front of Sheng Xian, she tore open the paper box violently, pulling out the three pieces of underwear inside.

Sheng Xian glanced at it briefly before quickly looking away and focusing on the road ahead, not daring to let his gaze wander again.

The underwear was rolled up, and Lu Jingyan pulled each one apart, shook them out, and inspected them, “Do you like this style?”

Sheng Xian kept a poker face as he looked for a parking spot.

The underwear was the kind made of the simplest cotton material, with not even a pattern on it.

Lu Jingyan curled her lip, “Professor Sheng, you’re so old-fashioned.”

“…”

“I thought you’d like lace.”

Sheng Xian impassively parked the car in the parking spot.

Lu Jingyan sighed at the three underwear in black, white, and gray, “Never mind, as long as you like them.”

As she spoke, Lu Jingyan turned her head to ask, “Which one do you like best?”

Sheng Xian turned off the car, his expression cold as he snatched the bag from her legs, picked up the torn paper box, stuffed it into the bag, hesitated for a moment, then yanked the underwear from her hand, tossing it quickly into the bag like a hot potato, and pushed the car door open, stepping out with the bag in hand.

When they got home, Sheng Xian brought the bag into the laundry room.

After coming out, he glanced at Lu Jingyan, who was now close to the cabinet, gazing into the eyes of the little fish in the aquarium, and fetched the paper bag he bought from the pharmacy, saying, “Come here.”

Lu Jingyan gave a sound of acknowledgement, whistled at the little fish, and traveled over to where Sheng Xian was.

Sheng Xian pulled out a chair for her to sit, then took out ointment and cotton swabs from the paper bag and bent over to apply a layer of medicine to the swollen area on her face.

The one who hit her had been quite fierce; she even had a layer of skin broken at the corner of her mouth.

Sheng Xian’s chest began to feel restless again, he suppressed the surge of anger and the urge to ask who had done it, and finished applying the medicine with pursed lips.

Having tightly screwed on the cap of the ointment, Sheng Xian looked down for two seconds at her, sitting in the chair, “Does it still hurt?”

“Huh?” Lu Jingyan shook her head and leaned on the dining table as if nothing was wrong, “It stopped hurting a long time ago.”

Sheng Xian didn’t speak anymore and stood beside her but didn’t leave.

Lu Jingyan, made a bit uneasy by his presence, moved her head and then noticed that the shirt Sheng Xian was wearing underneath was covered in blood.

It had been dark in the car earlier, and then they were in the parking lot; she hadn’t noticed it at all.

Lu Jingyan abruptly sat up straight, “What’s with your clothes?”

“Did you get into a fight?”

Lu Jingyan, quickly spotting the blood on Sheng Xian’s hand, snatched his hand without thinking, “What happened to your hand?”

Before Lu Jingyan could get a clear look at whether his hand was injured, Sheng Xian suddenly jerked his hand away.

His reaction was very intense.

As if her hands were dirty.
