Chapter 248: 247 Zoe crashes, her cousin likes younger Puppy (2 more)
Zoe Bell wandered around the supermarket and bought a lot of stuff, which left Kyle Lowe, the only one handling it all, exhausted.
"How long is Madam planning to stay?"
"Are you trying to empty the supermarket?"
"But it’s also good, as long as Madam stays there, that wild man should leave."
Ever since Kyle knew the two were living together, he was constantly fearful, dreading their relationship being discovered and reported back to William Hale. He could be charged with negligence and surely lose his year-end bonus.
That dog, Zac Cruz,
he sure knows how to pretend.
The master explicitly said it was their turn, yet that bastard doesn’t care at all.
Hannah Johnson has been busy lately, spinning around as her father was imprisoned and the family company was handed over to professional managers. She couldn’t truly disregard it, especially near year-end when it’s crucial to push for performance.
She was running between the Hugh Family Company and her own company.
In the evenings, she also had to contend with a lively, tawny puppy.
She even felt:
At this rate, she’d soon be drained!
That puppy was still young and energetic.
She was so busy that she forgot to return Zoe Bell’s call.

Yarden
Due to Zoe buying so many things, Kyle was exhausted just moving the stuff to the elevator.
"Madam, how about I send you up in the elevator first, and I’ll slowly move the things and luggage myself?" Kyle said, looking at the trunk full of stuff, feeling overwhelmed.
"That would be kind of you."
Zoe Bell, with her crutch, couldn’t help him.
Kyle sent Zoe to the top floor, worried that other residents might call the elevator away, and quickly darted in.
Having escorted her to her door, there wouldn’t be any accidents.
Leaning on her crutch, Zoe moved to the door, entered the password, and the moment the door opened, Fanta surprisingly crawled out of her nest and ran towards her.
This astonished Zoe.
Fanta was aloof,
rarely moving out of her nest to greet her.
Just as Zoe bent down to pet her, Fanta stared at her for a few seconds.
Then...
Turned her head, wiggling her bottom and dangling her tail, and rolled her round body back into the nest.
Zoe’s hand hung in midair.
This little thing!
What’s going on?
Zoe couldn’t help but chuckle, familiarly about to open the shoe cabinet to take out slippers, but then froze.
Here...
Why were there two pairs of slippers?
The woman’s pair, she recognized, belonged to her cousin.
The other pair, clearly for men,
was not William’s.
Whose shoes were these?
She took the slippers and changed, entering the living room, immediately noticing changes. There was an additional cushion on the sofa, an extra cup next to the coffee machine, and even the kitchen utensils were set for two.
Hesitating, Zoe opened Hannah’s bedroom.
She had stayed over before, had shared a bed with her.
The bed seemed usual.
But on the bathroom countertop...
There were additional sets of mouthwash cups and toothbrushes, and several dark-colored towels, clearly not her cousin’s style.
Zoe didn’t continue looking, slowly backed out of the room and closed the door.
She sat on the sofa, lost in thought.
It was clear here:
Someone else was living here.
Not the aunt, but a man!
A man?!
When did her cousin start dating a boyfriend?
Was he tall, short, fat, or thin?
Why hadn’t she mentioned him to her?
She picked up her phone, thinking of asking William, to see if he was aware. She had already drafted the message but then realized it was nighttime overseas, and he might be resting.
He had been working too hard lately, better not disturb his sleep.
"Madam, I’ll leave the things at the front door first, I still need to make two more trips."
Kyle, busy moving things, didn’t notice the extra slippers at the door and turned back out.
Once he moved all the things upstairs and saw his Madam in a daze, he frowned and asked, "Madam? Are you alright?"
"I’m quite good."
"Did your legs start hurting from walking too long at the supermarket?"
"No,"
Zoe Bell shook her head, picking up her cane, "Kyle, let’s go back to our own home."
"What?"
Kyle Lowe thought Zoe was joking with him.
After all the effort to move everything up, are they supposed to move it all back again?
Zoe felt that since Hannah Johnson had not made it public, she must have her own reasons and it was better to pretend not to know.
After all, Fanta, the cat, couldn’t talk, and her quiet arrival and departure would go unnoticed.
She had her boyfriend there.
It was inconvenient for her to stay there too!
Moreover,
The relationship was developing far too quickly.
They were already moving in together?
Though Kyle did not understand, whatever his wife said, he had to obey, and resignedly started moving the stuff downstairs. Even though the two buildings were close, situated at the top floors, using the elevator back and forth was time-consuming.
Zoe Bell was slightly dazed for a moment.
Though it would be normal for her cousin at this age to not only be dating but even to have children,
she had declared just a few months ago that she wanted to be a single warrior. How could she have a boyfriend so quickly?
Had she found true love?
Since Zoe was already there, she decided she would at least pet the cat before leaving.
Besides, it would take Kyle some time to move the stuff.
She had just picked up Fanta in her arms when, accompanying the sound of the elevator’s arrival, there were footsteps and the little creature wriggled out of her arms and ran to the door. As the door opened, it sat there, wagging its head and tail, meowing loudly—
Obviously trying to please!
"Coming out to meet me again? Such a good boy."
A man’s voice!
Zoe felt a thud in her heart.
It was just past ten in the morning. Didn’t this man have a job?
The voice, why did it sound so familiar?
She hurriedly got up with the support of her cane.
Feeling somewhat nervous and uneasy.
If he and her cousin were getting along well, she might have to call him brother-in-law in the future; it was important to make a good impression.
Isaac Shea had had two classes in the morning. He finished at nine forty and went straight home. He had just picked up the cat when he noticed something odd in the home, as he immediately saw a suitcase and a supermarket shopping bag that didn’t belong to his house lying on the floor.
Hadn’t she said she was busy at work and wouldn’t be home until the evening?
Isaac Shea put down the briefcase containing his laptop and the groceries he had just bought, and carried the cat further inside.
When his eyes met Zoe’s...
He was stunned.
Zoe was completely flabbergasted.
"Mr., Mr. Shea?"
Zoe made a strong impression on him. Despite his young age, he was already an assistant professor at university, had strikingly good looks, and had even had dinner at the Hale family residence; she couldn’t forget him.
She gripped her cane tightly.
Though the reunion with a family member was astonishing and surprising, it was also joyful, but now she finally understood what being struck by lightning out of the blue felt like.
"Mrs. Hale," Isaac Shea quickly recovered, "It’s been a long time."
"A very... very long time."
She forcibly squeezed a slight smile from the corners of her mouth.
The smile was so awkward, it looked worse than crying.
And she had thought, given her cousin’s character, she would choose a mature and stable partner, so why Mr. Shea?
"Your leg just underwent surgery, don’t stand, please sit," Isaac Shea put down the cat, "Would you like some water?"
"Sure, sure," Zoe was still partially agape.
Unbelievable!
Her cousin liked this kind of younger man, a puppy lover?
What exactly was going on?
When did these two get together? Did Simon Hale know about this?
Isaac Shea, expert at navigating his own kitchen, took the groceries he had just bought into the kitchen, fetched a cup, and poured water, clearly showing that the two had been living together for some time.
—
At that moment, Hannah Johnson was still at her company and was momentarily stunned when she received a call from Isaac Shea.
"Why are you calling me at this time? You must be missing me," Hannah laughed.
"Mrs. Hale is here."
"Who did you say?"
"Zoe Bell."
"Where is she?" Hannah suddenly stood up from her chair.
"On the couch."
"..."
"What should I do?"
"Keep her there, don’t let her leave!"
As Zoe sipped her water, she wondered whether to inform Mr. Hale that he would soon have a brother-in-law.
