Chapter 247: 246 coming to the door for someone? Does Zoe have a surprise prepared?

Old House of Hale Family

The Wells Family had tried everything to find Ryan Wells, begging anyone who would listen, but he had vanished like a stone dropped into the sea, without even a ripple.

No trace of him could be found.

Out of options, Mrs. and Mr. Wells ran to the Hale Family in the dead of night, demanding to see someone.

Zoe Bell hadn’t expected them to show up at her doorstep, furrowing her brows tightly.

"Don’t worry, we’ll handle this."

Lily Lott smiled and gently patted her hair.

Leaning on her crutch, Lily Lott walked to the window. From a distance, she could see the Wells’ car parked at the gate, unable to enter.

"...Let us in, I need to see Old Sir Hale and the Old Lady!" Mrs. Wells had grown so frantic overnight that half of her hair had turned white. She could no longer care about appearances and confronted the Hale Family’s security personnel as soon as she stepped out of the car.

"Could it be that the Hale Family has a guilty conscience?"

"Ryan Wells, Ryan Wells—"

Mrs. Wells was convinced that her son’s disappearance was related to the Hale Family, perhaps hidden away by them.

The old mansion of the Hale Family covered nearly a thousand square meters; hiding a person would be all too easy.

"So late at night, Mrs. Wells causing such a scene outside my house, that’s hardly respectable," Brock Hale, who had already gone to bed, came out wearing his coat, accompanied by Quade Hale and Finn Hale.

It was rare for the three Hale brothers to appear together.

This indeed shocked Mrs. and Mr. Wells.

"I, I just want to find my son back." Mrs. Wells’ eyes were bloodshot, "Please, tell me where my son is?"

"Mrs. Wells, how could we possibly know where your son is?" asked Quade Hale with impatience on his face.

"William Hale must know!"

"He’s abroad," Brock Hale stated flatly.

"He definitely hid my son."

Finn Hale sneered, "Mrs. Wells, when your son goes missing, you should go to the police, not my nephew, right?"

"It was definitely him!"

"Do you have proof?"

"I... I will find it!"

"Without evidence, that’s slander."

"Who else could have the power to do this?" Johnson Wells was also desperately anxious.

Brock Hale snorted coldly, "Just how many people has your son offended over the years? I bet even you’ve lost count. You come to our Hale Family based on guesswork and demand someone; you sure have the gall."

"I just want my son back; as long as he returned my son to me, all will be forgiven!" Mrs. Wells was too anxious.

Finn Hale laughed coldly, "Can’t you understand plain language?"

"We’ve said it; where is your son? We don’t know, we have no idea!"

"You Wells are quite the joke. Your son harassed a young lady, paid to suppress the scandal, and got him off the hook. You were so eager to charter a plane and send him abroad, you probably even arranged a welcoming party."

"Now that he’s gone missing, you come knocking at our door? Do you think the Hale Family collects trash? That just anyone can enter?"

Finn Hale’s words were extremely insulting.

He made it clear:

To him, Ryan Wells was trash.

Only his parents could think of him as a treasure.

Brock Hale was more direct, "If you have evidence, call the police. I won’t stop you."

"But if you don’t, then leave right now!"

Mrs. and Mr. Wells refused to go. They even called the police, accusing the Hale Family of harboring Ryan Wells, trying to use the police to gain entry, but they had no proof, so not even the police had a search warrant. They didn’t set foot inside the great doors of the Old House of the Hale Family.

"I, I want to see Zoe Bell! Is she here?" Mrs. Wells changed her tack.

That young lady seemed very approachable.

Kind-faced, gentle-natured.

Perhaps they could learn something from her.

Clearly, Mr. and Mrs. Wells couldn’t find their son and were desperate.

Even the police were at a loss, as Ryan Wells had disappeared overseas, but the couple was convinced the case was related to the Hale Family. They followed the procedure and checked on the Hale Family, including Zoe Bell. Despite having motives, they lacked opportunities to commit the act.

And as for the affairs abroad, it was out of their hands.

So the disappearance of Ryan Wells remained a mystery.

After creating a ruckus outside the Hale Family’s gate for over an hour, Mrs. and Mr. Wells finally left.

The Hale Family discussed that Ryan was the only son of the Wells Family, and they suspected Mr. and Mrs. Wells wouldn’t cease their efforts just yet; they might still come knocking soon.

Zoe Bell needed to recuperate, living in the old mansion and going back and forth to the hospital; it was inevitable that she would be disturbed.

The Wells Family had been acting like lunatics lately.

If they caught Zoe, they certainly wouldn’t let her go.

The Payne Family’s old mansion was also under renovation.

"Maybe you should stay at Tim Payne’s place for a few days?" Finn Hale suggested.

"I... I’m not going," Zoe Bell quickly shook her head.

"Why?"

"I just feel it’s inconvenient, and my brother isn’t good at taking care of people."

Finn Hale raised an eyebrow, "For a bachelor who’s been single for so long, it’s normal not to know how to take care of people."

Everyone from the Hale Family: (O_o)??

Are you in any position to talk?

You’re acting as if you’re not single yourself!

Zoe was afraid of Martin Yates, who had recently been living at her brother’s place.

"You can’t just go back to Yarden to live alone," Lily Lott frowned.

"Maybe... I could hide out at my cousin’s place for a few days? I haven’t seen her in a long time."

"She lives alone, and with your leg being inconvenient, what will you eat?" Lily frowned.

"My cousin has hired a nanny who cooks, and the food is actually really tasty."

"Then there’s no problem," Brock Hale nodded, "I’ll tell her, and I’ll send you over."

In fact, Zoe Bell always lived with these elders; she probably also felt uncomfortable. Maybe she’d be more comfortable staying with Hannah Johnson.

"No need, I’ll tell my cousin in advance, and Kyle Lowe can take me there."

The Wells Family would definitely have people watching the places the Hale Family often visited. They’d stop at nothing to find their son, so reasoning with them was useless. Entangling with them was pointless; it was better to avoid them.

Luckily, Zoe’s leg was healing nicely; she now only needed to go to the Rehabilitation Hospital once a week. The rest of the time, she had to rely on exercising herself.

Zoe intended to call Hannah Johnson, but after being messed with by the Wells couple, it was now nearly midnight.

Lying in bed, Zoe opened her chat history with Hannah. They last contacted a week ago. Recently her cousin was busy with something and rarely reached out to her. When she did come to visit, she was often looking at her phone.

She said she was busy with work, and Zoe didn’t ask further.

---

The next morning,

Zoe wanted to call Hannah early, but she didn’t answer and replied with a message:

[What’s up? I’m in a meeting.]

[Nothing much, go ahead with your work.]

[I’ll give you a call when I’m done.]

With that, she would head over on her own.

Consider it a surprise.

Kyle Lowe was unaware of the Wells couple causing a scene last night. When he received the call and rushed to the old house, Zoe had already packed her bags, asking him to help load them into the car.

"Ma’am, where are you planning to go?"

"Back to Yarden."

Kyle nodded, "Old Sir Hale isn’t back yet. Are you sure it’s okay to live in Yarden with just Nanny Parker to look after you? Maybe it’s better to stay at the Old House of Hale Family."

Zoe was dealing with her online store on her phone. After getting into the car, she said:

"I’m going to stay with my cousin."

Kyle, driving the car, was stunned.

"You... you’re staying at Cousin Miss’s place?"

"The Wells Family has been like a clinging plaster lately, impossible to shake off. They would never imagine that I’d hide at my cousin’s place, let alone dare to bother her."

Hannah Johnson’s "notoriety" was well-known in the circle.

Zoe put away her phone.

"Besides, I haven’t seen my cousin in a long time, and I really miss her. I don’t even know what she’s been so busy with lately. She hasn’t contacted me."

Kyle replied with a resigned smile:

She’s been busy taking care of a younger Puppy.

"Did you... contact her in advance?" Kyle nervously swallowed.

"Mmm."

Zoe nodded.

Kyle then relaxed.

Since she had made contact in advance, the wild man would definitely be moved away beforehand, so there was no need for him to warn anyone.

However, Kyle didn’t know that Zoe’s idea of contacting in advance didn’t involve her cousin picking up the phone.

Zoe liked Fanta a lot and loved to play with the cat.

When she had previously visited, she was always polite and would ask in advance for permission. Hannah, being straightforward, thought it was too much hassle and just gave Zoe the house password.

"I’m not home every day, just come over whenever you want to see the cat, no need to tell me."

Furthermore, Zoe often stayed overnight at her cousin’s place.

So when she went to visit, she almost never informed Hannah in advance.

Before going, Zoe made a trip to the supermarket, picking up some groceries, buying many of Hannah’s favorite snacks, and even brought some cat food.

Her cousin must be surprised to see her, right?
