Chapter 80: On Guard

OuYang’s eyes darkened upon hearing her name until his lips curled upward and he seemed delighted, "I see! What a beautiful name. Then you must be.. Miss Canary’s Boss?"

AiLin knew this would happen. While perhaps OuYang would remember every dollars he had given the name to, he would never remember the name of any of his victims. She nodded her head, "I was curious since Canary told me that there was debtor who had taken such a large amount of loan and that the debtor told us that you would pay on her behalf if you could just sit once beside Canary." She pulled her hand from OuYang and settled her arm behind her waist, "Since you are willing to pay so much, I am curious on what is it that make you so curious about my subordinate."

Narrowing his eyes, OuYang tried to hide his annoyance to Lu Ping. Now that Lu Ping wasn’t as wealthy as her high school time, she was nothing more than a pawn ready to discard by OuYang. He felt vexed that Lu Ping was dumb enough to tell all the truth to AiLin, not knowing that she had been forced to do so.

He quickly flitted up his smile again on his lips, "I wasn’t curious about Miss Canary, I was curious of the woman who had turned District twenty one which has always been known as a poor and unruly street into such a prosperous place. Not to mention your gang, Cage Gang, had gathered such amount of power and wealth overnight which made me curious on learning a thing or two from you."

"Gang?" AiLin laughed, knowing OuYang was good at flattering people but he seemed troubled seeing how she the arrogant glint on her gaze never once faded in front of him whose business is far more successful than his. She knew he disliked the type of women he couldn’t control like in the past and she shrugged her shoulders, "It’s not a Gang. Our Cage Company is simply a business that would loan out money to the needed," in fact it was a charity company that she created to help people and businesses in need to District Twenty One while having those unruly gangster away from the street. In the past District twenty one was filled with only mobsters and gangsters who would fill the place with violence and to sell illegal medicines. But that was long gone ever since she directed Canary on cleaning the street for good.

Though now she realized those mobsters from district twenty one had ran to this nightclub, working under OuYang.

"Only loaning money in need," OuYang nodded, he then turned to the female staff who had came to whisper a few words to his ears. He then let out a wild grin that made AiLin rather uncomfortable. It wasn’t because she couldn’t handle the disgusting smile that had settled on OuYang’s face but because he would only use such an expression when he had planned something sickening. He then turned back to look at her with a polite smile, "Should we go and have a drink or two? I have such a great plan to offer you."

"Amusing," AiLin said as she snapped her finger, "Then we should go somewhere more private. I don’t like a lot of ears."

"Of course," OuYang settled his hand to his heart and acted gentlemanly by letting her move first. He whispered as they walked, "If I had known that the boss of Cage Company is such a beautiful lady, I would have not resorted to such underhand method."

AiLin’s smile was like a stamp, it was produced by her hard will not her real emotions. She turned and chuckled at him, "Why? Have you fallen for me already by just a glance? Or is it my money that smelled so good to you?"

OuYang’s face stiffened as he wondered how could this woman be so sensitive to his real attraction to her wealth. He stifled his surprise and cleared his throat, "O- Of course it’s you."

"How unconvincing," AiLin remarked which made his smile fell. He hadn’t even started to flirt when AiLin had mocked him and that made him to look at her with hidden anger as his lips were twitching at its corner.

When they arrived to a room, AiLin noted the surrounding. The CCTV in the whole building was really turned off. The security in this place was even more terrible than district twenty one before she and Canary created the Cage Business. She realized that was the charm of this nightclub as Canary had told her, making those who wanted to do terrible things to feel more comfortable without fearing the eyes of the law.

OuYang entered the room first and then sat down in the blue couch that was settled in the middle of the room. The light was yellow, the room was dim, and the overall atmosphere felt more like a love hotel than a place for business. She didn’t took much attention to it and maneuvered to sit to the couch when suddenly she felt a movement and grabbed her purse to hit the bodyguard who had moved right behind her head.

The bodyguard’s eyes widened when he saw the corner of AiLin’s black thin purse had almost stabbed his eyes. She then looked down on his arm that had blocked Canary from entering the room. Canary herself was holding tight to something sharp on her thigh, glaring at the bodyguard was the two women had always lived on harsh situations where they know what to do when someone was about to raise hands toward them.

OuYang spoke from the other side, "Be at ease Miss AiLin. I wouldn’t dare to hurt you knowing that I only wish to make a great impression towards you."

"Then what are you trying to do by separating me and my subordinate?" AiLin exchanged glances at Canary who assured her with a nod that the bodyguard wasn’t someone they had to troubled themselves with.

She lowered her arms and heard OuYang spoke amiably, "I merely wish that we can have a one to one conversation as the two Boss of a prestigious group. I believe that this would help us to smoothen over some troubles."

AiLin turned to feel Canary who was holding to her wrist and shaking her head, telling her that she shouldn’t agree. But she refused her friend’s warning, gently tapping to her wrist, "I see. Then we should try talking. I want to see what words you have to offer me."
