Mrs Fox Heinous Revenge: Can You Love A Villainess like Me? -
Chapter 238: Hidden Lurkers
Chapter 238: Hidden Lurkers
Upon finding out the entire story, Jiang NianNian was beyond furious. She had always looked down on AiLin and unlike her, AiLin had always used the "right" way of dealing things. This was why she hadn’t expected that AiLin could have been the one behind her family’s suffering now.
Recalling all the embarrassment she had to go through as her family lost the project and the look people stare at her with pity and mockery filled anger to her blood. All this. All of this- It was all because of that woman?!
Jiang NianNian furiously about to stand up when a harsh click of the glass hitting the table stopping her feet. She looked at Bai HaiZe who was staring at the glass for a long quiet time. He had tapped his finger on the table, a small hum between his lips and his frown finally eased up after a while, "Even if you try to confront about her now, you will only meet the demerits. She’s the Hua Family’s granddaughter."
"But not loved," Jiang NianNian laughed, "Elder Hua is known for her hatred toward her granddaughters. Even if she is really Elder Hua’s granddaughter, she still has no power to protect herself. The only hinder is that Li Zi Chen!"
Bai HaiZe knew that though Jiang NianNian had always been on the reckless side who was always envious to everyone whose life was slightly better than her, she wasn’t entirely foolish. She was rather quick to think, and clever which had helped her to bully AiLin for years during high school without ever getting the punishment for it.
She was a useful pawn and even now she knew the root of the problem wasn’t Elder Hua rather Li Zi Chen.
"He would do everything for AiLin," Bai HaiZe said as he leaned backward to the plus cushion. His head leaned backward until his eyes could see the ceiling of the penthouse, "Isn’t it odd? I could tell by a glance that he’s not normal. He’s hiding something."
Jiang NianNian ruffled her hair, pushing it to the back of her head as she thought about all the possible outcome, "Maybe because he still doesn’t know about her used body or the fact that she was once pregnant."
"That information wasn’t hard to find, NianNian. Someone like Li ZiChen would have dug it first and despite knowing about it he decided to stay with her," Bai HaiZe pondered.
"Sounds as if he was going to stay with her to repay his sins."
Raising his eyebrows, Bai HaiZe snapped his gaze back to Jiang NianNian who had covered her mouth in a startle. He narrowed his gaze, moving forward, "What do you mean by that?"
"N-No..." Jiang Niannian squeezed her forehead in a sigh and finally answered, "Think about it. Why would someone stay with AiLin after what she had gone through? Love? Devotion? Or maybe simply out of guilt? I heard from someone that once Li ZiChen rejected another young lady from a wealthy family saying that he has debts to pay back."
"Debts as in, guilt?" Bai HaiZe inquired and Jiang NianNian nodded her head, confirming his guess. "So that would mean AiLin had done something for him which had caused him to feel guilty."
"It could be," Jiang NianNian massaged her head as she thought about her next plan. She lifted the picture to look at AiLin and then saw the other document that had recorded her as she left to an acting scene. The picture of AiLin standing in front of the cameras made Jiang NianNian to immediately raise her eyebrow, "This is... she’s acting??"
Bai HaiZe was disinterested as he nodded his head, "A project from Li ZiChen, a gift maybe."
"Woah, how wonderful it is to be in her position. Riding someone’s coattail must be extremely pleasant for a leech like her," Jiang NianNian’s eyes darkened as her hands holding the paper slowly crumpled the documents under her fingers. Anger and resentment echoed in her heart as she thought about how she was currently suffering while AiLin was living her best life.
A dark idea slithered in her mind before she looked back at Bai HaiZe, "Then we can simply do this instead," she pushed the paper to Bai HaiZe’s hands. "With your name and my connection, there surely is a thing or two that we can do to destroy her."
"And your idea?" Bai HaiZe looked at her, finally breaking into a smile as if happy.
Jiang NianNian who saw this couldn’t help but let out a chuckle, "You know Hai Ze. I feel thankful to Heavens that you don’t like me. To become someone you love must mean to suffer."
Bai HaiZe who heard this didn’t seem the slightest disturbed. He looked back at her with ease in his eyes, "It could have been a good love story for AiLin. If she had accepted me she didn’t have to go through all those bullying or... what is about to greet her. Rather than the toy I love falling into someone else’s hands I would break it. I can still love it even if it’s broken."
Jiang NianNian could only think about how unlucky AiLin was and felt overjoyed thinking that there was not only one person who is after her end but many including herself.
"Well what’s the plan?" Bai Hai Ze leaned forward, "I’ll help you with it."
The next day in the acting set, AiLin was memorizing the words in the script when she looked upward and noticed that InRan and FangMin was busy on the opposite side. Today was one of the days where they were going to be in one scene and although this scene was supposed to be the last from the high school act, AiLin found herself oddly reminiscing as she stared at the four story building of the high school.
YanLan who was by her side, rushed with a thick puffer coat which he placed on her shoulders before pulling out a warm milk tea to her hands, "Coming to school again for a week straight makes you feel a little nostalgic about it, right?"
"Mhm," AiLin muttered when she heard the sounds of broom sweeping the ground. Turning her head, she saw the old man who was cleaning the place, wearing the janitor uniform.
Though this had became an acting set, the place they had been visiting for the past two weeks were originally a school that had shut down due to winter break. The janitor who had worked her was also from the school who still work regardless of the break, left to take care of the school.
But the reason why she had looked at the janitor wasn’t because of his sudden appearance, rather it was something else.
"Wait here," she placed the tea back to YanLan’s hands and raced toward the janitor.
The old man whose head was leaning down staring at the ground he had swept, noticed a black loafer that had stopped beside his broom. He looked at her only to widen his gaze, "Miss AiLin?"
"I knew it!" AiLin reached out, "Mr Baek?"
YanLan who had rushed after her was heaving when he looked at the old man. AiLin was happy to look at Mr Baek but YanLan noted the latter didn’t seem as happy. But AiLin didn’t notice it, continuing her words, "Mr Baek, it’s been a while. You worked in the Prestige High School before and considering the privilege of working there, I thought you would continue working there until retirement."
Mr Baek swiped his wrist around his forehead, pulling his baseball cap as he nodded his head, showing a look of smile which he rather forced on his face, "I was going to continue working there but things happen, Miss AiLin, so I decided to leave."
"Did someone try to bully you there? I knew it, the teachers there are very rude, they always scold you loudly in front of everyone if you didn’t do the things they demand you." AiLin sighed, "But to take care of such a big high school alone now is too difficult for you, isn’t it?"
"No, no, it isn’t as bad as it looks Miss AiLin. Beside, working helps take away a lot from my worries."
Watching the scene from the third point of view, YanLan noted that AiLin had treated the old man in front of her as someone more than simply a janitor. Perhaps like the old grandpa she was neighbor to. The old man seemed to also like her presence but troubled, as if he was caught red handed from thieving. After a brief glance, YanLan who was always more sensitive to people’s emotions and their expression could tell it firmly but it seems AiLin still hadn’t noticed it yet.
She spoke genuinely to Mr Baek, happy to see him again. Mr Baek was one of the janitors who would always rushed to open doors where she was locked at, he even knew about the bullying and had helped her multiple times to escape. He always apologized for not being able to do much more as he had tried to bring the bullying case only to be turned away by the teachers.
AiLin never blamed him either. She knew better than anyone how the teachers there were quite unhappy to hear about bullying, not because they hate the act but because of how it could have hurt their image.
Meanwhile as AiLin talked to Mr Baek, asking about his current situation, a staff dressed in a black hoodie and baseball cap had pushed a thick brown envelope to another staff, whispering something before looking at AiLin as if pointing at the target.
The staff nodded, quickly waking toward Director Gu with a smile, "Director! The room for the act is quite rundown, we decide to change the room to class 3-4."
"Changing the class?" Sighed Director Gu. "Alright, make sure everything is set up there perfectly. This is the last scene of the school, fix everything in place. No mistake is allowed today!"
