Mrs Fox Heinous Revenge: Can You Love A Villainess like Me? -
Chapter 239: Watchful Traps
Chapter 239: Watchful Traps
After her conversation with Mr Baek, AiLin was rather filled with energy. It’s rare that she was full of a positive emotion and this was all thanks to seeing the good people who hadn’t betrayed her trust in humanity. After waving her hands to Mr Baek and promising to have a dinner together one day, she returned to her seat finding a cup of coffee placed with a small sticker saying "Good luck!".
She wondered who it was and before she could ask, a female staff had came toward her and she found the girl’s face familiar as she was also one of the girls who had always greeted her when she entered the acting set. The girl was particularly cheery with the name similar to her liveliness, TzeRi.
"I-If you don’t mind, Miss AiLin, I got that coffee this early morning with the other staffs. I heard you like sweet things so this is a vanilla coffee which is known for its sweet aftertaste! I-I hope you like it!"
AiLin had always been fond of young girls who look up to her. With such bright eyes and lively attitude, this had touched her and she couldn’t help but dote on TzeRi, she reached out to her pocket and pulled a few lemon candies to her hands, handing it out to the staff girl, "Thank you so much, TzeRi."
"M-My name! You remembered it!"
"Of course, I always look forward to seeing you every morning, if you ever need of help don’t be shy and ask me for one, alright?" Ailin offered but the girl shyly shook her head,
"That should be my word, good luck today too Miss Ailin! I’m rooting for you!"
AiLin smiled at the girl as she rushed away from the place, happily skipping steps as she left the coffee. AiLin looked at it and smiled, pulling the coffee to her lips, greeted by the sweet scent of vanilla.
"Woah not only men but girls?" Yanlan commented, "Miss Ailin please be careful of this poor manager of yours will be the one to bear the burnt. If Zi Chen ever heard about this oh my poor neck," he cried exaggerating his words.
"Shush what do you mean?" AiLin kicked him slightly in a playful manner. "Girls I understand but men? When have I interacted with any except for the shooting?"
"True I can stand by that but see over there on your left, don’t look too obviously, but that guy Xiao something something keeps staring at you. Oh if eyes can shoot fire you would have holes on your body by now."
She slowly turned her eyes and sure enough feeling her movement, Xiao MuChen looked away as if he hadn’t seen her at all but it was too obvious that he did considering how his phone was upside down. She doesn’t know why today he’s staring at her but she didn’t think much of it, Xiao MuChen wasn’t such a bad guy from her consideration, instead he was just awkward and would ask weird questions all over but that was all.
"He isn’t staring me for that reason you think," she brushed off the idea, "Besides, men are easier to take care but girls?" Her eyes stopped at FangMin as she speaks, "They are craftier, clever, the one you should be on lookout for."
"Heh, don’t worry I keep a lookout for you at anyone who surrounds you, even in Li Family!"
"Oh right," AiLin was now reminded by his absence, "You weren’t there when I visited li family house."
"Oh that... I don’t feel comfortable," he answered honestly while rubbing his cheeks, "Don’t you notice it when you went there AiLin? In that house there is no one incompetent. Every one of them is a high achiever on each of their field. Even the in laws are too well known in their work field, enough to shut anyone’s complains about them entering the family. Well unlike them I’m bad at studying, I have a bit of attention span issue which had almost got me kicked out ten times during my elementary school years. Li family are nice people but not all of them are so welcoming and open minded. Some will simply eye you for being a filth on their legacy while some others, well they won’t hold back and say it to your face every time it’s needed."
AiLin could somehow feel what Yanlan had gone through. "Unnecessary" "A shame" "Unneeded" those words haunt her since her childhood and though YanLan seemed to be less affected than his childhood self it must be uncomfortable to go back and see the faces of the people who often hurt your self esteem.
Sometimes relatives thought they were being benevolent by telling their nephew or nieces that they should do better or that they would be lesser than their cousins. However they fail to realize that there are children who would be less motivated when hearing themselves compared by their better cousins. Worse, they would eventually agree with the comments rudely made about them when the child could have a different talent on another field. Eventually they lose their confidence and grew up hating their inability to do better.
"They’re not right," AiLin said as she looked at the school.
"Well, haha, to some extent they are, I can’t even finish university you know? My studies are bad, I can’t even be artistic or good with technology enough to do something groundbreaking. I’m doing less than average in many field and the only thing I can be proud of is just how quick and sensitive I am to my surroundings."
AiLin looked at him who had awkwardly squeezed his face, as if wanting the conversation to be over. She wasn’t one to pursue the conversation either and drawl it but she felt she had to say it now.
"Yanlan, you’re better than the credit you give to yourself," holding the coffee cup, she placed it back to the table beside her, "Zi Chen doesn’t trust so many people and that’s telling but he trusts you and that’s not because you’re a part of his family but because he knew you’re more capable than anyone else. Every time I’m in danger, you know how to handle it and that perceptive attitude is something not many could have."
Yanlan was stunned. He didn’t mean to turn the air tense by talking about his feelings, after all it’s embarrassing for him to open his mouth and whine about these things, even his siblings told him that he should get over it and accept the defeat but hearing AiLin’s objective and sincere words made him to somewhat purse his lips into a wider smile.
"Really?"
"Yup, and also I heard you hacked several companies in the past just so you can watch a movie earlier than others, isn’t that something too groundbreaking?" AiLin muttered as she stood up, ready to start her acting.
"What? Isn’t that normal?" Yanlan’s focus was on the conversation that he wasn’t aware the shift on the coffee cup. "Everyone in Li family does that you know, my sister she could even hack a banking company and so she is working in the federal government specialize for cyber cases. I can’t compare to her."
The bar was too high... AiLin thought in her mind. It wasn’t that Yanlan wasn’t enough. He was simply living besides geniuses...
AiLin took another sip of her coffee as she looked at the director who had yelled for everyone to start on their position, "Alright you can watch for, here and take care of my coffee."
"Aye ma’am I’ll make sure that no one dares to do something to you again!"
"Yup! I trust you partner," AiLin linked her arms with him before leaving the place.
Upon reading the class 3-4 for the shoot, she found Xiao MuChen who seemed to be in such a bad mood. His expression eased when he saw her and quickly he walked toward her, walking past by only to stop at her side and whisper, "I’ve been seeing weird moves from the staffs."
"The staffs?" Ailin muttered back and he nodded.
"Today is the last scene for the school so there is too many things to do and so the head staff hired new people who works only for today but they aren’t trustworthy and most actors tend to be on their best behaviors knowing how these staffs could simply post something bad about them on Weibo. Oddly I saw almost all of them eyeing for you."
Goodness gracious. Seems like Xiao MuChen had seen her as a friend, close enough to tell her before problem spiral out of her control.
"Isn’t that because I’m new and yet has already started on director Gu’s movie?" After all they never seen her face or seen her acting, perhaps part of medias had mixed themselves in it so they could have a small glimpse of whether she could do good or bad in her acting.
"I wish but those eyes are the gaze of people who are waiting for you to do something bad. Be careful keep yourself out of the trouble as much as you can."
