Chapter 186: Girl’s Sweet Cry
Chapter 186: Girl’s Sweet Cry
Another day had passed as AiLin entered JS Entertainment. She was introduced to all the directors and scriptwriters, most of them were extremely friendly and kind to her despite being a rookie actress in a million dollar movie. The makeup artists who had taken care of her make up complemented her skin every time she dabbed the soft sponge over her skin, muttering, "You don’t even need too much makeup to cover your skin with how flawless it is! What routine do you follow, Miss AiLin?"
’Things that the prison gave her’
AiLin couldn’t answer the woman and simply smiled, thanking her and returning the complement.
"Then I will leave you here for a while. We still have to wait for the other actresses to finish their makeups."
"Sure, thank you very much for the beautiful make up," AiLin returned as the makeup artists giggled happily as she was thanked and praised. As the door shut close, AiLin turn to YanLan who was eyeing the list of names that were hung at the back of the door.
"Woah, these actress and actors. Actor Yu LuHan! The Seventh from that famous action movie- and isn’t this person the one who had worked all over Hollywood?!" YanLan took a picture of all the names and then walk toward her to show all the names.
AiLin take a look at all the actress’s names which didn’t seem to ring any bell to her head. Though she had known quite a few who were veteran and whose actings were very memorable to her, she didn’t know most of the new wave actress that had came the last six years.
She pointed her fingers at few of the names, tapping her finger at the phone, "Anyone in this list with a bad reputation?"
"I doubt so," said YanLan as he read the names, "Yes, none! I am an avid gossip readers so I know better than anyone most of them are without scandals. Except a few?"
There was nothing wrong than being too careful. Having too many enemies around her had caused AiLin to be on her guards and the best way to know your safety is to check the background of the people who you would be working with.
"Which few?" She asked and saw as YanLan pointed a few names.
"This one, this one, and this one. But rather than bad reputation, it was just rumors that hadn’t been proven to be right but also wrong."
She hummed as most of the names were men, "What did they do?"
"Leaving their pregnant wife? Affairs, bribery, and some of them even fake their awards by paying. I guess that’s all but since the production is handled by JS Entertainment, they should have checked whether these rumors were fake or true. If it was true, I expect that ZiChen and JingYi would have taken the actors out of the production."
She also agreed at the thought. Li ZiChen was someone who would think three steps ahead and he wouldn’t let there to be a chance for anyone dangerous to slip into the production.
Was she thinking far too much? Perhaps the happiness and peacefulness had began to crawl to her throat a little, making her feel anxious.
"...child..."
AiLin pushed herself from the chair, "I think it would be good to take a look at the set first. We can also greet the directors and writes."
"Oh! That’s a nice idea," YanLan quickly pulled a bag of nuts to his pocket and guarded her as she walked out of her room. Just as she stepped outside, she saw the other actress and actor who passed by her.
The actress wore a pink blouse, her curly brown hair pinned meticulously at the crown of her head to maintain its volume. She appeared startled upon spotting AiLin, her expression mirroring that of the actor beside her. His wide black eyes betrayed his shock, and for a brief moment, he seemed to flinch, recoiling as though he had just seen a ghost.
AiLin didn’t understood why they were so scared and surprised. More than surprised by her appearance that was sudden, they looked scared as if she had come in between their conversation that was private.
Seems like the actress was the one who quickly regain herself. She walked forward and smiled sweetly, her pearly necklace seems to match her princess vibe.
"Pardon, were we loud? JS Entertainment’s walls are usually very thick so I might have gone overboard with it."
AiLin shook her head, "I didn’t hear anything," reaching out her hand she spoke, "AiLin. Hua AiLin."
"Oh, my name is FangMin," she then looked at the man who was still wide eyed and stunned staring at AiLin. Even his mouth had gaped wide and could only be stopped until FangMin had elbowed his side.
"N- Nice to meet you as well," the actor quickly pulled himself together and AiLin wondered why he looked so surprised. Do they know each other?
"Can I know your name?" She asked him and he answered with clear hesitation over his face.
"MuChen. Xiao MuChen," the man answered quickly.
She tried to remember if she had ever seen anyone with the surname Xiao or the name MuChen but much to her surprised, she couldn’t remember by the name. She considered she might have heard of his name somewhere or perhaps forgotten it since her memories appear to be filled with holes.
Maybe she should take a break later and remember the name again, or maybe by getting closer to the two, she would know more about the young man and it would jog her memories.
"Don’t you have to go, Mister MuChen?" FangMin side eyed MuChen who seemed to have sigh and bowed to AiLin again to bid his goodbye before marching straight to the opposite hallway.
AiLin stared at the man’s back and then brushed her worries when FangMin had called her, "Sorry, we were arguing. Our roles need us to support each other but we can’t just agree our perspective acting method. MuChen there likes to analyze all his scripts but I am more of a person who acts by emotion. We clash whenever we want to get our emotion across."
AiLin looked at her crumpled script and the other one that had fallen down the ground. Thinking it was MuChen’s, Ailin bent to pick it up while FengMin explained the reason for their earlier fight. She patted the crumpled script and open it to find the immense paragraphs written between each script, meaning that MuChen was indeed an analyzer which had annoyed FangMin.
"Is it not your first time acting together?" AiLin inquired and the woman chuckled in front of her.
"I did hear you’re a rookie but I didn’t know that you don’t also watch movies," though she had speak nicely, AiLin was worried how she might have sounded rude and pompous for not recognizing FengMin and MuChen’s acting which must have gone famous before.
She rubbed her head and muttered, "I was more of a theatrical actress. I didn’t get to watch movie too much for the last six years too so I’m not really familiar."
Surprise seemed to rest on FengMin’s long lashes, "No wonder. I saw your acting too, the audition tape? I shudder every time I remember your acting but no matter how long I searched of your movies, I found out that you had never properly act before. But someone who could produce such emotion must have been an actress before, turns out you were a theatrical actress. Now it make sense."
AiLin felt relieved to see her harmless lies seemed to have worked and pretended that it was true.
"MuChen and I had worked in a few movies," FengMin explained again, "We were basically partners especially since we come from the same agency. That’s why I wish you would keep it a quiet that we fought today. I don’t want the directors to know about it since they hate the idea of actor’s quarrels and dramas."
"Don’t worry, I won’t say anything. I’ll be going to the set now, see you again Miss FengMin."
"Good luck!" FengMin waved her hands and when AiLin turned her heels, the woman’s smile fell in a drop of second. She stared at AiLin’s back for a while and when YanLan snapped his head backward, she quickly darted her eyes, her lips pursing as she strode off the spot in a storm.
AiLin barely had time to process her surroundings before YanLan’s voice floated beside his, laced with amusement. "I have to admit," YanLan whispered,, "it’s practically a talent how you always manage to attract the worst kinds of people."
Turning her head, she shrugged, "You mean those two? Do you know anything about them?"
"Of course," sang YanLan, "FengMin, the actress, a well known affair addict. She basically come all over the women who is known to be in a relationship, befriend them, and then steal their husband or partner. MuChen? He’s known for the bribing that I told you about. Rumors say that he is so bad at acting that it was basically poking your eyes with a needle to just watch him act."
AiLin squeezed her eyes. It was really her talent to attract only the worst kinds of people.
YanLan then patted her shoulders, loosening the worries that tied her brows together, "But if they are here, it means that those were rumors."
"But it’s never wrong to be careful about those two," AiLin pressed her thumb on her forehead as they walked around the corner to where the light greet them. "Besides there’s something with Xiao MuChen that I need you to look for. He seems to know me but I don’t know what he recognize from me-
"MAMA!"
AiLin flinched as a small being ran up to her leg, hugging tightly with its small hands wrapped around her calves in a tight embrace. When she looked down, her heart dropped as she saw an angelic little girl with hair tied into twin ponytails and a sweet smile that seemed to have been as sweet as marshmallows.
"Mama! Mama!"
