Chapter 152: Dropping Memories

AiLin saw how blue Li JingYi’s face had turned from fear and guilt. He had looked to her index finger that had turned red and immediately called for help, "We need an ambulance! Call th—"

"Oh calm down," AiLin shushed everyone as she stood up from the floor and then patted her knees. She looked down on the solution that had fallen on the floor. "Seems like the acid she was going to throw to you had been diluted so much that it would only make your skin burn upon touch, not enough to dissolve them or leave a permanent scar."

"How do you know that?" Li JingYi asked with a look of confusion.

AiLin shrugged her shoulders, "Maybe because I have used it before?"

"To destroy someone’s face?!" Li JingYi inquired as she reached out her hand and flicked his forehead.

"No of course, I have used it in a science fair," sighing she then turn to look at the stalker and pulled the cap that was hiding the stalker’s face along with the face mask. She hummed while looking at the stalker before pointing her face to Li JingYi. "So do you know who she is? Familiar face that ring in your mind?"

Staring at the woman, Li JingYi shook his head, "I don’t think I know her."

"Maybe your ex lover? Or someone you spend the night with?" AiLin had asked lightly only to see Li JingYi whose body shook and face turned flushed red. He blinked and stammered from shock.

"W- w- what do you mean by spending the night?! No! I didn’t have any one night stand with a stranger, what kind of person do you think I am?" He rubbed his face in embarrassment, like a virgin thought AiLin.

"So you don’t know her," AiLin then crouched toward the stalker, "How do you know Li JingYi?"

"He’s my hubby!" The stalker said with a wide eerie grin that made everyone who looked at her face including YanLan and Tsuki to shudder. Even though they had seen even worse and crazier people, they still felt chill running down their spine upon seeing the girl’s wide smile. "He and I promised to get married in this Summer."

AiLin slowly eyed Li JingYi who felt accused and shouted, "No! I never want to get married in the Summer! I like to be married in the Spring!"

"Where do you know Li JingYi from?" AiLin asked the stalker again who frown and then glare her eyes at her.

"You— you’re the bitch who kept separating us from being closer to each other! How dare you! I’ll kill you! You’re not prettier than me so who do you think you are?!"

"I do believe I’m a bit good looking than you," Ailin said which made the stalker even angrier as she struggled to be released from YanLan’s tight grip. She yelled curses but AiLin shushed her, "See, I’m actually Li JingYi’s older sister in law. Don’t you think you should be nice to me? I don’t like violent and tight lipped people into our family. I won’t bless your wedding if you continue to act this aggressive."

The stalker’s eyes widened and she quickly softened her tone, "S- Sister in law? I- I’m sorry I didn’t recognize you..."

"Then answer my question," AiLin gently nudged her and the stalker was swayed not knowing the darkness underlying her face. "Go on. How do you know and from where do you know Li JingYi from?"

"A- a friend," whispered the stalker. She was insane so her words bore too less of weight for them to trust but AiLin could feel that she had spoken the truth now.

"What kind of friend? A female?"

The stalker nodded, "A close friend! She introduced me to JingYi after I broke up with my ex fiancee! She introduced me to him from the night club but she told me that JingYi is too shy so we will start talking from afar and through texts."

"Through texts, can I see the texts?" Ailin offered gently and her words so friendly that the stalker willingly help her open her own phone and showed to her the texts that were filled for months. Reading through it, it was clear that the stalker wasn’t imagining the said relationship with Li JingYi. They were actually in such a romantic relationship through the texts. Even worse, the texter had sent JingYi’s own pictures as if he was really speaking to her. The only thing he ever refused was face call which meant that someone had really used JingYi’s identity.

AiLin was suspicious as she quickly looked through the call histories and friend chats. The stalker being someone introverted didn’t have so many people she had talked with but there were a few that captured her attention. Those texts came from a girl. A familiar girl with the name "Mei Hua".

Li JingYi, Tsuki, and YanLan were standing behind AiLin who was looking through the texts. As the three men were taller than her, they could see all the texts from the back and were horrified at what they had seen. Li JingYi’s expression wasn’t good from the start but it had turned so much paler when he saw the texts were sent from Mei Hua who was the one supporting the girl to be in a relationship with his fake identity.

"I- I never texted this girl," Li JingYi said in a hurry, wanting to clear his name, "I don’t have any other phone number, I don’t text people unless it’s for work, I have never been in a relationship since my elementary school."

"We know that to be true as well," Tsuki answered, "JingYi wouldn’t want to play with a lady’s heart like this."

"Exactly! You trust me, right sister in law?" There were almost tears on Li JingYi’s face as he begged for her to nod her head in return.

AiLin waved her hand, "Why would I suspect you? I can tell you’re a good person. This however was the work of someone who wanted to capitalize on your reputation. The person in question seems to be Mei Hua though."

"What do we do now?" YanLan asked, "Should we call the police and hand in the evidence? We can put Mei Hua in jail this way."

"No, that’s not enough evidence to make Mei Hua be behind bars. You should also know that even if she did try to encourage the girl to be in relationship with Li JingYi, there was never an evidence that said Mei Hua to be the one who had been working behind the screen with the impersonator. It’s not enough to make her be imprisoned. I looked through the entire chats and there wasn’t the conclusive evidence of when Mei Hua promising to introduce the stalker to JingYi. Mei Hua could simply feign innocent and say someone impersonate her as well."

"But this texts..." Li JingYi whispered, "I know the way she types. This is really Mei Hua. It is her second account..."

"But that won’t be enough to prove anything," AiLin said and looking at Li JingYi’s betrayed face, she couldn’t help but pat the young man’s back gently, feeling guilty. Even though it wasn’t her doing or her fault, Li JingYi really did not deserve to be liking someone as horrible as Mei Hua. She also questioned why Mei Hua would do this. From what she knew, Mei Hua comes from a wealthy family. Money wasn’t the problem. So why was she doing this?

For attention? For her laughs?

What a frightening woman, thought AiLin.

"Either way, I have an idea. First take care of this matter and make sure this incident doesn’t spread too far wide. Make it specially clear that this incident was just rumors and it doesn’t fall to Mei Hua’s ears," AiLin crossed her arms as YanLan had brought the stalker toward the security. Looking at the stalker from afar AiLin sighed, "She’s a victim but also because she had hurt you, she needs to be punished."

Li JingYi was wordless, only hanging his head low in sadness.

AiLin then patted his back again, "One day, you will find a sincere person to stay beside you, don’t be too discouraged."

"No! I’m just... i didn’t know how foolish I was. Even after I cut off my contact to her, I believed that maybe one day she would change."

AiLin carefully studied Li JingYi who was really heartbroken. Rather than being sad upon finding out the girl she had crushed on for years since childhood had fallen in love with his own older brother, he seemed more defeated in finding out that the said girl had turned out to be someone vicious.

"People don’t really change," AiLin said as she recalled how all her bullies remain a bully as they reached adulthood. "But one day you will find someone who doesn’t need to change, someone who would be nice to you and always be on your side." Just like Li Zi Chen... yes.

Li JingYi nodded, "Thank you sister. If not for you, I think today I would have lost my handsome face."

AiLin couldn’t help but laugh, "Yes. Yes. I can’t have my brother in law having his face ruined before mariage right? Anyway, if you are ever looking for a girl, tell me. I’ll help you find one!"

Li JingYi pursed his lower lips and acted cutely towards her, "really? But I like kind girls."

"I have a lot of kind girls who I know," she nudged him with her elbow. "But first let’s take care of this mess you have so you can move on completely alright?"

"Yes!"
