Chapter 151: Devoted To You

AiLin sighed as everything fell into place. She turned her eyes briefly at Mu Ke who had called out for Mu HanYi to help him find the right page for his signature. Taking this chance, AiLin pressed her phone, texting the one person who she knew was more aware of any secrets around Beijing than anyone else. The person she turned to was none other than Li ZiChen.

She had just pressed her keys, texting him in short sentence [HangZhou that bastard have a sibling?]

Suddenly before she could continue her explanation, her phone rang. She pulled her phone quickly to her ears, hearing Li ZiChen’s deep voice that settled her heart down. He spoke after a brief hum, "Where did you heard about that?"

"I met Mu Ke... he’s a novelist. Well to make it short he was someone I knew back in high school."

"I see, so you have met Mu Ke," Li ZiChen said which made her ears perked up.

"You know Mu Ke too?"

"He’s a friend of mine," he answers briefly and while she question why she never found out about that before, Li ZiChen attracted her attention by answering her previous question, "Yes. Mu Ke’s real name is HangKe. He is the eldest of Hang Family but was abandoned because he was born blind."

"So I was right," she muttered with her eyebrows furrowed. "Does HangZhou know about this?"

"No. I don’t think Mu Ke wants to introduce himself as HangZhou’s brother either." Li ZiChen who was on the other side of the call then turned his face coldly at the people kneeling in front of him, underneath their knees were blood as his gloved hands were still dripping with fresh red liquid. He slowly took it off and pushed it to Taiyo’s hands as he was standing beside the Boss, before serving him with a fresh new black gloves.

AiLin was unaware of the stifling cries in the background and continued on as she had found an information, "Why wouldn’t Mu Ke want to introduce himself? Yeah, I did heard from Mu HanYi that once in the past Mu Ke tried to reach out to his birth family but eventually stop."

"Disappointment," Li ZiChen sang as he slowly scoffed, "Imagine being abandoned as a baby not because your family wish to protect you or because they weren’t capable or equipped to have a child yet. Rather he was abandoned because he was blind. Mu Ke didn’t know about it before but after seeing HangZhou and learning the truth, he immediately dropped his desire to seeing his birth family. Oh, and also because he’s ashamed to have a brother like HangZhou. Mu Ke has a strong sense of justice you see, and seeing HangZhou he only felt disgust."

"I would understand him," sighed AiLin as she agreed to Mu Ke’s decision on dropping his search to find his birth family. "But this is amusing," she chuckled with a faint grin. "How do you think HangZhou would react to finding out that he has an older brother? Someone more capable than him even."

Li ZiChen seemed to understand AiLin’s quick thought into her revenge plan he slowly softened the edges of his lips, "Of course he would be afraid of losing his position as the young master HangZhou but you have to remember that Mu Ke is blind. That’s his only flaw to the family. If not for it, I can assure you that Hang Family would beg for him to come back."

"Right. Right," AiLin suddenly thought of something and grin even wider, "But what if HangZhou is more worthless than a blind man? Blindness can still be saved but there are things that we could ruin from HangZhou. Yes, to the point that he’s more worthless than a man who was born without eyes." She could hear Li ZiChen’s chuckles coming from the other side of the call, hearing that he agrees to her plan as he let out a soft laugh.

"Sounds like an interesting idea," Li ZiChen whistled, "Tell me when you have came up with a plan. I’d like to be involved."

"Certainly, you’re my ally aren’t you?" AiLin said softly without realizing how surprised Li ZiChen was that AiLin had called him an ally. He knew that she had always kept herself closed from anyone’s presence, not wanting to be betrayed again. So to hear her call him her ally was akin to a blissful sunlight after a long year of storm.

"Mhm," he whispered and she could feel the warmth that radiate from the other end of the phone, filling her heart with an overwhelming sense of delight. "I am your ally," he repeated in joy as though he was in a room so dark that the world around him felt so empty, her words brought so much light that had made his once gloomy heart to feel an immediate sense of hope.

Once the call ended, AiLin felt a sense of lingering warmth on her fingers. She could feel the heat on her ears, her heart feeling peaceful just by hearing Li ZiChen’s voice as if he was the sedative medicines that she used to gobble up every time she felt anxious. To have someone to immediately call whenever needed turns out to mean so much more for her than what she imagined.

As she pushed her phone back inside her purse, she saw YanLan who slowly walked beside her and whispered, "That’s the stalker."

AiLin narrowed her eyes as the stalker walked closer, being the next in line after a couple who was still having their books and merchandise signed by Mu Ke. "Let’s pull her aside while Tsuki takes away the vase from her hand. I have a bad feeling about that vase."

"Agreed," YanLan looked at Tsuki as the two nodded upon sending each other a cue.

The stalker who was covered from head to toe slowly walked as the couple in front of her had left the table. Her breathings were labored and she turned her eyes aside at Li JingYi who was talking to the other guests with wide friendly smile which made her eyes to turn even more hateful than ever. She grumbled under her breaths, her words coming muffled as her mouth was covered by the mask.

"How could you laugh to someone else- you promised you will only smile for me."

"...you said that I’m your only one. You’re a liar. A liar. A liar .A liar. A liar. A liar. A liar. A liar. Li JingYi is it because of your handsome face that you think you’re allowed to break your promise to me?? Is it because I’m uglier than you?" She began to let out a frightening giggle under her mask, swearing, "If that’s the case then... we just need to steal your handsome face. Once you’re as ugly as me, you’re forced to be loyal to me forever. Haha.. heheh.. Hahahhaha!"

The stalker placed the vase on the table first and while Mu Ke was questioning where he should sign as his eyes couldn’t see the big vase that was placed before him. But she ignored Mu Ke’s words, her eyes turning around the places as she suddenly lose sight of Li JingYi who was standing beside the table just a minute ago. She clenched her hand on the vase and angrily pulled out something from inside the vase.

Mu Ke wasn’t able to see so the one who had immediately protected him was none other than Mu HanYi. Meanwhile, the stalker pulled out a brown glass bottle from inside the vase, her eyes rushed to find anyone she could see, searching for Li JingYi as her target. She had pulled the bottle closer to her hand and when she saw Li JingYi, her smile widened to her ears, she yelled, "HAHA NOW YOU’LL LOOK LIKE ME!"

But before she could throw the content of the bottle toward Li JingYi, someone had held her hand, stealing the bottle from her fingers while someone else had kicked her by the back of her knees, subduing her easily down to the ground. Someone had also pushed their entire weight to her back, making sure she was stopped for good.

The stalker struggled to let go, yelling wildly as if she was a caught wild animal from the forest. YanLan who had pushed her down to the ground didn’t look happy even though he had managed to subdue the stalker. Instead, his eyes scanned the surrounding to find AiLin, "Miss AiLin! Are you alright?!"

"Miss AiLin! Did the content of the bottle spill to you?!" Tsuki yelled as he looked toward her, making sure first that her hands were not harmed and nothing else on her body was hurt.

Everyone’s eyes were running toward her, knowing that she was the one who had pulled the bottle with an odd content from the Stalker’s hands. AiLin winced but she shook her head, assuring Tsuki that she was only hurt in her index finger. Earlier when she had pulled the bottle, the content did spill a little to her index finger but nothing more than that. While Li JingYi’s face had turned pale as he staggered walking toward AiLin, the young man began to sob, "Why— why did you protect me?! It wasn’t your job!"
