Mrs Fox Heinous Revenge: Can You Love A Villainess like Me? -
Chapter 146: Apprehended Stalker
Chapter 146: Apprehended Stalker
"So much resources wasted only on me?" AiLin shook her head and dismissed the idea, "Better not."
"No. No. No," whined Li JingYi. As he had seen her as his sister in law, he acted to her the way he would act to his older brother. He clutched to her arms and lead her away from the director’s room, making his way to the elevator and pressed the lobby. She understood immediately where they would be going to and panicked.
"I’m not meeting the novelist!"
She knew what Li JingYi wanted to do, to sway her even more as he saw the hesitation and how possible it is for her to cave into the pressure. She closed her eyes tightly while Li JingYi smiled seeing her hesitation. No one can hide their inner desire. He also knew well how deep down AiLin wants to act but was prevented from doing so by her inner resistance.
"Listen! You’ll know why we choose you after seeing the novelist," said Li JingYi in a hurry. "You’ll understand! Just once, we won’t pressure you to act if you really don’t want to."
She closed her eyes tighter as she felt herself dragged out of the elevator though Li JingYi had barely been using any of his power to pull her.
"Oh, isn’t she..." an unknown voice rained into her ears.
AiLin looked up to see a young man with a long hair. His eyes were rather hazy grey as he stared into her, the color of his eyes were almost milky and transparent and with just once glance, AiLin could tell that he couldn’t look with the two eyes.
The one who had spoke in alertness wasn’t him but the young girl beside her who immediately noticed who she was in one glance.
"Sir Mu Ke," Said the young girl to the blind man who was helped to sit down at the table of the book signing. The young girl gently held the novelist’s hands and spoke with tenderness, "There’s the young actress that you chose."
"Oh!" Mu Ke, the young man with blind eyes weren’t looking directly toward her. He was directed to know where AiLin was standing but his eyes weren’t particularly staring straight at her.
AiLin was startled upon seeing the young man’s face and the familiar name. She gulped slowly and look again at the people around her, realizing it seemed that she was the only one who recognize Mu Ke while everyone around her wasn’t aware of their relationship, including Mu Ke himself.
She sighed in relief and slowly pulled a small smile.
"I’m not sure if I’m looking at you," said Mu Ke gently, "But I am glad that we have finally meet. I have heard your audition tape and although I would like to say that I have seen your expression, I couldn’t exactly see with these eyes."
"Oh geez," the young girl commented, "Sir Mu Ke, you shouldn’t say that as a joke. Look everyone is having a trouble on responding to your dark humor."
"Haha," Mu Ke laughed as he was helped by the young girl to walk toward AiLin’s side. He reached out his hand, trying to take hers. AiLin allowed the blind young man to find her fingers even though she would usually feel hesitant to let herself be touched by someone else.
But she knew Mu Ke.
This was the only young man in her high school who had tried helping her despite being blind. He was someone who had heard her rumors and they had accidentally cross paths when they were young. She was crying back then and he had heard her cries. Though he doesn’t know her well, he had helped her to stand up after falling from the staircase and she had heard first hand how Mu Ke tried to stop the people from spreading the rumors about her pregnancy, protecting her image even though they only cross paths once.
How entertaining, thought AiLin. This young man who helped her now had become a novelist, a famous one. He’s also working under JS Entertainment, Li ZiChen’s company. It was as if fate had been tied together for this to happen.
"You have such kind hands," said Mu Ke as he laughed, "Though people wouldn’t understand what I mean by that. I heard that you were hesitant about the role, Miss AiLin."
They both walked toward the chair as Li JingYi helped AiLin to take a chair and sit beside Mu Ke. The entire conversation, Mu Ke had such a peaceful smile and this made AiLin to feel nostalgic as he had been the same since high school.
"It was just that... I don’t think I’m capable of taking the responsibility. I’m not actually an actress."
"You are not?" Mu Ke asked, incredulous. "That’s not possible is it? You see, Miss AiLin, I’m blind."
"I can see that..." she awkwardly drawl as he laughed out loud as if it was the funniest joke he had ever heard.
"Yes yes! So you know a blind man’s words are the most trustful don’t you?" He crinkled the corner of his eyes as he muttered, "This novel is my first ever successful novel. I’m quite proud of it, after all a good friend of mine were the one who pitched the idea for the plot though he soon told me that he wish that his name wouldn’t ever be mentioned in the book. He only gave me the idea and left the storyline to me as well as the ending. I was at first so confused to navigate this story but once I have written everything out, I felt extremely proud and this became a child of mine."
"What about your good friend, did he like the book?" AiLin asked with a prickling curiosity on her back.
He saw Mu Ke who shook his head in amusement, "Like? No! Even better! He cried when he read the novel. He came to my apartment, a sobbing mess. Then he told me that this was the one. That this is the story that he wanted to read. He was also the one who told me to publish the book. I didn’t expect much but I’m glad to find out that everyone liked it. This is why when I first gotten the offer of making the novel into a movie, I became extremely skeptical. I don’t want my story to be made into something lackluster. I can describe things by words and emotions by sentences, but I don’t believe that mere faces and expressions were enough to make one understand the emotions of the characters in my novel."
AiLin understood Mu Ke’s skepticism, especially since he spoke so well about his book which meant a lot to him. She nodded and spoke thoughtfully, "That’s the more reason for you to take a good care when choosing the lead actress, not some newbie like me."
"No." His grey eyes moved toward her, staring intently. "It has to be you. I don’t want to burden you but this is what I felt upon hearing your tape. As a blind person, I believe voice is the most honest than expressions. It’s easy to mask your expression and act but it’s difficult to hide your emotions from your face. There I heard everything. The pain, the sadness, and what my characters went through, all her emotions coming from you. You’re the one. You will be the one to help me make the bridge to people who are also blind like me, your acting is more than just talent, Miss AiLin. I believe your acting is a godsend gift for us."
Something deep in her heart felt strung by Mu Ke’s words. When a kind person and honest like him spoke so thoughtfully about her acting, it made her feel hopeful. It also made her feel rewarded and acknowledged. She didn’t know that her acting would be so well received. From Li JingYi, the directors, Mu Ke, the writers, and... Li ZiChen.
It made her feel a little saddened that she has to deny the opportunity.
Deny. But why?
Because she feared that she would have another reason to continue her life after all her plans ended?
Because she wanted to be free from everything and leave as soon as her plans came to a close?
If that’s the case, then why was her heart aching? Why does it desperately wish to be the one to take the acting role?
AiLin couldn’t understand it but she... she find herself enchanted by the idea of acting, as if the last push was finally made to bring her mind into a decision.
In the back of her mind, she could hear Li Zi Chen’s words, whispering so gently to her ears, saying, "AiLin, you will do good. Don’t worry." She doesn’t know why that voice felt so real when he hadn’t said that to her. As if she had heard it but long ago...
"If I fail—"
"I’ll help you sister! You won’t fail!" Li JingYi said happily as he noticed she had made up her mind. In excitement, he had held her hand, raising it upward to the sky, not knowing the face of someone that had darkened terribly seeing him smiling while holding to AiLin’s hands.
