Chapter 145: Stalked Stalkers
Pushing his nose toward the documents, Li JingYi was about to commit misdeeds by running away from all his responsibilities and works and go off to another country to embrace a new journey. But when he thought of his older brother’s face Li JingYi’s mischievousness immediately disappeared with a poof. A young man stood beside him, arms crossed with a glasses resting on his eyes. Though he looked different now, the young man is still Tsuki, Li ZiChen’s right hand man who was assigned to stick with Li JingYi for his protection.
Tsuki had known Li JingYi for quite a long time thus he poked Li JingYi’s back and teased, "What? Heartbroken?"
"W- w- what do you mean by heartbroken?! I’m not!" He huffed, puffing up his cheeks in annoyance.
"Yes, yes, you’re always like this you know? When back in kindergarten, the girl you like instead confessed to you that she likes the Boss. Maybe the time when you realized that your desk mate who you had a crush on for three years turned out to be your brother’s biggest fan? Now you found out that your childhood sweetheart turns out to be an obsessive woman who’s been chasing after your brother again."
"Ugh shut up," Li JingYi covered his ears beside his head.
"You know? I found this weird," Tsuki said with a faint grin, "Though you should have felt defeated and annoyed by the Boss, you only perk up happily when you hear his phone calls? Do you not mind the fact that those girls choose him instead of you?"
Li JingYi quickly sat up on his chair and crossed his arms. His shoulders puffed up, his smile widening evenly as he tooted his nose in proud manner, "Duh? There’s no way in this world that there’s a woman who wouldn’t be able to resist my brother’s charm! He’s handsome, smart, and above all very kind and loyal! You can’t get him anywhere, he’s one of a kind." Then Li JingYi slumped down, "Well of course I envied him sometimes but really, he’s been there for me longer than any girls, so how could I ever choose a girl over our brotherhood? Moreover, I did like Mei Hua but after knowing what she did to my sister in law? Ugh, she’s nothing more than those women who’s been causing my brother nightmares, how can I even preserve my love for her."
"Then why are you sad?" Tsuki poked around with a tilt of his head.
"Well! How can I not?! I spent more than ten years loving her, ugh my heart is still in ache thinking about it."
Hearing this, Tsuki couldn’t help but let out a hearty laugh he patted the confused Li JingYi on his back, commending, "Really! You’re such a good person. HAHAHHA!"
Li JingYi stared back at Tsuki with a raise of his eyebrows, wondering why this guy was laughing for something so obvious. Before he could let out a complain, the door open after a knock. Looking forward, Li JingYi was surprised to see AiLin who had came. She waved her hand, greeting happily, "Hey, we’re here JingYi."
"Oh! Sister in law!" Li JingYi rushed toward AiLin. After concluding that AiLin was such a perfect woman for his brother, Li JingYi was the most welcome brother in law on earth to ever accept AiLin to the family. He jumped around and Ailin saw his curly brown hair to appear similar like an adorable puffy little puppy. She couldn’t help but place her hand on his head even though he was taller and gave it a few pat which Li JingYi didn’t seem to mind as he grinned all the way to his ears. "What makes you come here? Oh! You must be here to sign the contract for the movie? If that’s the case come here, I’ll help you read out all the clause and make sure that they’re good for you."
"No no, I didn’t come for..." she couldn’t even finish before she was dragged by JingYi outside the room. He ignored YanLan who was trying to speak and brought AiLin all the way to the director room. When AiLin was inside, she fell into confusion on how to refuse politely. She was still wrecking her mind for an answer when something caught her attention from the corner of her eyes and when she turned, she noticed a large picture of a beautiful woman.
She was holding to a mic while singing, her appearance like a fairy with long curly black hair, and the golden gown she wore was like a butterfly’s wings. She was immediately enamored by the picture and turned all over the walls to see that there were more pictures posted on the walls. Some were familiar as they were the operas that she used to watch as a big fan. There was also a theater actor that she was particularly admire for her deliverance.
Upon seeing the familiar faces of only all those famous actors and actress in the entertainment industry that she ever admired, AiLin was startled. She stared at the pictures, finding that all of them were the ones she used to often watch as a solace back in middle school.
Her lips were parted in shock as she looked at all the portrait, realizing that this place was similar to her core memory hall.
"This is..." she drawled as JingYi stopped upon seeing her shock seeing the pictures. "Ah! This is a one of a kind poster made during each of the actors and actress performances. They are all signed directly by them too! I remember brother having a tough time getting a few of it as they are considered a national treasure to theaters."
"What?" She blinked as she turned to JingYi, "Zi Chen collected all of this?"
"He did," nodded Li JingYi, he stopped at the pictures, staring at it and then reminisced on the past, "When brother was still in middle school, he suddenly had this big admiration of actors and actress in theaters despite never going to them at all before. He collected each of them meticulously and some were very specific. He told me that he wanted this actor’s poster only when he was performing ’World Is Never Enough’ script."
AiLin knew that title immediately as it was the performance that she kept on watching for hundreds of times before.
She frowned as the coincidence seemed to have struck a chord in her head.
"Anyway," Li JingYi brushed off, pulling her arm to get her attention, "You knew all this actors and actress, doesn’t that mean you like acting? No wonder! I knew you have been studying acting in the past or perhaps someone who has been admiring this field. Your acting before, it was amazing! So much so that the novelist who saw your acting cried upon seeing you. She told us that she wanted you to take the role no matter what, and promise to pay you handsomely for the role."
Since the time in prison, Ailin admire the novelist who had captured all those important emotions very delicately which gave her comfort in the past throughout her hardest time. That was why upon finding out that the novelist was very keen on having her as the lead actress, her initial choice to refusing the role shook. She bite down her lips and shook her head, "But I’m not an actress, I might be able to act one scene, but what about the rest? I’m not used to the cameras and I’m not used to the environment of actings."
"Everything can be taught, sister in law," said Li JingYi keenly.
The young man’s face that was always childish seemed more mature than usual as it bore similarity to Li ZiChen’s eyes that were always so firm. It was so firm that it made her feel as if she could trust her entire weight on him and lean on his shoulders. That sense of security was something she couldn’t have known if it wasn’t for Li ZiChen’s presence.
She pursed her lips, "But it would take time."
"It doesn’t matter," Li JingYi said with a proud smile, "You see. Finding an actress that would fit so much to a certain role is difficult. Especially with Director Chu and Gu as the one directing this movie, they want everything to be perfect. They want someone who could present the raw emotions which is quite difficult to do with some actresses as they couldn’t connect to the main character of the novel. It wasn’t only that we saw her in you, we also saw your talent and trust me, no one would complain about anything upon seeing your acting. I can say it as proudly as I can tell you that my brother had never failed winning any business contract."
Hearing the comparison made AiLin to laugh. She fiddled with her fingers as her initial choice was slowly swayed more by the very convincing argument made by Li JingYi. Such young man would only speak honestly. He could see her talent and believe in it which touched her heart. Never in her life that someone had been so confident in her, to give her so much trust as Li JingYi and Li ZiChen had given to her.
She didn’t want to fail their trust in them and for once, she wanted to believe in herself again.
"How about this?" Li JingYi eyed her and knew she was near the process of being swayed into his charm. He who knew talents, wanted only for AiLin to take this chance when she seemed to be wanting it secretly in his heart. He wondered if this was the reason why his brother had sent her here as he knew that no one in this field was more convincing than himself. "How about you give a try to take this role while studying under an actress?"
