"The visiting hours are opened, the VIP room is on the far corner on the left."

The nurse who was with a gentle smile knew well the woman who was standing in front of her with the bob cut hair and a grey blazer. She had an aura more demanding than most VIP males who the nurse had seen, feeling like the real Boss while the others she had seen were merely in managerial positions.

Mrs Hua Valentine looked at the kind young nurse and stared at the nameplate as they walked beside each other, "How old are you?"

Seeing the gentle Valentine’s expression, the nurse answered eagerly as being in a VIP’s good side is always certain for giving good fortune to them as well. She answered eagerly, "Twenty four."

"Twenty four," Valentine repeated what she heard before she looked forward at the VIP room that was set far away from the rest of the room, as if the entire floor was made to accommodate for just this one room. Though her mother would always be a private person, Valentine knew well how she love to show off to others, to tell them how she’s on top of everyone else and assert dominance.

Valentine looked at the nurse again who bore similar height to AiLin which was why looking at her touched Valentine’s heart. She spoke gently, "I have a suggestion for you."

"Yes?"

"Don’t be too friendly to me next time," Valentine gently pushed something inside the nurse’s chest pocket as she turned her face back at the VIP door with its gold handle, "It’s for your own sake, little nurse."

The nurse didn’t know what Hua Valentine meant, thinking the lady was angry with how chummy she was. Feeling embarrassed, the nurse bent her neck downward when the door of the room suddenly snapped open. A large man stood near the sliding door, staring at Hua Valentine with scorn in his eyes. The nurse felt scared seeing the man as she could feel that he had a power that could crush someone’s bone effortlessly. He had a big burn scar on the back of his bald head which seemed like a trophy to him.

Then an old woman was sitting on the bed of the hospital room. The old woman’s eyes stare straight at the door at Hua Valentine, never giving a single gaze back at the nurse. Though the nurse had heard that Hua Valentine and the elderly woman on the bed to be mother and daughter, there were barely warmth in the old woman’s eyes as she stared down at Hua Valentine. It wasn’t disappointment that contoured the old woman’s frown, rather it was.... Disgust.

"Leave," whispered Hua Valentine and the nurse back three steps from them before rushing out of the hallway.

Hua Valentine then looked at the large man and spoke with a calm tone, "I thought I as called here by Elder Hua."

The man in front of her frown, as if despising her haughty attitude when he found her as beneath him.

Hua Valentine didn’t budge in front of the clear disdain given by someone hired by her mother. Even though BaoZi, who was not only hired by her mother but was once a servant who had to mop their entire house, was looking down on her, he also dared to look at her without respect and had always been the one to exact his mother’s anger to her.

But Hua Valentine was as calm as the morning’s light as she stared inside the room at her mother who seemed to have turned to look at the window, ignoring her presence.

Then BaoZi finally stepped away which allowed Hua Valentine to enter the room. There was still a bandage on her forehead to hide the scar of the vase that had been thrown by Elder Hua on her last visit.

BaoZi then left the room as if reading Elder Hua’s thoughts, leaving the two together. Silence filled the room as there were only two estranged mother and child who never felt such a bond to each other.

From the bed, the voice came out, "I will not accept that child to our family."

Hua Valentine was quiet. The child Elder Hua mentioned is none other than her daughter AiLin. She easily responded with the calm tone, "My husband’s family will take her in. It doesn’t matter if Hua Family doesn’t want to acknowledge her."

Elder Hua’s eyes then moved coldly at Hua Valentine. Though they looked so similar, seeing it didn’t make Elder Hua happy, instead she seemed mortified to see their similarities.

"Then I will take your husband’s life."

"You can’t," answered Hua Valentine with no effort. She then lifted her face and looked at the once frightening woman in her life, looking so much thinner and bonier than ever. "You have tried to kill him so many times, it didn’t work before, mother, it won’t work now."

This seems to struck a chord on Elder Hua’s throat. She glared at Hua Valentine, as if looking at an annoying bug. "Do you think that by leaving that child to the young master of Li Family, she would be safe then?"

"Yes," Hua Valentine answered lazily while she stared back at Elder Hua’s eyes with no hesitation. "You can try harming one member of Li Family and you know what would happen. The last time you have harmed their eldest son, I remember brother’s death. They have quite a history about paying blood back with blood, you wouldn’t want to have them on your tails—"

Hua Valentine moved to the side as she saw a fast moving blur beside her face. She then stood still again as the loud crash resounded on the wall behind her. What Elder Hua had thrown across the room was none other than a plate and a knife that was kept to cut the fruits. The fruits on the plates were scattered on the ground, squashed while the knife fell near Hua Valentine’s feet which reflected her cold glint on the cold blade.

"Mother," Hua valentine spoke. The way she had called out "Mother" only burned Elder Hua’s throat. She smiled sincerely to Elder Hua, a smile that was genuine from the bottom of her heart as she whispered. "It won’t be long before you meet your maker. You don’t have to shorten the number of your days."
