Chapter 134: Die Faster—I

Truthfully AiLin had acted impulsively. It wasn’t her first time to do things in impulse, it was something that she shouldn’t have done and she should have thought everything through before moving a step forward but she couldn’t help herself what had happened. Back then after seeing the audition script, she just felt so pulled to work with it and try the audition. She did acted her feelings out, but was that enough? Acting is a talent she never thought she had and so finding out that she had somehow passed the audition for the lead actress even, made her speechless that her brain had stopped to function for a moment.

"Can I give this a few days to think about?" AiLin asked and she could hear the writer taken aback gasp as if she didn’t expect that AiLin would need "a few days" to think about it. Partly because the fact that she had auditioned to the role and the fact that this movie was estimated to be in the blockbusters, expected to garner over millions of dollars.

But the write couldn’t do anything except meekly answering, "O- Of course, we will be anxiously waiting for you, Miss AiLin."

She ended the call and then looked forward at Li ZiChen who had began to eat while looking at her troubled expression. He took a moment before he asked, "Who called you?"

"The writers of a movie..." she saw him who seemed surprised and raised her eyebrows. She thought Li ZiChen’s hobby was spying on people but it seems she was wrong? She answered after a brief cough, "I visited your company last time didn’t I? JS Entertainment? I was sort of pulled into an audition for a novel that I particularly liked in the past. I only meant to give it a shot but I unexpectedly passed."

"What do you mean unexpectedly?" Li ZiChen laughed softly as he shook his head. His tender gaze was too much for her heart as he spoke with the most sincerity, "It’s only expected that you would pass, you’re talented AiLin. I don’t doubt that."

She felt her stomach that tied in a knot. While biting the lower of her lips she looked at him again, "I thought you would know."

"That you entered an audition?" He shook his head after seeing her nod to his question, "You have warned me how controlled you feel if I keep an eye to all your actions, I don’t want to squeeze you under my palms for my own satisfaction."

He looked upward and saw her eyes that glimmered and seeing that made his smile smaller. It hurts to think that the bare minimum actions he did always seemed to move AiLin greatly. Though he was glad to see her delighted by his actions and words, those were something anyone could have and should have done for her. The fact that she felt moved her would listen to her complains and fix his behavior to appease her, or to shift his thoughts so he could adjust to her emotions, meant that no one had ever done so for her. For the last twenty four years of her life.

Twenty four years.

Sighing Li ZiChen placed a piece of spam on her rice bowl, "So do you think you would take the role? You mention how you want to work."

"But I can’t act." Just because she managed to pour her heart on one scene doesn’t mean she can really act. She had acted throughout her life but that wasn’t a lesson to act as an actress.

"What movie are you acting in?" He asked before he hummed thoughtfully, working the gears in his mind. "There was only three expected movies with an open audition that JS Entertainment was working on. Two of it is an action movie with male lead actor needed. So that leaves one more movie, ’Death By Your Hands?’"

She was impressed how it took him no less than five seconds to fit all the puzzles together. "I have read the novel so often back in prison so I was really intrigued by the audition. Then again, I don’t think I am meant for this kind of work."

"Why?" He asked her genuinely curious as if he couldn’t see the faults in her, "You’re pretty, you have a great figure, don’t you ever notice how people always turn their heads toward you when you pass by them?"

She became shy by his straightforward response and coughed, "That isn’t enough for a movie."

"Trust me it is, and I know Director Chu. He’s famous in his works, he wouldn’t simply hire someone because they caught his eyes, but because he could feel in his guts that you would make the missing piece to his movie perfect," he assured her, "Since you like the book, I can tell you would be able to sympathize with the main character even more than anyone else. I remember her circumstances are quite sad."

"You also know the book?" It was a romance story that was filled with tragedy issued for women most of the time but Li ZiChen seemed aware of it.

"It’s my line of work," he answered and then he went quiet, "I know the story extremely well to its details as it’s also my favorite. JingYi should know that too."

"Oh..." she wondered how that book could be his favorite as she heard more male readers complaint how boring and slow the story structure was. "Do you think I can do it?" She then questioned after a while. There was an urge to go for it but another urge to not do it. She was torn between the two choices and for some reason she thought to have Li ZiChen to decide for it.

"You should," he said, with his eyes full of glimmer, "I can’t wait to see your acting in a movie. I can tell already how good it is. Oh, if you’re thinking I’m saying this because I am biased toward you, though that is true, you have to know that I own JS Entertainment, I have good eyes for these sorts of things."

Hearing him so convinced, even AiLin couldn’t help but feel swayed. She couldn’t help herself when she said, "You’re going to do good if you scam someone one day."

He laughed at her joke, not knowing she was sincere, "Well I hope I haven’t scammed someone yet."

"Mhm you shouldn’t."

"So will you go for it?"

She looked at her phone in a quiet silence before finally making her choice...
