Chapter 130: Playing Ploy
Chapter 130: Playing Ploy
AiLin watched carefully as the two men stalk in front of her, gawking at her as if trying to think with a way to hurt her and to make her feel fear. She could tell almost immediately that these men weren’t professionals and that they were simply picked from the street because they needed money. They glanced at the leader who was the bald man a few times, as if checking whether they could really do what was ordered by him.
The bald man then opened the door and walked outside, "I’ll leave you with her. Call me when everything’s done."
"Y- Yes sir," answered the nervous two men in return.
When the door clicked close, AiLin stared at the two men and narrow her eyes, "You don’t have to do this."
"B- Be quiet!" Yelled one of the men who was more nervous than the other, "You don’t get t- to order us around."
"If you fear for your life, it’s better to do what Boss Yang has ordered you to do!"
She closed her eyes and sighed, "It won’t work," she answered and the two men stared at her as if she had grown another head.
Confused they asked, "What do you mean won’t work?"
"Whatever you’re doing," she pointed, "I don’t get scared of anything anymore even death. So whatever you’re trying to do to scare me won’t work."
"W- we will hit you!"
"Please, didn’t he hit me earlier?" AiLin scoffed, "You both are still young. Do you guys have debts, is that why you’re doing this?"
"Be quiet!" Yelled one of the men who began to shed tears. This one was far more fearful than the other as he kept on stuttering on each of his words and flinched whenever AiLin moved. It was as if he was the one who had gotten kidnapped not her. "You don’t understand it. We don’t have a choice other than to do this. B- Brother..."
The latter man beside him turns out to be his older brother who had squeezed to the gun that was given to him. But he eventually dropped the gun to the table as the weigh of the item only caused him more anxiety.
"W- We need to scare her no matter what," whispered the older brother. "If we can— WAH!"
Three loud knock rang from the door of the hotel again. Scared, the two men screamed instead of her. AiLin only sighed and sat on the floor with her back pressed on the wall as. She could feel it continue bleeding. Thankfully it wasn’t too deep. She wasn’t too scared either of the situation ad watched as the two men who were more scared than her pushed their face to the door, staring at the peephole to say after a few seconds, "It’s just the bellboy again."
"We can ignore him. He will leave soon," answered the older brother. He then stood over AiLin and held his knife, threatening, "Why do you have to go against someone like Boss Yang?"
"I didn’t go against him," she sighed, "I don’t even know him. You guys seem to know him even more. You are also scared of him, aren’t you?"
The two brothers looked at each other then they spoke sincerely while looking at her, "It’s dangerous to be involved with Boss Yang. He works under the son of a senator."
"Senator," a senator... senator. Ah!
One of the four men who assaulted her, OuYang’s best friend or perhaps "boss" at many situations, the young man who was born from a family with powerful background in military and politics, HangZhou.
So the baldie was HangZhou’s men.
She questioned if they knew her as Jiang AiLin but doubted that they actually knew. She even questioned if HangZhou even knew that she has came out as Hua Ailin, the daughter of the powerful family Hua. Even though his family is powerful with the backings of people in the military, he wouldn’t be so reckless as to attack someone from a wealthy family even if they did hurt his business or pride.
That only means that HangZhou only knew her as "the woman who Li ZiChen had taken a liking to" without knowing she came from Hua Family.
It sounds like HangZhou. The boy in her high school who had bullied her with various ways while chuckling happily. She remembered how he particularly dislike women who became the lover of wealthy men because he was reminded of his own mother.
But something was still off. Something about this reckless kidnapping was really odd. Hangzhou should have known not to make an enemy of Li ZiChen even if they do have a beef against each other.
"S- So tell Boss Yang that you will drop the charges!" The younger brother said.
"Fine fine," she sang and then the door knocked again.
The older brother who was annoyed finally walked to the door and answered, "We don’t need any room service!"
The door was quiet after that and they concluded that the bellboy had left and disappeared as was ordered but after a few seconds they froze from the voice that had came chillingly from the other side of the door.
"AiLin you’re there aren’t you?"
Even though AiLin knew the voice belong to Li ZiChen she couldn’t resist the cold chill that ran up her back. She straightened her posture and look at the door, "Zi Chen..."
The two men were at once scared as they could see that AiLin seemed tor recognize the person on the other side of the door. She quickly felt the older brother pulling her face and covered her mouth with his hand while the younger made sure the door was locked. They then remained quiet while they could feel the stressful pressure coming from the other side of the door, watching as if he was stalking his prey.
"You’re not beside the door are you?" Li ZiChen asked then, "I’m sorry I was late. I thought you needed more time but I cannot wait any longer."
AiLin stared at the door that felt more like a monster now that even the two brothers could only stare at it with a shrill expression of fear.
"Get behind the door, okay?" Li ZiChen’s words were tender but his cold tone was too menacing for those words to sound anything close to gentle.
They didn’t hear any other voices anymore and waited at the door like a foolish deer. When they waited for a few seconds, the older brother who saw the door didn’t budge breathed out in relief, thinking that they were saved.
But even that breath wasn’t for long as the door suddenly burst open with the lock already broken in. Li ZiChen’s tall stature shadowed over AiLin on the floor whose mouth was covered by the older of the two kidnappers. She was still trying to discern his face when she felt the quick movement right beside her neck. When she looked forward, she saw that the person who had covered her mouth was slammed to the nearby wall. The slam was so hard on the back of the man’s head that his body shook before it suddenly turned motionless like a rag doll.
The younger brother shrieked, calling to his brother’s name but even his voice fell into a deaf ear as AiLin watched Li ZiChen who had expressionlessly kicked forward to the younger brother’s stomach. The leg stopped for a second after kicking the man straight to the floor until his body hit the table and caused for the vase to fall to the man’s head. Li ZiChen didn’t stop even after the man cried for help, he raised his leg again, kicking mercilessly over and over again, whether it was the head, the stomach, or the chest.
AiLin watched everything and flinched in fear. She could only stare at the cold anger coming from Li ZiChen. His handsome face was clean from blood but his shoes were already soiled with splatters of blood. His expressionless face looked even more frightening than ever, looking like someone who had planned to kill. Even after the two men had fainted, Li ZiChen didn’t stop. He raised his hand, grabbing the man by his collar, he then clenched his fist, ready to move it and smash the face of this person who had taken AiLin away when he stopped as a strong tug were wrapped around his elbow.
Turning behind him, Li ZiChen saw AiLin who had frantically wrapped her hands around his elbow, her face frozen in fear that almost turn pale even though earlier she wasn’t scared at all.
"You’re done! You’re done! He’s unconscious. Don’t over do it, Li ZiChen!"
Li ZiChen was calm while looking at her but she knew his sanity wasn’t near him any longer.
"But I’m not done," Li ZiChen answered as his face moved closer toward her.
"Stop it! You’re going crazy!"
Li ZiChen’s eyes flickered, he snapped, "I’m crazy? But what about you, AiLin? Why would you do that?"
Ailin stared at him in confusion, "Stopping you?"
"No," he answered, his eyes then appeared darker than ever as he slowly interrogate her, "You knew well that it was a ploy for you to be separated from me. But you willingly left my side so you can see for yourself who is trying to kidnap you."
She gulped.
He knew? That she could have ran away earlier and protect herself but continued to play along the ploy and get hurt so she could make sure who was going after her?
"Then why are you angry?" AiLin frowned, "I have to know who I am up against with, don’t I?"
"That’s why I’m angry," Li ZiChen answered before he tossed the man to the ground. He stood up, his hands around his waist easily wrap it with one single hand, "You never seem to care about your safety AiLin and that is driving me insane. What should I do to make you understand how important your own safety is to yourself? Back in OuYang now here in this hotel!" He snapped as he squeezed his hand around her waist, it wasn’t painful but a strong grip as if to make her stay in position so she wouldn’t flee again into danger. "You’re... hurting me with your recklessness."
