For a moment the two simply stared at each other’s eyes with passion. One with fear of losing her and the other was with stubbornness as she couldn’t see eye to eye with him. They were so close to each other but for some reason AiLin felt the distance between them that grew in a span of seconds. She bite her lips, "It’s necessary. You can’t always play safe if you are in my position! My goal requires me to play with their games so I can avenge what they have done to me."

Li ZiChen shook his head, "Is that how you convinced yourself into thinking that your action isn’t an act of recklessness but something necessary to do?"

"But it is the truth," she snapped and pointed to the two unconscious men, "Because I was here and got kidnapped, I could find out who their Boss is!"

"That is not important!" Li ZiChen finally raised his voice, the very first time he did to her. He quickly squeezed his eyebrows, regretting his own action but he was too close to snapping the last thread of his composure. He squeezed tight his eyes and then opened it again while looking at her eyes in a pleading gaze, "Please understand me AiLin that nothing is more important than your life."

"No. You don’t get it," she answered while clenching her hands, "I know you care about me Li ZiChen but I don’t need that care of yours if it’s simply going to get in the way of my plan."

"AiLin," Li ZiChen said while closing his eyes. He felt defeated as he could feel that AiLin wasn’t going to listen to him. He knew she had heard him well and he knew that she could also tell her own recklessness but she didn’t want to hear it because she couldn’t have the time to worry about herself as her priority is revenge.

He knew that her drive to live was her revenge but he couldn’t bear seeing her get hurt. His heart was torn apart as he couldn’t choose on what to do— he couldn’t tell her to give up on her revenge, not when it was her only reason to remain alive. But watching her get hurt over and over again? He couldn’t bear it. His heart was going to go insane.

He bite his lower lips and finally spoke up, "You do know with how reckless you are that this is not a plan anymore but rather your own way to torture yourself?"

AiLin’s eyes widened as she stared into his eyes. The truth is always painful. It stabbed so coldly to her heart and it made her heart squeeze. She felt a burn in her stomach as Li ZiChen had spoken out straightforwardly as to her reasons for getting hurt wasn’t only recklessness but a way for her to hurt herself as a lesson.

"You can’t even tell me otherwise because deep down you’re aware of your self hating behavior."

"It isn’t self hating.."

"Then why would you do that to yourself?" He asked her, his genuine concern in his voice, "AiLin, I know. I know well that you don’t have time to think about yourself and maybe you don’t see it as a need but you do need to take care of yourself, your health and safety, those two things are more important than anything."

AiLin knew it. She knew it. She didn’t have to be told to understand that was what she needed. But she couldn’t simply let herself be the priority now, if she became too careful about herself, then what would happen to her plans?

She couldn’t see herself prioritizing both her safety and her plan. In the first place, she didn’t think that her safety is important. But logically speaking anyone should prioritize their own safety.

She slowly placed her hand on his chest and pushed him away and the winced as the pain on her back resurface now that her head had gotten calmer. Li ZiChen noticed this and turned her body in a swift twirl. When his eyes caught the wound on her back, his veins popped on his forehead. He sighed and she felt the intense knot on her stomach hearing him sighing, it’s as if he was really annoyed by her and was going to finally give up on helping her at all.

Then before she could read his expression and check for herself whether Li ZiChen was really pulling his hands away from her for being stubborn and for snapping him when she knew well he worried about her, his swift hand had covered her waist again. Then she felt her body float on the air for a few seconds as the ground beneath her feet grew further from her eyes. Then her stomach plopped on his shoulders, and she realized that Li ZiChen had carried her like a bag of potatoes on his shoulders.

"I can walk! I didn’t hurt my feet," she struggled but these arms were pointlessly strong as it held her in place, refusing to let her move away or jump downward. Before she could say anything she felt a hit on the back of her thighs that made her cry out.

She glared at him from the side and he finally loosened his tensed expression and smiled, "You hurt your back so this is the best way to make sure that wound wouldn’t get in contact with anything sharp that will pierce you again."

"But wait, I haven’t gotten my informations yet—"

"—My men will look into it, now shush," he said as she saw herself being carried out off the hotel room. As they walked toward the hallway, she found two similar face of the two young men who she had seen back in OuYang nightclub. She recognized them to be Li ZiChen’s subordinate, the two lively young souls who seemed to be more proud than anyone else to work under Li ZiChen.

Seeing her being carried on his shoulders caused the two twins to stare at her with eyes so wide it was going to set apart, their lips were wide in awe as they gawk at how AiLin was easily carried away by Li ZiChen.

Not only the twins, but more men dressed similarly to the twins and other guests of the party hall had the first seat view of seeing their affectionate touch which made her to feel as if her skin had been burned by scorching sun and she could only push her face to his back, her only opportunity to hide her face from the embarrassment.

"Damn it... you’ll pay for this, Zi Chen," she meant to threat him only to hear him laughing as he walk and though she was annoyed that he was laughing, she found herself smiling in return.

Like this, they fight, they clash, and they would often sit in two different sides but why is it that Li ZiChen stay with her despite everything? An odd man Li ZiChen is, a one in a kind, a one in a million even.

Watching the scene from afar was none other than Jiang MengYao. The young handsome man was always known to be smart and charming. His face was as mild as a scholar but the glint in his eyes told otherwise as he watched the girl who had appeared so similar to his late younger sister, Jiang AiLin.

Six years have passed and most people had forgotten AiLin’s face. Even his family wasn’t really sure that AiLin was the same as the current Hua AiLin with the changes on her face after six years. But their similarities were uncanny and for someone like Jiang MengYao who had been watching AiLin for a long time, he was really certain that Jiang AiLin would have looked similar to Hua AiLin after six years have passed.

He could even tell it was the AiLin he knew when she had first entered the party hall and caught his eyes during Jiang NianNian’s birthday and was completely certain though even now AiLin was acting as someone else, this is the really Jiang Ailin who he was aware of.

Then a bald man walked beside him, he clicked his tongue, speaking in a hurry, "Young master Jiang, I thought you told me that it will be a while before Li ZiChen would find our location. But it took him no less than ten minutes to find her."

"I suppose Li ZiChen prioritize her more than I expected," said Jiang MengYao as he watched Ailin who was carried on Li ZiChen’s shoulders. His eyes narrowed and he clicked his tongue, "It seems Li ZiChen isn’t only helping her."
