Mrs Fox Heinous Revenge: Can You Love A Villainess like Me? -
Chapter 124: Console Me
Chapter 124: Console Me
He had spoken in a rush but his words enunciated the stresses on the words he wanted her to know and hear clearly. She understood that it seemed Mei Hua was the only one who had thought they were close while Li ZiChen never viewed her as anything more than his younger brother’s friend from childhood. Meanwhile to him, Mei Hua was less than a friend and only a passing acquaintance. She saw the cold gaze he had as he spoke about Mei Hua, stressing that she was the one who had came up on him and he had rejected her clearly.
"I see," she whispered. "She must have known about your condition too.."
"She does," he confirmed.
"Yet she wasn’t worried about getting too close to you and trigger your bad memories," she hummed as it seemed Mei Hua wasn’t a good person. She’s desperate but it also didn’t seem like she actually did care for Li ZiChen’s health or his condition.
Loving someone, doesn’t mean controlling them...
"Mei Hua," continued Li ZiChen, "She has always been infatuated with the idea of being similar to my mother. She was a big fan of my mother and loved the way my mother lived, she also think that if she could marry to the family, she would have the life my mother has."
"Such a weird reasoning," muttered AiLin to herself and then she looked at his hands, "Is that your habit? Washing your hands when you’re touched.."
"By someone I don’t consent with, yes."
Li ZiChen rubbed his hands and at moments like these, Ailin couldn’t help but feel the urge to question him more. Thus she went on and asked her question carefully, measuring their distance by the questions he would answer willingly and promising to stop when he shows his dislike on the probing questions.
"But I can touch you," she whispered even though the place was private enough for them to speak aloud without having to care about eavesdropping rats.
"Yes," he said and then he turned to her with a smile. "Why do you think I can touch you willingly?"
Why do you think...
AiLin found her own heart thumping louder across her chest when she heard his questions. Fiddling with her hand, she carefully stared at him, thinking about it for a longer couple of seconds until she said, "Because you trust me?"
He chucked, "More than trust," and his words caught her heartstrings. He then tugged her hands, "You’re different that’s for certain. I don’t usually touch people because I don’t know how badly it will affect me. Nowadays, I manage to return handshakes without suffering from any backlashes but at times there would be those people who would jump on me and trigger that nauseating sensation that cause me to, well, wash my hands for longer than necessary. But I think of it as an improvement."
She felt her heart turning concerned. Holding to his hand, she rubbed them gently as if giving it a pat of comfort. Then she muttered, "It must have been painful.."
Li ZiChen knew that AiLin always had a weakness in her heart whenever he looks hurt. He saddled his head to her shoulders, bending his back as he muttered, "It does." And he could feel her fingers scrambling to give him a gentler pat which made him had to stifle his chuckles of giddiness.
"I heard that you have thrown a secretary who had tried to spike your drink in the past," she continued her conversations but find herself frowning slightly when she felt him nodding on her shoulders, "You... should have brought her to the police! She needs to be behind the bars for her actions. It must have been really dangerous for her to force you into sleeping with her. Spiking drinks and then having intercourse one sidedly such as that is no different than rape. Do you have her name?"
He looked up at her, still leaning his head on her shoulders while he found himself smiling at her angered face. AiLin never concerned herself so much to others but seeing that she cares so much to him meant that now he had became an existence so big in her heart that it was the second next important thing to her, after herself.
He was happy to be in the second rank, he didn’t need to be the first as long as there’s no one above him.
"I do but she’s gone now," he muttered while she turned to him with a deeper and knitted brows.
"So she ran away?"
He shook his head, "I heard she took her life before I could bring her to prison."
"Oh" well she didn’t expected that. AiLin hummed, "For someone so desperate, she ran away from the responsibility so quickly."
He smiled. She didn’t even doubt for a moment the said "suicide" could have been done by him. He wondered how clean his image was inside of her head, questioning what she would do if she ever find him holding a gun after killing someone. Would she report him? Would her view on him as a good person change into one that was dangerous and she shouldn’t come close with?
Li ZiChen was curious. So much so that he planned to do it to see her reaction.
"That’s not too new," he whispered. "It wasn’t the first time and after so many incidents, even the police began to suspect that I’m the one who had forced myself on them and then turn the narratives around."
"How could they suspect that?" she frowned, "It’s a legitimate crime and the evidence should prove your innocence."
"I know, right?" He smiled when suddenly he felt her hand on top of his head, rubbing it gently. That gesture of comfort only made him feel more elated. Like a hungry cat given a can of tuna, he was only hungrier for more love that she would slip out for him.
"Next time it happened again, call me," AiLin answered with a gentle pat. She felt like hugging a big dog who was resting its shoulders on her. An adorable retriever perhaps. "I have been in similar position such as you, so you can be at ease and call me for it."
Li ZiChen couldn’t help his blossoming smile. Not wanting to look creepy, he dove his nose to the crook of her neck, hoping to hide his smiley face.
He saw this as a perfect chance to slip into the small crack of the high walls she has been building around her own heart and asked, "Does it has anything to do with the video we destroyed with OuYang?"
AiLin’s fingers on top of his head flinched. She breathed out for a brief moment as if threading whether to answer or ignore the asked question. But she decided as Li ZiChen had opened to his own situation, it wasn’t fair for her to keep it quiet, not when he had asked her with such gentleness in his tone, concern and a tinge of deep and heartfelt honesty.
"A little," she answered. Her heart was loud across her chest. She closed her eyes that only lingered bad memories, so much so that even as she looked back into the past, she could only recall the blurry faces of the people that had hurt her, as if remembering it was too much for her own mental health. She pursed her lips and spoke after a brief moment of pause, "OuYang was paid by Lu Ping to assault me. It wasn’t a sexual assault at first. She only paid so he would lock me in the gymnasium but Jiang NianNian had other plan. She was in love with someone and she wanted to ruin my image, so she had OuYang paid a bit more so he would take pictures of me without a clothing."
Li ZiChen on her shoulders shifted a bit. He seemed to be gritting his jaw but she wasn’t sure as she couldn’t see his face from where he was bending his neck to her shoulders.
She added, "Well, I fought them off, I bite and hit, I didn’t remember what happened well but I do remember being pinned by four larger young boys who were mounting on me, ripping apart my shirt. I remember them pulling my skirt and I— all I thought about was how badly I wanted to run home. But at home, no one would even care what had happened to me and so at that brief moment I felt the lowest I have ever been. I felt like I want to really d—" she felt a strong hand that was covering her mouth. Looking downward, she saw Li ZiChen who stared at her with a broken face.
"You don’t have to continue the story."
She shook her head and smiled, "I did tell you that I will tell the story. No worries, I won’t say it if I couldn’t handle it." She then saw him who was unwilling to move his hands from her mouth but she held his hand and gently settled it down on her laps. "OuYang had took a video out of it, he also took a picture of me. One of the boy had began to feel desire and wanted to do more than only ripping my clothes. When that happened I— well I destroyed his family jewels," she grinned. "I guess he bleed out or he fainted. I used that chance to ran away but I didn’t mange to destroy the video, that’s why OuYang still had the video on him. I wanted to say that’s the end but unfortunately it wasn’t. That was only their first time in assaulting me."
