Chapter 125: Reaching The Sun

Li ZiChen’s almond eyes were darkened by the thoughts that entertained him, most of those thoughts were violent as he knew he should have done more than only cutting OuYang’s tongue. He should have severed his whole hand from his wrist upward or slash the back of his ankle. Though causing a spinal injury would be better, so OuYang would still be alive but paralyzed throughout his entire life.

But they couldn’t easily let him off now. He would do it after the rest of OuYang’s so called "friends" are also caught and pushed back into prison.

Pulling up his face, Li ZiChen smiled. He then reached out his hand and settled it on the back of her head. AiLin was surprised when he pulled her closer, feeling his hands that were bringing her face to his embrace, comforting her with a gentle pat that paced slowly on her back.

"You’re doing great," he whispered to her ears, "You did great. I’m proud of you for being so brave and courageous even though you must have felt alone back then."

AiLin blinked as those words weren’t something she had expected to hear from anyone.

How could Li ZiChen always speak the words she wanted to hear? Back then, she had hoped someone would comfort her and though she thought all of that has passed and she doesn’t need anymore comfort from anyone, she was startled to find out that deep down, somewhere inside her was glad to be comforted, that deep down she does want to hear the comfort given by someone else, someone like... him.

AiLin stared into his face from his chest, she then fell into a deep ponder as now it seemed Li ZiChen’s existence inside her heart had grown so much to the point that she was a bit frightened by it.

If someone’s existence became a big part of yourself, it would become even more difficult to leave them without a trace.

She didn’t want to stay... beside him. She shouldn’t.

But she couldn’t help her own heart that melt from the kindness and love that Li ZiChen poured on to her.

She couldn’t deny it any longer. Li ZiChen’s care for her was deeper than a friend’s, more affectionate and passionate than a family, and more articulate than a simple admiration.

He loves her.

AiLin suddenly felt a nauseating urge bubbling on her throat. She pushed him gently, pushing her back to the couch and feeling as her skin and eyes burn. It was as if she had gotten too close to the sun, flying too near like Icarus and was paying the price.

"You’re a good man, ZiChen," she said while staring to his eyes. The edges of her lips curved upward, her cheeks brightened and a look of peace settled on her face.

Li ZiChen didn’t know the thoughts that were filled with anxiousness biting the back of her head, so he found that smile of her a straight arrow to his heart. He felt the ache of love and passion, the need to touch her skin and those plump sweet lips that he had tasted back in the nightclub. The only person who could ever make him a lover man was her, and he couldn’t help how his entire body and soul was desperately crying for her.

He gulped, "As long as I can be a good man for you, that’s enough for me."

AiLin smiled wordlessly and then turned at the stage that had lit up as the people of her past had gathered in one place. Staring at it, a sudden thought became firm in her head.

The host of the party greatly introduced the start of the party, congratulating every guests for being the witness to such a big project that would garner million of dollars. Everyone on the other side of the stage was as excited as a lamb on a field of green grass, letting out a loud cheer that filled the room with everyone’s applause and a shriek of congratulations.

Jiang NianNian’s shoulders were raised. She had been praised the whole day for her beauty and her family’s wealth that was about to grow even faster than any other family could dream of, beside her was even the only son of Su Family, a royalty from a noble blood with wealth. Though she was still upset to think that her birthday party had ended with her embarrassing herself in front of someone whose face was so similar to "Jiang AiLin" she was glad to have found Su HaiTan whose family was close to the Elder of Hua Family. Even those people who were laughing at her embarrassing birthday had shut their mouth unwillingly upon seeing her hands wrapped tightly around Su HaiTan and how close they were together.

She giggled as her plan to bring back her image success.

Su HaiTan’s family was particularly close to AiLin’s maternal grandmother, Elder Hua. Elder Hua’s liking to only her sons and grandsons were well known throughout Beijing and as she had known Su HaiTan since his birth, the older woman had always doted on the young man. Rumors even said that even though they weren’t related by blood, Elder Hua was particularly more lenient to Su HaiTan, granting whatever he wishes, when she wouldn’t even do the same for her eldest daughter, Hua Valentine.

On the other hand was Hua AiLin. Though Hua AiLin who had embarrassed her came from Hua Family directly, she had heard how AiLin’s mother, Hua Valentine, was particularly disliked by Elder Hua.

To compare the power between Hua AiLin and Su HaiTan was easy, as one would immediately guess whose side Elder Hua would be on if there would ever be a problem occur between them again.

Jiang NianNian was all grins and delight. Tonight, her family would make a name for themselves. Not even that Hua AiLin, thought Jiang NianNian who had grinned while turning her face to see AiLin whose hands were being held by Li ZiChen. Upon seeing that, Jiang NianNian flexed her jaw, clenching it tightly.
