Chapter 102: Familiar Flame

By the time AiLin arrived at JS Entertainment building, she was alone. A few people kept stealing glances to look at her and although she did dress up, she wasn’t in a dress but a leather jacket and a pair of trouser with black leather. She had also worn a boot as she walked out of the car after realizing that she couldn’t ride bikes since she hadn’t properly done her license. Looking at herself on the mirror, she wondered if she looked like a paparazzi and maybe that’s the reason why it had gathered so many looks.

JS Entertainment.

The building of JS Entertainment was around sixty four high. The only news she heard about it was how Li ZiChen’s mother was the one who founded the company ever since she took off as the number one singer of Beijing over two decades ago. She’s also known for being ahead of time which made AiLin to question if all those brain and looks that Li ZiChen possess came from his mother.

Just then she felt someone tapping her shoulders and when she turned around, she found a worker of JS entertainment with the card of their identity hung over their neck down to their chest.

"Miss! Are you here for the interview?"

"Yes?" AiLin tilted her head, "I don’t—"

"—You are late! Everyone has been greatly waiting for you. Just like the rumors, you are insanely gorgeous! Of course I’m not saying this to merely praise you," said the female employee as she dragged AiLin inside the building. "You see ever since that faceless video of yours were being used online, everyone has been questioning your appearance. But you told us that you wouldn’t want to ever show your face, ever. I was so confused but I understand you now! If you had shown your face in the stream people would think immediately that you’re some kind of an actress. Truthfully, if I could, I would bring you at once to the audition of a new movie that was going to launch. You know from the novel Flower Bloom First? And the other movie called Death By Your Hands?"

"You got the wrong person!" AiLin raised her voice immediately to stop the mismatch understanding between them. When the female employee stopped, she looked at AiLin up and down and gasped.

"No way! But black jacket and pants," she said while opening her phone, "Well. I guess I did get the wrong message but! You are still free right? You came to JS Entertainment because you’re from another agency who wanted to do the audition for the movie? I’m sure I’m right now!"

AiLin couldn’t stop the female employee now the moment she called her other friend, shoved AiLin like a hot pancake to her friend and tell them to proceed and bring AiLin toward the audition room.

Everything happened in a blink.

By the time AiLin realized it she was already in line for a movie audition.

She stared at the banner of the novel from which the movie was adapted from.

"This novel," she whispered.

How can she not know?

Her life in prison was mundane and most of the time she spent it by reading books and essays. One of the book was called Death By Your Hands. A pitiful story of a woman who had been abused by her precious family. She eventually became ill and by the time she had broke free from her family, she had succumbed to her illness at the hands of the only man who has only ever loved her.

Then that male character died in the end.

It put a bitter taste to her mouth when she read it but she quite liked how realistic it was.

Not everyone could be free of their surroundings until their death.

"The director... he only love hiring new actresses," said someone on her left, "We might have the best chance today!"

"But did you see the first person who had came to the audition? She looks so gorgeous! Isn’t her name Mei Hua...? I have seen her in instaheart before! She’s so gorgeous, so pretty!"

AiLin turned her face just slightly toward them and chirped in, "You guys know the director of the movie?"

"Of course!" The girl happily replied, "He’s the director of other famous movie like last year’s Spring of You and this year’s Haunted plight. He’s known for action most of the time like Power Force. But he kicked off his career by making romance movie. This one has been the most awaited for as Death By Your Hands is an extremely famous novel."

So how can that famous novel land on her prison’s library exactly? All she knows was how the more famous a book is, the rarer it would appear in the library without being taken by someone else to read or ripped apart. She always gets the worst book since people find the most boring one unscathed from the horrible treatment. But the one she found was unscathed, brand new. So much so that she had kept it for herself in her room without giving it back to the library until she departed from prison.

"The novelist refused to let his name be known."

"It’s a male author?" AiLin asked again and the two girls nodded.

"Rumors said that it’s a man. Though the writing feels more flamboyant, one time the author mistakenly wrote that they never knew how to address specific topics about female so we all assume he must be a man."

"Oh," that’s odd she really thought it was a female by the author’s name and the picture of a hand on the back of the book that describe the author.

"Next!" The sudden announcement came from the staff.

AiLin fell into a ponder. She wasn’t exactly kept held here and could leave now if she wanted to but for some reason she didn’t. Even though she knows that this won’t go far considering her background of being an ex-convict, she couldn’t help but stay on her place, wait until her turn, doing everything in a blank state as if her heart that had wanted to do this first before her brain could process.

And she was someone who could never refuse what her heart begged her to do.
