Chapter 614 Sorry
Chapter 614: Chapter 614 Sorry
The doctor didn’t speak immediately. He looked at Ji Qingshan, then shifted his gaze to Wen Han, who was just as apprehensive:
"Are you the patient’s husband?"
"He’s not." Ji Qingshan cut in before Wen Han could respond. "You can just tell me. How is my sister?"
The doctor furrowed his brows slightly and said:
"The patient had been sexually assaulted before arriving here. There are multiple lacerations in her lower body, but those can be slowly treated and aren’t major issues. The real problem is the bullet—it pierced the patient’s uterus. Although the surgery was successful, it’s highly likely she won’t be able to conceive in the future."
Ji Qingshan was stunned for nearly a full minute before he snapped out of the grim reality. He looked at Ji Qingluan, lying on the hospital bed, pale and lifeless. His eyes instantly turned red as a surge of anger reached its peak. He turned to Wen Han, unable to swallow his resentment no matter what.
For so many years, Ji Qingluan’s sacrifices for Wen Han had not escaped his notice as her elder brother, but this cold-hearted man had never responded in kind. Matters of love weren’t something he could force; however, watching Ji Qingluan dedicate so much to Wen Han, only to end up violated and stripped of her right to be a mother, Ji Qingshan’s anger finally erupted.
He lunged at Wen Han, pinning him against the wall, his elbow pressed against Wen Han’s throat. Wen Han didn’t dodge, and Ji Qingshan used all his strength. Wen Han quickly began to struggle for breath. Jiang Bei, who had been sitting nearby, stood up and was about to intervene when Ji Nanfeng stepped forward first, grabbing her hand:
"You’re pregnant. He’s out of control right now—let me handle this."
Jiang Bei glanced at Ji Nanfeng without a word but relented. Ji Nanfeng went forward, pulling Ji Qingshan away. "Do you want to kill someone before Ji Qingluan wakes up and end up in jail yourself?"
Ji Qingshan was still rational enough not to redirect his fury toward Ji Nanfeng. After shooting Wen Han a glare full of hatred, he followed the doctor, assisting in transferring Ji Qingluan to her ward. Ji Nanfeng turned back to Wen Han, who was now hunched over, coughing violently. He gently patted Wen Han on the back:
"Are you okay?"
Wen Han waved him off. "I’m fine."
But his voice was already hoarse beyond recognition. Yet, in this situation, no one could even find words of comfort. Inside, everyone’s emotions were in disarray.
Violence may not solve problems, but it is indeed a stark and honest release of pent-up feelings.
Wen Han understood Ji Qingshan’s anger, so he didn’t fight back.
It was already 9 PM, four hours since Wen Shaoyuan had been wheeled out of the operating room, but he had yet to wake up. He remained in a deep sleep. Qiao Yu checked on him; his readings were stable. It might have been because children metabolize anesthesia differently than adults, but he was in no immediate danger. Still, this prolonged unconsciousness left Fu Shinian and Su Mu tortured by every passing second.
No one had anticipated that Ji Qingluan would exit the operating room later than Wen Shaoyuan, yet she had regained consciousness within an hour.
When Ji Qingluan woke up, all she saw was a void of whiteness, and she realized that she had been saved. She tried to speak. Before she could say much, Ji Qingshan’s anxious face came into view:
"Qingluan, you’ve woken up? How are you feeling?"
Ji Qingluan looked at Ji Qingshan, her voice dry and raspy:
"Where’s Wen Shaoyuan?"
"Look at the state you’re in, and you’re still worried about someone else?" Ji Qingshan’s face darkened. "From the time you were a child, I’ve let you do whatever you wanted, never restricted you, and gave you complete freedom. But look at yourself now. From this moment on, you’re not allowed to have any contact with the Wen Family. I won’t allow you to see Wen Han ever again. Let that thought go."
Ji Qingluan could feel Ji Qingshan’s anger, but at this moment, she didn’t have the energy to care. She used all her remaining strength to grab Ji Qingshan’s hand tightly:
"I want to see Fu Shinian."
"Qingluan!"
"Bring him here."
Seeing the resolute look on Ji Qingluan’s face, Ji Qingshan knew there was no way to persuade her right now. Any more resistance might agitate her and worsen her condition. He let out a long breath and called Fu Shinian.
While waiting outside the operating room for Ji Qingluan earlier, Ji Qingshan had learned bits and pieces of what had happened. It wasn’t that he didn’t care or wasn’t concerned; he simply chose—without hesitation—his sister over problems from another family.
Especially now that Ji Qingluan was seriously injured, both physically and mentally, and might not recover for a long time. He only wanted her to focus on healing. He didn’t want her touching any more distressing matters. But Ji Qingluan thought differently.
Fu Shinian and Su Mu rushed over, with several others trailing behind them. Despite their urgency, they waited for Qiao Yu to finish examining Ji Qingluan and confirm she was stable before speaking:
"Qingluan..."
Seeing Su Mu’s swollen, tear-rimmed eyes, Ji Qingluan recalled Qiqi’s final gaze toward her—silent, tearless, almost as if the child had already resigned to being abandoned. Her heart clenched with pain. "I’m sorry. I couldn’t bring Qiqi back."
Ji Qingluan bypassed recounting the details. She went straight to the location. Fu Shinian froze momentarily upon hearing it, then, without thinking twice, turned and bolted before anyone else could react. Rong Shen and Ji Nanfeng exchanged glances and immediately chased after him.
Given the severe injuries Ji Qingluan and Wen Shaoyuan had already suffered, there was no way Ji Nanfeng and Rong Shen would let Fu Shinian charge in alone. If anything else happened, this family might truly fall apart.
Su Mu stood frozen for a moment before springing into action and rushing toward the exit. Wei Shaoqin, noticing how weak and unsteady she seemed, tried to stop her:
"Don’t go. Fu Shinian will bring Qiqi back."
Su Mu ignored Wei Shaoqin’s attempts to dissuade her. Clinging tightly to his sleeve like it was her last lifeline, she pleaded:
"Take me. I have to go!"
Seeing Su Mu’s determination, Wei Shaoqin realized that if he refused, she would still find some other way to go. Even if no one helped her, she would go alone. Thus, Wei Shaoqin relented. Looking at her, he nodded:
"Alright, I’ll take you."
As Wei Shaoqin prepared to leave with Su Mu, Jiang Bei called out, worried: "Wei Shaoqin."
Wei Shaoqin understood her concern. He turned back and looked at her:
"Don’t worry. Even if I die, I won’t let anything happen to Su Mu."
