Chapter 590: Chapter 590: If You Break Up, I Will Leave

Although Su Mu said that, she still didn’t have the confidence in her heart, so she didn’t go upstairs to clarify things with Fu Shinian immediately. Instead, after a long chat with the elderly lady in the living room, she went to the kitchen to personally start making dinner. The great grandmother didn’t say anything about it, knowing that matters of the young people, particularly emotional ones, were not for her to interfere with too much.

After dinner was served, Su Mu glanced upstairs, but Fu Shinian still showed no intention of coming downstairs. Jiang Bei came down, and before he could speak upon seeing that Su Mu was clearly upset, the great grandmother had already walked over with the help of Aunt Tian. At this point, it was not appropriate for Su Mu to insist on staying put, so she smiled after removing her apron:

"Great Grandmother, you eat first. I’ll go upstairs to call Shinian and Qiqi."

"Okay, I’m not hungry. I’ll wait for you all to join."

Su Mu smiled and went straight upstairs. There were no signs of Fu Shinian and Qiqi in the master bedroom, so she went to the study, but still found no one. Eventually, Su Mu stood by Qiqi’s room and slightly relaxed when she heard the sounds of frolicking inside. What she did not expect was that upon opening the door, the smile on Fu Shinian’s face immediately turned cold.

After a brief glance at her, he gave her no more looks. Su Mu couldn’t articulate the feeling in her heart at that moment; it was as if her breath was stuffed with cotton, making it difficult to breathe, yet she did not show it, managing a slight smile as she looked at Qiqi:

"Qiqi, Great Grandmother is waiting for us downstairs to have dinner."

"Okay, Daddy and I will come down right away."

After Su Mu responded, she turned and left. Fu Shinian paused his building block construction, and Qiqi, seeing all his actions, set her gaze unwaveringly on his face and smiled slightly. Fu Shinian belatedly sensed Qiqi’s look and cracked a small smile:

"What are you looking at? Is there something on my face?"

"No." Qiqi moved closer to Fu Shinian, sat in his lap, and wrapped her arms around his neck, "Fu Shinian, did you have an argument with Su Mu?"

Hearing this address from Qiqi made Fu Shinian slightly furrow his brows. She hadn’t called him by name for a very long time, always calling him ’Daddy’ or ’Dad’ in a way that thrilled him to no end, and suddenly it had reverted to the familiarity of the past:

"Why are you calling me by name again?"

"Who let you argue with Su Mu?" Qiqi insisted righteously, "Don’t you know girls are to be cherished? Even if Su Mu really did something wrong, which she didn’t, you should still talk it through properly with her and forgive her. By not even looking at her, do you realize how sad Su Mu would be?"

Fu Shinian gazed at Qiqi, wanting to deny that things between him and Su Mu were as she suggested, but remembering how he had just treated Su Mu, he feared he couldn’t fool this clever child, and it was also difficult to tell Qiqi exactly what had happened. So he had no choice but to endure silently, and in the end, he could only offer a wry smile:

"Qiqi, you’re still young, there are some things you don’t yet understand."

"I may be young and not understand, but I do know how tough Su Mu has had it these past years. Recently, she’s been laughing more than I’ve ever seen. Fu Shinian, I know she likes you, and only you can make her laugh so happily, which is why I like you and want to live with you. But if one day Su Mu is unhappy by your side and wants to leave, I will leave with her, no matter whether I love you or not, whether you love me or not."

Fu Shinian frowned:

"Am I just an accessory to Su Mu in your eyes, without any feelings for me if she’s gone?"

"That’s not what I mean." Qiqi denied, "It’s because even without me, you would still have Auntie and Great Grandmother as family, but Su Mu only has me. How could I possibly leave her? If I really had to choose between you two, I would definitely choose Su Mu."

Although Fu Shinian understood this principle, he still couldn’t help feeling a bit jealous. Seeing this, Qiqi smiled, planting a kiss on Fu Shinian’s cheek:

"Daddy, go make up with Su Mu, she must be waiting for you to come to her. Her heart is very soft, just say a few nice words, and she’ll smile."

Displaying the unhappiness between adults in front of the child was the last thing Fu Shinian wanted to do. However, he couldn’t stop thinking about the events of the afternoon, and the possibility that Su Mu might agree to Zhou Yaxian’s terms made him want to burst into anger uncontrollably. Even though he knew that in such a situation, the only thing to do was to appease and save Zhou Yaxian, he still couldn’t help being angry and wanting to ignore her.

Although it was quite unreasonable.

But now that Qiqi has said so, Fu Shinian couldn’t refuse, and gave a slight nod:

"Alright, after dinner, I’ll have a proper talk with Su Mu. Don’t worry, okay?"

"I’m not worried, because I know Dad loves Mom very much."

Fu Shinian gave a faint smile:

"And what about Mom? Do you think Mom loves me?"

"Of course, if she didn’t love you, how could she be with you? That’s simply impossible."

Fu Shinian smiled bitterly and said nothing more, lifting Qiqi and leaving the room to go downstairs for dinner.

Although he promised Qiqi to reconcile with Su Mu, when sitting together and looking at Su Mu, Fu Shinian couldn’t help but recall the recent events on the hospital rooftop, causing his mood to once again become uncontrollable. Fortunately, he managed not to explode but remained silent.

Jiang Bei almost instantly saw through the issue between them, but out of consideration for Great Grandmother and Qiqi, he didn’t say anything.

The atmosphere throughout the meal was very silent; even with Qiqi’s mischievous spirit, it was hard to lift everyone’s mood in such an environment, causing the little princess to become somewhat unhappy too. Having eaten only a few bites, she lost her appetite. The Great Grandmother, seeing Qiqi’s unhappiness, also lost her own appetite and glared at Fu Shinian before taking Qiqi back to her room.

Perhaps aware of the awkward atmosphere, the housekeeper didn’t stand by to serve, leaving only Su Mu and Fu Shinian in the dining room, along with Jiang Bei, who hadn’t spoken from the beginning. Neither Su Mu nor Fu Shinian spoke, but they still had an understanding of sorts, such as losing their appetite for the array of dishes on the table.

Fu Shinian was the first to move, getting up from the chair. Su Mu thought he would come over to her or say something, but he didn’t; he simply walked past her and upstairs. Su Mu felt a huge hole smashed open in her heart, blowing cold wind that made her want to cry uncontrollably.

She hadn’t felt this emotional for a long time. Even when she was wronged before, she never felt the urge to cry. Perhaps she had been truly spoiled by Fu Shinian in recent times.
