Chapter 589: Chapter 589: Angry Because I Care

Wen Shaoyuan looked at Zhou Yaxian:

"If Aunt Su and dad get married, then for the next ten or twenty years Qiqi and I will be seen as siblings by everyone around us. If one day I want to marry Qiqi, you might understand, but what about the others? I don’t care how they look at me, but I don’t want Qiqi to suffer any grievances. I don’t want her to be pointed at by others. I want her to marry me happily."

Zhou Yaxian looked at Wen Shaoyuan with a moment of confusion and did not speak, seizing the opportunity, Wen Shaoyuan pressed on:

"Grandma, would you please reconsider? I don’t want Aunt Su to be my mother. Dad doesn’t like Aunt Su anymore, and the relationship between Aunt Su and Uncle Fu is strong. Please, stop doing this. I don’t want to see Dad and Aunt Su forced together, I don’t want to see Uncle Fu finally getting back with Aunt Su only to face losing her again, and I don’t want to see Qiqi finally getting the family she dreamed of only to have it break apart. Grandma, this will only make you happy, but it will bring pain to everyone else. If Grandpa were still here, he definitely wouldn’t want you to do this."

Perhaps the last statement woke Zhou Yaxian up from a dream, her expression going from confusion to clarity, but just as she realized where she was standing, it turned to confusion again. She looked back, legs going weak, startled, her body nearly fell, Wen Shaoyuan shouted:

"Grandma—"

Wen Han and Fu Shinian almost simultaneously rushed over, catching Zhou Yaxian’s hand just in the nick of time before she fell. Looking at each other, they pulled her up together. Thus, this drama truly came to an end.

Wen Shaoyuan hid in Su Mu’s embrace, daring not watch, until Wen Han came over and gently patted his shoulder:

"It’s over now."

Medical staff had been on standby at the rooftop entrance; hearing that she had been safely rescued, they hurried over. Zhou Yaxian had fainted from fright, and the medical staff carried her on a stretcher back to the emergency room. Wen Han watched the bustling figures of the medical team and gave Su Mu a wry smile:

"Thank you for today, it caused you so much trouble."

"It’s nothing."

"I didn’t want Shaoyuan to witness this scene, yet in the end, I still couldn’t prevent him from coming. If only I had known earlier that Shaoyuan had more influence over my mother, all of this could have been avoided."

Su Mu gently smiled, her heart still racing, she gently stroked Wen Shaoyuan’s hair:

"Are you going back with me, or staying here with your father?"

Wen Shaoyuan looked up from Su Mu’s embrace and then turned to look at Wen Han:

"Aunt Su, I will go back to Gui Ning Residence tomorrow. I want to stay here today to be with Grandma, she probably wants to see me when she wakes up."

Su Mu nodded:

"Okay, then I’ll pick you up from school tomorrow."

"We agreed to go to the resort together, but it seems we can’t make it now. Qiqi will probably be disappointed."

After all these events, Su Mu suddenly remembered that they had planned to take both children to the resort in Lin City tomorrow, and because it was quite far, they had even spoken to the teachers to take time off in advance, but it looked like they wouldn’t be able to make it now.

Su Mu gave a slight smile and rubbed Wen Shaoyuan’s hair:

"It’s okay, I’ll explain it to Qiqi, and she will surely understand."

"If she feels unhappy, make sure she calls me. I don’t want her to bottle up bad feelings inside. I don’t want to see Qiqi sad."

"Okay." Su Mu nodded: "I will definitely let her know."

When preparing to leave, Su Mu looked for Fu Shinian but found out he had already left the rooftop without saying goodbye; he had gone without a trace. Su Mu knew he must be angry, or even furious, and he couldn’t suppress it.

Wen Han noticed this too and looked apologetically at Su Mu:

"If needed, I can go back with you and explain to him, perhaps he..."

Su Mu shook her head:

"No need, he won’t stay mad at me for too long, a good talk with him and things will be alright."

"Really?"

Su Mu smiled: "It’s getting late, I should head home now. You should hurry back as well and keep your mother company. Whatever it is, let’s try not to let such things happen again."

"I will."

After watching Su Mu leave, Wen Han went back to the hospital room with Wen Shaoyuan. Wen Shaoyuan was somewhat worried, so he stopped and asked Wen Han, "Dad, will Aunt Su really be alright? Why did Uncle Fu get angry?"

Wen Han smiled faintly:

"If she says nothing is wrong, then nothing is wrong. Uncle Fu is just angry because he cares about her too much."

"Like how I care about Qiqi?"

"Yes, just like how you care about Qiqi."

Similar, yet not the same. The emotions between young children are ultimately pure, devoid of any impurities. But adult relationships are mixed with much helplessness and insincerity. Wen Han wasn’t certain that nothing would happen between Su Mu and Fu Shinian, but he was sure that no matter what happened, they would not part ways.

After all, after so much they’ve been through, it was impossible for them to separate now.

Nearing the end of school hours, on her way home, Su Mu stopped by the kindergarten, only to find out Qiqi had already been picked up by Fu Shinian. She had concerns in her mind and overlooked informing the teacher that Qiqi might still come to school the next day because their travel plans were cancelled—a seemingly trivial matter that later became Su Mu’s greatest regret.

When she arrived home, the atmosphere was unusually somber. The old lady was sitting in the living room and stood up from the sofa upon seeing Su Mu come in. She walked over and took Su Mu’s hand: "What happened? Did Shinian upset you? Why were both he and Qiqi acting so odd when they came back, going upstairs without saying a word?"

Su Mu didn’t know how to explain, only saying there wasn’t a serious problem and it would soon pass, but the old lady had never seen Fu Shinian like this. Even with Su Mu’s reassurance, it made no difference. She sighed slightly:

"No matter what happens, the two of you should talk it over. I believe neither of you would do anything to hurt each other. Sometimes getting angry is also because of caring. Just calm down and clear things up. However, don’t worry—if he’s being unreasonable, just come to me and I’ll handle him for you."

Su Mu smiled faintly:

"I understand, Grandma, but it won’t be necessary. Shinian couldn’t bear to stay mad at me."

"That’s also true, he treats you like his own child."
