Chapter 516: Chapter 516: Times Change, Harmony Between Sisters-in-Law
Jiang Bei didn’t refuse, but she didn’t agree either. It was as if she had blocked all signals from the outside world, staying in her own world. Eventually, she just smiled and said, "Don’t worry."
Su Mu was worried, how could she not be worried? However, Jiang Bei’s impassive state at the moment left Su Mu feeling completely helpless.
Ji Nanfeng returned half an hour later with a troubled expression. Su Mu didn’t ask where he had been, but presumed he’d likely gone to ask Qiao Yu for details. Now, standing a few meters away, he watched Jiang Bei, who was quietly sitting there, with a slight frown, no one knowing what he was thinking.
Su Mu wanted to talk to him, but before she got up, Ji Nanfeng had already walked over and squatted down in front of Jiang Bei, gently holding her hand, saying:
"Let’s go home."
Jiang Bei came back to her senses, looked at him, withdrew her hand from his, stood up, and walked towards the elevator. Ji Nanfeng watched Jiang Bei’s retreating figure, silently rising to follow. Just as he stepped forward, Su Mu stopped him, not uttering much, just a simple sentence:
"If you still want this child, treat her well."
Ji Nanfeng looked deeply into Su Mu’s eyes:
"I know."
Su Mu wanted to accompany Jiang Bei, but Jiang Bei refused and didn’t let her join. Su Mu roughly understood her thoughts, but at this time she still prioritized Jiang Bei’s feelings and found it hard to insist, so she just nodded slightly:
"Then call me if you need anything, I can come over anytime."
Jiang Bei smiled, turned around, and got into the car.
Su Mu quietly watched Ji Nanfeng’s car disappear into the distance before letting out a sigh and was about to leave when she noticed Qiao Yu, who she didn’t know how long had been standing behind her, looking in the same direction as her. After a few seconds of silence, Su Mu said:
"You must have seen the test results, I don’t need to tell you again, right?"
Qiao Yu withdrew his gaze and smiled lightly at Su Mu:
"Yes, no need."
Su Mu nodded, didn’t say anything, and just left. Qiao Yu had a momentary impulse to hold Su Mu back, but ultimately did not act, considering it inappropriate.
It was still early; Qiqi had gone to kindergarten, and she didn’t want to continue staying at home, so she went directly to the studio. Everyone was busy, but Su Mu’s arrival still caused a stir. Everyone already knew about her recent injury, but because Su Mu had not allowed it, they hadn’t visited her; now seeing Su Mu return, they surrounded her in no time, concerned about her injuries.
After speaking a few words with them, Su Mu went straight to the office, and Lin Ning followed closely, cautiously checking her arm:
"Are you really okay? It looks quite serious, why not rest a bit longer?"
Su Mu chuckled:
"There’s nothing to do at home; Qiqi is at kindergarten."
Lin Ning glanced at the date, only then realizing it was the opening day, and teased Su Mu, "Can you bear it?"
"I can’t bear it, but Qiqi certainly can. To ease my sadness, I had to come to work at the studio."
Lin Ning laughed:
"There’s not much to be busy with now. Knowing you were injured, even though you said it was fine, I’ve still postponed all the work for a couple of weeks. There’s really not much to hurry on."
"Mm," Su Mu responded, "These days have been hard on you, how’s the recruitment going?"
"I’ve arranged a few site workers, they seem fine. Regarding the post-production and photographers, you’ll need to finalize them, but I’ve sent their details to your email, I can notify them to come for an interview at any time."
Su Mu glanced at the time:
"I’m free today; have them come over."
"Alright."
After Lin Ning left, Su Mu checked the wedding photos shot in the Maldives recently, which had already been post-processed. She was just double-checking and making slight adjustments to parts she wasn’t satisfied with. After she finished, an hour had passed, and her phone rang—it was Su Shiyue.
"Sister-in-law, after you and my brother dropped off Qiqi, you haven’t returned. Auntie Lin asked me to see if you’ll come back for lunch."
"No, your brother went to the office, and I’m at the studio, I’ll go back after picking up Qiqi in the afternoon."
Not long after hanging up, Lin Ning knocked on Su Mu’s office door, saying an interviewee had arrived, Su Mu responded and went to the interview.
Because she was quite satisfied, Su Mu talked a bit more with the interviewee. When she came out of the conference room, it was already past closing time, and there weren’t many people left in the office. As she escorted the person to the door and was heading back to the studio, she heard someone call her name.
Su Mu turned around and saw Su Shiyue just _getting off a car:
"Shiyue, what brings you here?"
"Grandma is worried that you won’t eat properly because you’re working, and your hand injury hasn’t healed, so she asked me to bring you some food."
Su Mu looked at the meal box in Su Shiyue’s hand and smiled:
"Come on in."
This was Su Shiyue’s first time at the studio, and he was curious about everything, especially when he saw the photos in Su Mu’s office, he stopped, looking at each for a long time, each one closely and occasionally expressing amazement, asking Su Mu:
"Sister-in-law, did you really take all these photos?"
Su Mu chuckled, "Are you interested in photography?"
Su Shiyue was silent for a few seconds, then shook his head:
"I don’t know what I’m interested in, including choosing a major for college; I had no particular preference. It was my brother who made the decision. To this day, I still don’t know what I truly like. I really envy you for being able to make your hobby your career."
"Hobbies are cultivated; what you’re born with is called a talent, but most people in this world don’t really speak of having a natural talent," Su Mu said, looking at Su Shiyue, "You’re basically free these days; why not come to the studio with me? Maybe you’ll fall in love with photography too."
Su Shiyue was momentarily stunned, clearly having not expected Su Mu to say that, incredulously asking her:
"Are you serious?"
Su Mu nodded, "It’s true, the studio isn’t too busy, and you don’t really have to do anything; just consider it play."
"Alright, thank you, sister-in-law."
If it had been before, Su Mu definitely wouldn’t have agreed to Su Shiyue coming to her place of work to mess around, but so many years had passed, and Su Shiyue was no longer the same as he was back then. Su Mu wasn’t saintly, but she wasn’t one to hold a grudge forever. Coupled with now how well he treated Qiqi, Su Mu thought that if she could help in some way, it would be a good thing.
