Chapter 497: Chapter 497: A Picture of Peaceful Times

Su Mu and her colleagues from the studio went out for a meal, everyone was so hungry that they had completely lost their image, Su Mu was also hungry, but for some reason, she didn’t really feel like eating, maybe it was because the most intense period of hunger had passed, so the craving for food wasn’t as strong.

The photoshoot with Qi Qi was scheduled after 4 p.m., and it wasn’t too far from the hotel where Lin Ning and the others were resting, so Su Mu let them go back to rest and continue later in the afternoon. Hearing Su Mu’s words, everyone sped up their eating and scattered like birds and beasts, with most of them leaving in no time.

Su Mu looked at Lin Ning beside her:

"Why aren’t you going back?"

"I need to escort you back first," Lin Ning said. "Who knows when Mr. Huang will strike you next, but it’s very safe with me by your side."

Su Mu was touched by Lin Ning’s care and smiled slightly:

"In that case, I’ll go to your hotel, wasn’t my room also booked? It hasn’t been canceled, right?"

Lin Ning shook her head:

"Forget that, your room, not sure if it’s Mr. Huang’s doing, happens to be right next to his. It’s more dangerous for you to go back."

Su Mu frowned slightly, then said no more. She could have shared a room with Lin Ning, but when Lin Ning booked the rooms, it was one room for every two people, except Su Mu was alone in one room. It seemed she still needed Lin Ning’s escort. Although she felt it unnecessary, Lin Ning’s insistence was probably not something she could persuade against.

Before leaving the restaurant, Su Mu called the waiter over to settle the meal bill for the group, but was told it had already been paid. Su Mu was perplexed, and Lin Ning also started to get nervous:

"Could it be Mr. Huang?"

Just as Su Mu was about to say that was unlikely since Mr. Huang was not that kind of person, she saw someone at a nearby position and understood. Lin Ning also saw Fu Shinian, smiling slightly:

"Sister Su, looks like I don’t need to escort you, with Mr. Fu here, Mr. Huang must be very confident to come and bother you."

Su Mu gave her a slight glare:

"Go and rest."

Lin Ning agreed and left, and Su Mu also got up after a short while and walked out of the restaurant without paying attention to Fu Shinian, but she knew that Fu Shinian was following her, maintaining a safe distance.

Back at the hotel, Su Mu took a shower and went straight to bed to sleep, and surprisingly, Fu Shinian didn’t say a word to let her rest, acting like an invisible person. At first, Su Mu wondered if he would suddenly attack, but as her consciousness gradually blurred, Fu Shinian remained still. The last image Su Mu saw before losing consciousness was Fu Shinian sitting in a wicker chair on the balcony reading a book.

At that moment, Su Mu thought of four words, "Peaceful and tranquil years."

The subsequent photoshoot went very smoothly, and Qi Qi was very satisfied with the photos. Even her usually taciturn fiancé praised them a few times and even invited Su Mu to attend their wedding next month. Su Mu wasn’t sure if she would have time that day, but promised she would come to witness their happy moment if she did.

On the last day of the shoot, Mr. Huang said he wanted to treat everyone to a meal to reward them for their hard work. Qi Qi and her fiancé had already flown to another island for a couple’s retreat, leaving behind the staff from the magazine and Su Mu’s studio.

Naturally, Su Mu didn’t want to go, but for appearances’ sake, she had to show up, and with so many people, Mr. Huang probably wouldn’t do anything overt, and moreover, Lin Ning was there, so Su Mu wasn’t afraid at all.

The restaurant was by the beach, with beautiful scenery, music, and bikini-clad women, along with relaxation after three straight days of work, so the atmosphere was very lively. Su Mu and Lin Ning sat in a corner of the restaurant like outsiders. Su Mu never really liked such lively scenes, but she thought Lin Ning might want to have fun:

"You don’t have to keep me company here. Go and have fun."

"No, I would leave you if Mr. Fu was here, but now with Mr. Huang staring like a hungry tiger, I won’t leave you for anything." Lin Ning moved closer to Su Mu: "Haven’t you noticed his eyes almost sticking to you during the meal? His intentions are as clear as daylight."

Su Mu laughed and got up:

"Then I’ll go to the restroom."

Lin Ning also stood up: "I’ll come with you."

"No need, just wait here for me, I’ll be back soon." Su Mu whispered into Lin Ning’s ear, "Mr. Fu has arranged a bodyguard for me, there won’t be any problems."

Lin Ning, having been trained since childhood, felt that those so-called bodyguards were not professional. On one hand, she thought her close protection would make Su Mu uncomfortable, like being under surveillance, after all, everyone has their own personal space, so she was somewhat worried, but ultimately, she did not follow.

Lin Ning sat at her spot waiting for Su Mu, and at that moment, a colleague noticed Lin Ning sitting alone and pulled her away from the table to join them in a game. Initially reserved, she had become completely familiar and was able to mingle with the studio staff, only now was she being extra cautious because of a weasel lurking around.

But now, with Su Mu off to the restroom, Lin Ning relaxed for a while, laughing and playing games with them. Lin Ning kept an absent-minded watch on the direction Su Mu left in. Later, people noticed and teased her:

"Lin Ning, I know you care about Sister Su, but her sticking around 24/7 will make her uncomfortable, not to mention Mr. Huang has booked the whole restaurant for today. Sister Su just went to the restroom and won’t be in any danger, I promise you. If you play well with us, once Sister Su comes back, I’ll let you go, how about that?"

Lin Ning, left with no choice, began to play Werewolf with them.

Su Mu returned after five minutes. By that time, a round of the Werewolf game had just finished, and Lin Ning was about to leave her cards and run, but was held down as someone called out for Su Mu:

"Sister Su, look at Lin Ning, she’s nearly as clingy as a plaster bandage. You must be annoyed with her, tell her to play with us. It’s no fun without her."

Su Mu sat down with a smile and spoke:

"Yeah, she’s kind of bothering me, you guys keep an eye on her and don’t let her come over again."

"Got it."

Lin Ning looked at Su Mu with concern, but Su Mu gave her a reassuring smile.

As the two were actually not far apart, maybe that’s why Lin Ning did not insist on coming over. Su Mu quietly watched them play for a while, and after two rounds, Mr. Huang sat down next to her. Su Mu saw Lin Ning getting ready to stand up but was quietly shaken off by her.
