Fu Shinian unexpectedly didn’t know that the people around him had all developed the Eyes of Golden Flame, but since it was summer and Su Mu was wearing short sleeves, such marks were indeed easy to spot. Fu Shinian didn’t hide anything and simply admitted his wrongs:

"I forced her."

Su Mu saw Fu Shinian the moment he entered, but the next second she looked away, not saying a word, nor giving him another glance. Fu Shinian silently stood by the bed, looking down at Qiqi. After a long silence, he too lay down on the bed. Su Mu’s expression tensed momentarily, showing signs of withdrawal, but Qiqi tightened her grip on her arm.

Fu Shinian spoke:

"Just lie still, I won’t do anything to you. I just want to be here with you, and with Qiqi."

His credibility in this regard was almost zero, and Su Mu was reluctant to believe him. However, she seemed to have no other options at this moment, especially since Qiqi still had a fever and needed her. Remembering what had just happened, Su Mu didn’t want to see Fu Shinian, but seeing his current attitude, really just lying there without any extra movements, she gradually let her guard down.

Time passed unknowingly. Qiqi sweated out her fever, and the heat receded. Su Mu fell asleep without realizing it. When she opened her eyes, Fu Shinian was using a towel to wipe Qiqi’s body and saw her wake up, he smiled slightly:

"Qiqi’s fever is gone, she should be fine now, you don’t need to worry anymore."

Su Mu felt somewhat regretful. In the past, whenever such incidents occurred, she would watch over Qiqi without leaving her side, not even daring to close her eyes. But somehow now she had become increasingly negligent. Fu Shinian seemed to sense what Su Mu was thinking, smiled slightly, and after washing the towel in the basin, he said lightly:

"Thank you for trusting me to take good care of Qiqi."

Su Mu looked up at him, suddenly understanding the meaning behind Fu Shinian’s words. He was saying that because she trusted him to take care of Qiqi, she could rest while Qiqi’s fever was still present, since he was indeed genuinely good to Qiqi.

"You don’t need to move, I’ve wiped all the sweat off Qiqi’s body. She should feel more comfortable now; you continue to stay with her."

Saying this, he picked up the basin from the floor and walked towards the bathroom. Su Mu watched Fu Shinian’s figure, lost in thought for a long time. This was her first time seeing Fu Shinian be so tender with someone, treating her like his entire world.

When Fu Shinian came out of the bathroom, he went directly to the wardrobe, retrieved a set of pajamas for Qiqi, and Su Mu knew what he was intending to do. So, she got up, and Fu Shinian glanced at her:

"Go wash as well, change into something comfortable, and then lie down with Qiqi."

Su Mu knew and trusted that Fu Shinian would take good care of Qiqi, so she did not refuse and went straight to the wardrobe to take her change of clothes out. She didn’t stay in the bathroom too long, and when she came out, Fu Shinian had already changed Qiqi into her pajamas, including himself into casual home clothes.

Hearing some noise, Fu Shinian looked back at Su Mu:

"It’s getting late, why don’t you sleep early, you might have to go to the hospital tomorrow."

Su Mu stepped forward:

"No, I’m not going anywhere. Qiqi is sick, and I won’t leave her side."

Fu Shinian heard this and smiled slightly, saying no more, because of Qiqi, they had a rare quiet moment of coexistence.

Perhaps the events that had occurred earlier in Su Mu’s apartment would make Su Mu unhappy, so Fu Shinian didn’t plan to stay overnight with them, although he really wanted to. But knowing Su Mu’s unwillingness, he prepared to leave. Yet, it happened that at this moment, Qiqi opened her eyes, saw Fu Shinian turning to leave, and softly called out:

"Fu Shinian..."

Fu Shinian turned around, smiled at Qiqi’s listless appearance, and walked over to bend down and gently caress her forehead:

"How do you feel now, Qiqi? Better?"

Qiqi nodded:

"Fu Shinian, are you leaving?"

"Yes, you need to rest well. Su Mu is here with you."

Qiqi seemed to notice Su Mu beside her then, looking at her and smiling sweetly, but her high fever left her with little energy, and her whole appearance was listless. She cried out ’Su Mu’ then returned her gaze to Fu Shinian, even reaching out to pull his hand:

"Fu Shinian, don’t leave, I want you to stay with me."

Fu Shinian bent down and kissed her forehead:

"I won’t leave you, I’ll stay with you, don’t worry."

"Will you leave after I fall asleep?"

Fu Shinian didn’t want to lie to his daughter, nor did he want to tell the harsh truth. Seeing the intense hope in Qiqi’s eyes, he turned his gaze on Su Mu, and Qiqi followed Fu Shinian’s gaze to her. Finally, she understood that Su Mu was the issue tonight and spoke:

"Su Mu, let Fu Shinian stay, please?"

Su Mu had always known of Qiqi’s dependency on Fu Shinian, but didn’t expect it to reach such an extent. She thought about refusing, which she definitely would have done under normal circumstances, but seeing Qiqi’s feeble appearance and her painfully pale little face, the simple words ’no good’ somehow couldn’t be spoken. In the end, she could only smile and nod:
