Chapter 471: Chapter 471: The So-Called Deadline, Early Performance

Su Mu looked at the cigarette before her, motionless.

Fu Shinian saw this and let out a cold laugh,

"You crave it when I don’t let you smoke, but now that I’m letting you, you’re suddenly motionless, Su Mu. It seems you’ve always been disobedient."

Fu Shinian’s words had an underlying message, and although Su Mu might have detected it, the way he stood there like a superior, accusing her of wrongdoing, was suffocating for Su Mu. Who did he think he was? What was their relationship? Nothing more than an ex-husband seeking reconciliation—but the power to reconcile or not still lay in her own hands. He really had no ground to stand before her, flaunting his power.

"It seems you’ve received the news."

Ji Qingluan already knew; thus, it wasn’t surprising that Fu Shinian knew as well. Su Mu had her suspicions.

"Do you really plan to get engaged to Wen Han?"

"Is your information false?"

Fu Shinian looked at Su Mu through the cloud of smoke and said, "I want to hear it from you, personally."

"It’s the same no matter who says it. I indeed plan to get engaged, at the end of this month. If you’re not too busy, you could come to the event. I won’t withhold an invitation out of concern over your status as my ex-husband. I believe Wen Han wouldn’t mind either; after all, he’s so understanding and considerate."

Fu Shinian narrowed his eyes at Su Mu, not showing anger, not even a change in his breathing, but Su Mu just knew—he was furious, and not just mildly infuriated. For some inexplicable reason, despite the apparent danger, a trace of excitement began to grow deep within her.

Inexplicably.

Fu Shinian didn’t utter another word; he simply rose and crossed the low table to Su Mu’s side. Su Mu tried to stand, but Fu Shinian pressed her back down by her shoulders with such force that she couldn’t resist. So, all she could do was watch, with her eyes wide open, as Fu Shinian took a seat beside her and then brought the half-smoked cigarette to her lips, saying,

"Try it."

Su Mu didn’t respond; Fu Shinian was in no hurry and even chuckled softly, taking another drag. Just as Su Mu was about to say something, Fu Shinian suddenly seized her chin, firmly pinching her cheeks with his thumb and index finger, forcing her mouth to part slightly. That’s when he leaned down to kiss her, passing her a puff of smoke.

Su Mu choked and couldn’t help coughing, but Fu Shinian didn’t intend to let her off the hook; he deepened the kiss until Su Mu was almost out of breath and her face flushed red with suffocation. Only then did he mercifully release her. Seeing that Su Mu was able to breathe somewhat smoothly, he chuckled softly,

"I don’t really want to say this, but it seems like you didn’t take my words to heart. Do you really want to see what I’m capable of doing to you?"

Unable to escape Fu Shinian’s grasp, Su Mu could only continue sitting,

"You are my ex-husband. You are so concerned about the news of my remarriage, I thought you still had feelings for me. But whatever choice I make is none of your business. From the moment we divorced, we agreed to stay out of each other’s lives. Mr. Fu, don’t you think you’re overstepping your bounds?"

Fu Shinian didn’t respond right away, instead snuffing out the little bit left of his cigarette butt in the ashtray on the table. Su Mu closely watched his every move, but she was still taken by surprise when he suddenly swept her up sideways, carrying her with large strides toward the bedroom.

Thrown onto the large bed and watching Fu Shinian begin to undress at the bedside, Su Mu started to panic. But with the room so confined, there was nowhere to retreat. She looked around for something to use as a weapon against Fu Shinian’s advances, but he had already seen through her intention and chuckled softly,

"You didn’t take my warning seriously. Today, I will physically show you what a lesson is."

As he spoke, he flung his shirt aside. Bare-chested, he began to unbuckle his belt. Su Mu could feel that Fu Shinian wasn’t joking in the slightest—all her previous irrationality had vanished. She began to weigh her options, regretting that she shouldn’t have used her inner torment to provoke this wild beast.

As Su Mu attempted to flee the bed, Fu Shinian pounced, pinning her down from behind without giving her a chance to cry out; he ripped her blouse off in one go.

He used strength, tearing the chiffon blouse apart in his savage grip. The cold air struck her back, followed by scorching kisses. Finally, Su Mu cried out in alarm,

"The engagement is fake, it’s fake. I’m not really getting engaged to Wen Han."

Fu Shinian halted but continued to pin down Su Mu without saying a word, clearly waiting for her explanation.

Though she loathed to do it, faced with Fu Shinian in such a state, Su Mu had no choice but to explain the whole situation. She said she indeed planned to get engaged to Wen Han in half a month, but it wasn’t without the possibility of calling it off. If Zhou Yaxian’s health improved within that time, they could cancel at any moment. Even if her health didn’t improve, it would merely be for show; they both understood it wasn’t serious.

After divulging everything, Su Mu felt incredibly pathetic. She had initially taken pleasure in seeing Fu Shinian look so wild, but in an instant, she was pleading for mercy. Whether her engagement was false or not, it was none of his business. But now, his threat had left her with no choice but to capitulate.

She had said all that she could, and even the unspeakable, hoping that Fu Shinian would get off her, as his weight was nearly suffocating her.

Fu Shinian remained silent for a long time, and Su Mu sensed he had cooled off somewhat, but he still hadn’t moved. As she struggled to understand what he was thinking, unable to endure the position any longer, she shifted slightly, signaling Fu Shinian to let her go. But he had no intention of doing so and, after a prolonged silence, leaned down to continue the interrupted kiss.

Passionate and inescapable.

Su Mu panicked, but she was already prone on the bed, pinned down by Fu Shinian, making any attempt to struggle or escape seem futile. Still, she sought that last sliver of hope, but Fu Shinian was frustrated with her struggle and effortlessly restrained Su Mu’s hands, pulling out his belt and tying them to the head of the bed.

A second before Su Mu could curse out loud, he covered her mouth with his hand to silence her and whispered in her ear,

"I was thinking of waiting until you broke things off with Wen Han of your own accord. But when I gave you freedom, you took it lightly and even played the engagement card. Su Mu..."

Fu Shinian bit her earlobe, his tone fierce, "This bed... one way or another, I’ll end up here. To prevent a real engagement with Wen Han, I think it’s better to advance what’s to happen tonight."
