Chapter 443: Chapter 443: Changing the Name, Qiqi Refuses

No matter the reason why Wen Han hadn’t called him, Su Mu still sent her a WeChat message, but he didn’t tell her that he was staying at Bishui Yuntian. He felt that some things are better left unknown. What Su Mu didn’t know was that Wen Han was always aware of his whereabouts because, due to work-related reasons, each vehicle of the Wen Family was equipped with a tracking device, and Wen Han only needed to check her phone to know exactly where the car was parked.

Before receiving Su Mu’s WeChat message, Wen Han already knew that it was very likely Su Mu wouldn’t leave that night. Yet, the message made Wen Han somewhat sleepless throughout the night.

Of course, Su Mu was unaware of this.

She was now standing in the bathroom preparing to wash up when she found that all the skincare products placed on the washstand were her usual brands, all brand new and unopened. This was, after all, where she had lived for two years. Despite not returning for three years, she still remembered what it was like originally. Standing in this familiar environment now, she truly felt like she was living a dream, as if she had never left.

At first, she wasn’t sure if there would still be any of her clothes in the walk-in closet, but after seeing the items in the bathroom, she dropped such doubts. She went to fetch a nightgown from the closet, originally thinking they would still be the ones she had left behind. However, to her surprise, all the clothes had new tags attached and were the latest styles of the season, including all bags and accessories.

Su Mu didn’t know who had prepared this, but ultimately it must have been approved by Fu Shinian; otherwise, no one would have dared to do it. She casually grabbed a nightgown to put on, then lay down on the bed. Qiqi sensed her presence and involuntarily shifted closer. Su Mu watched Qiqi’s sleeping face and smiled softly.

Having slept too long in the afternoon and being in such an environment, Su Mu didn’t feel sleepy at all until the sky began to brighten slightly. Later, she wasn’t sure if she was dreaming or having a nightmare, but she always felt that someone was pressing down on her, rendering her immobile.

When she woke up again, Qiqi was no longer by her side. Su Mu was startled, and surprised at how soundly she could sleep in such a setting. She hadn’t even noticed the sprightly Qiqi getting up. She got out of bed, quickly washed up, and then went downstairs, finding Qiqi sitting at the breakfast table with Fu Shinian. The old lady was not around.

Descending the stairs, Su Mu looked around and said,

"Where’s the old lady?"

"She went out for a walk," Fu Shinian replied, looking towards Su Mu and instructing Auntie Lin, "Auntie Lin, please bring the lady’s breakfast over."

Su Mu sat at the breakfast table, completely unaware of what Fu Shinian had just referred to her as. She still hadn’t fully snapped back to reality, feeling as if it was still the time when the two were still married. Auntie Lin, seeing Su Mu’s expression, smiled gently and went to the kitchen happily to fetch the utensils without a word.

Qiqi looked at Su Mu and smiled slightly,

"Mu, did you sleep well?"

Su Mu nodded, "Very well, and you?"

"With Mu beside me, of course, I slept very well."

Before Su Mu could feel pleased by the remark, she heard Qiqi’s next half sentence, "But if Fu Shinian were also beside me last night, I think I would have slept even better."

Fu Shinian chuckled upon hearing this, and lightly pinched Qiqi’s nose,

"Don’t worry, I won’t make you wait too long."

Qiqi exclaimed with delight, "Really? Fu Shinian, you must not lie."

"I’m not lying."

Fu Shinian was confident as he said this. However, once he was reunited with Su Mu, he would realize that today’s promise was undoubtedly like lifting a rock only to drop it on his own foot. Because of today’s promise, Qiqi would often come to their bed and even sleep between them, making it impossible for Fu Shinian to misbehave. He often had to quietly move Qiqi in the middle of the night, or else carry Su Mu to the guest room, and then return after finishing what they were doing.

Of course, that was a story for another time.

Now, however, his and Qiqi’s conversation upset Su Mu, but she didn’t say anything, likely considering Qiqi’s feelings. After a moment of silence, she addressed Qiqi,

"Qiqi, you can’t call Fu Shinian by his name directly; it’s impolite."

Qiqi, who was drinking milk, casually asked,

"If I can’t call him Fu Shinian, then what should I call him?"

"He is your dad, what do you think?"

Following this remark, Fu Shinian was momentarily stunned, then looked towards Su Mu, full of surprise, "You finally acknowledge it?"

"It’s not about whether I acknowledge it or not, it’s the fact. Although you didn’t want to acknowledge it before, Qiqi is growing up and understands a lot now. Your relationship with her is so good now; it’s not something I can intervene in. So, calling you Fu Shinian or dad doesn’t seem to make much difference."

Qiqi blinked at Fu Shinian, and despite being only three years old, she still saw the slow expectation in his eyes. He seemed very hopeful to hear Qiqi call him "Dad", but Qiqi hesitated and ultimately didn’t speak,

"I don’t want to."

Fu Shinian’s disappointment was evident, but he still smiled,

"No rush. Even if Qiqi and I get along well, such a significant change in identity might be hard for her to accept."

As Su Mu was about to say something, Qiqi spoke,

"I know you are my dad, and I don’t want to deny it. If I wanted to deny you, I wouldn’t play with you."

Fu Shinian became a bit curious, looking at Qiqi,

"Then, do you have any issues with me?"

"No, it’s just that I feel if I change how I address you, Mu would be unhappy."

Qiqi looked at Su Mu, "Mu, don’t worry, I will never abandon you. If you ask me to choose, I only want you. I can do without Fu Shinian."

Su Mu hadn’t really anticipated Qiqi’s sentiment, as she assumed that since Qiqi and Fu Shinian got along so harmoniously, she must also want him to be her dad. It was merely out of consideration of her not having initiated the address change. But now, it seemed she actually felt very insecure. She was afraid that by allowing her to recognize Fu Shinian, Su Mu herself would abandon her.

At this moment, the careful look in Qiqi’s eyes said it all, which deeply touched Su Mu. Gently, she reached out and hugged her,

"Qiqi, I will never abandon you. You can be sure of it."

"I still don’t want it," Qiqi held Su Mu’s neck tightly, "A friend I used to play with was like this. After being with her dad, her mom abandoned her, and she hasn’t seen her mom in a long time."
