Chapter 364: Chapter 364: Demanding Justice, Getting Beaten in Public
Su Yimo pursed her lips and spoke softly,
"When ’Mu Tou’ and I separated, he said he was going to find answers about Dad, and I want to know, will Dad still die?"
"He’s fine," Su Mu replied calmly, "His body is very healthy and he has no diseases, so Qiqi doesn’t need to worry."
Su Mu saw an obvious smile appear on Su Yimo’s face, clearly more relaxed than before. For the first time, she believed in the notion of blood ties, even though they hadn’t spent much time together, and had barely met before. Strangely, she found herself inexplicably worried and concerned about him.
"Then, can I go see him?"
When she asked this question with some excitement, Su Yimo realized her improper over eagerness, but the words once spoken could not be taken back. She looked at Su Mu with some worry,
"Mu Tou, I didn’t mean..."
"Does Qiqi want to see him?"
Su Yimo shook her head,
"No, Qiqi doesn’t want to."
This almost eager answer was so clear even a fool could hear that it wasn’t heartfelt, and even more so to Su Mu who spent day and night with her. Su Yimo did want to meet Fu Shinian, Su Mu was sure of that. Suddenly, she felt an impulse to make Qiqi choose between her and Fu Shinian—if she chose her, she should not meet Fu Shinian; and if she chose Fu Shinian, she should completely part ways with herself.
But impulse was just an impulse, as long as she loved Qiqi and considered her feelings, she would never force such a choice upon her.
Even without asking, Su Mu knew Qiqi would choose her, but what about Fu Shinian? She might want to be with him. If she truly didn’t want to, she wouldn’t be asking about him now. Her questions indicated that she cared.
With a metaphorical knife, she couldn’t sever her deep feelings, it was a cruelty Su Mu couldn’t commit, nor did she deign to.
Su Mu gently held Su Yimo in her arms, falling into a long silence so deep that Su Yimo almost fell asleep there when she faintly heard Su Mu’s voice saying,
"Qiqi, let me think about it... think about it properly..."
---
Fu Shinian had been incredibly busy these past days, so busy that he almost had no time to see Su Mu or to consider their issues.
Busy clarifying at a press conference the false news of his impending death, busy releasing a statement to cancel his engagement, busy arranging Bishui Yuntian for his grandmother to move in, and busier still getting Fu Corporation back on track. Although the core employees who had left had been preemptively arranged by him and had returned to their previous positions, the company’s trauma was still present. He had to devote more effort to restore the company to its former glory.
Even though Ji Nanfeng suggested shutting down Fu Corporation and simply starting a new company as it was the most time and effort saving method, Fu Shinian did not accept this approach. His attachment to Fu Corporation wasn’t something that could be easily explained in a few words.
Initially, it was his grandfather who handed Fu Corporation over to his father, and then from his father to him. Each of them had devoted much blood, sweat, and tears to this company; it wasn’t right for him, who also carried the Fu family’s blood, to let the company perish under his watch.
This wasn’t the outcome he wanted, nor would he allow it to happen on his watch.
These days of flying had allowed him to truly calm down. Above the clouds, as he looked at the brilliant swathes of sunlight, he smiled to himself. Indeed, he was used to being busy; being busy woke him up, calmed him down, and made him seriously realize that to win back Su Mu, impulsiveness and stubbornness were not the way.
Yet, he also wasn’t sure he could gently win Su Mu back from Wen Han.
Too difficult.
Moreover, once Su Mu decided on something, she rarely turned back. But even so, he still had to try; how could he know the result without trying? Perhaps there could be a miracle.
When Fu Shinian landed in Shen City, Song Yi saw his exhaustion and asked,
"Back to Bishui Yuntian first?"
Fu Shinian pinched the bridge of his nose, "Let’s go to the company first."
Song Yi nodded and said nothing further.
As the two walked towards the exit, they hadn’t gone far when someone called out Fu Shinian’s name from behind. Fu Shinian stopped and turned around, but before he could see the person clearly, he was struck with a punch that was exceptionally forceful. For Fu Shinian, who had been flying for long periods recently, physically exhausted and not well-rested, it was an unbearable hit—if not for Song Yi’s quick reaction to drop the luggage and support him, Fu Shinian would have fallen to the ground.
By the time he steadied himself, tasting the blood in his mouth, the passersby had also stopped to watch this unexpected, free spectacle, especially since the two involved looked so familiar. Many had already taken out their mobile phones to capture the scene.
Fu Shinian glanced at Song Yi, who subtly nodded and went towards the bystanders.
Fu Shinian, then, touched his tongue to the cheek that had been hit. Honestly, it hurt a lot, but he wasn’t really angry. Instead, he looked at the still furious man across from him and said softly,
"Manager Wei, such fierce anger."
"I was quite calm before I saw you, but I don’t know why, seeing you, my anger just uncontrollably flared up."
Fu Shinian chuckled softly,
"Now that I’m like this, has Manager Wei calmed down?"
"Do you think that what you did can be offset by just taking a punch? Fu Shinian, there’s no such good deal in the world."
Fu Shinian nodded,
"If that’s the case, let’s find a place where I can buy you a drink to cool off your temper. After all, this is a public place, and we both are public figures. It’s somewhat improper to let people watch us make a spectacle of ourselves for free."
"Only those with a guilty conscience fear other people watching. I am clean and have nothing to fear. Even if the Emperor stood before me, I dare to speak my mind. What about you? Do you dare?"
Fu Shinian looked at him, said nothing, his composed demeanor appearing as if Wei Shaoqin was making unreasonable noise, which only further irked Wei Shaoqin,
"Don’t look at me like that, believe it or not, I’ll hit you again?"
Fu Shinian smiled,
"You didn’t call me here just to hit me, did you?"
"You know better," Wei Shaoqin squinted at him, "I should have punched you in the face half a month ago, but I’ve been too busy until now. You got off lightly; today, heaven let us meet, and it seems they have their eyes open."
