Chapter 327: Chapter 327: She Has Never Forgotten You

Leaving the Fu family and breaking up with Fu Shinian, Su Mu had always been very clear about maintaining a distance from the Fu family. However, Wen Han felt that it was very difficult for people to completely cut off their emotions, whether it was love or hate. It was not something you could simply forget, and Su Mu’s concern for the old lady was only natural.

"If you’re not going to visit, you can at least make a phone call to check in."

Su Mu looked at Wen Han quietly for a few seconds and smiled slightly,

"I’ll give Xiaobei a call; she should know."

"Good."

Su Mu called Jiang Bei, but to her surprise, the one who answered was Ji Nanfeng. His first words were,

"Su Mu? Do you need me for something?"

"...I meant to call Xiaobei."

It then dawned on Ji Nanfeng,

"I wasn’t paying attention; she went to the emergency department. I’ve been holding onto her phone and forgot to give it back to her. Is there something you need?"

"You’re at the hospital?"

"Yeah," Ji Nanfeng affirmed with a sound, "The old lady was hospitalized, so I came to see her."

Su Mu was about to hang up, but thinking there wasn’t much difference between asking Jiang Bei or Ji Nanfeng, she only wanted to know about the old lady’s current condition. Thus, she spoke softly,

"I have no other business, just heard that the old lady wasn’t feeling well today, so I wanted to ask how she is doing now?"

There was a few seconds of silence on the other end of the phone, and just as Su Mu had a bad feeling, a deep voice came through, saying,

"Are you worried?"

The voice on the other end had changed to Fu Shinian. Su Mu didn’t want to hear his voice and disliked his tone of enquiry, but since the call was already made and she had come this far, even if she didn’t admit it, Ji Nanfeng would have told Fu Shinian about her question. There was no need for her to hide, so she spoke,

"The old lady did take care of me for more than two years. Now that I know she is unwell, it’s proper for me to ask."

"If you’re so concerned, why not come to the hospital to see her?" Fu Shinian’s tone was much better, "Although the old lady has been somewhat lucid these past three years, she still remembers you. Not long ago, she was holding your photo and called you ’granddaughter-in-law.’ She has never forgotten about you."

Although Su Mu didn’t really want to listen to Fu Shinian’s voice, she couldn’t deny that what Fu Shinian had just said touched the softest part of her heart. Whatever grudges she and Fu Shinian had, the old lady had nothing to do with them. Even if Fu Shinian looked at her as a walking kidney donor, Su Mu believed the old lady would not be aware, and if she were, she surely would not agree.

If she could, she would also like to be by the old lady’s side and show filial piety, for after all, she was the kindest elder to her in this world. Unfortunately, it seemed there was never such fate between them.

"I’d rather not go," Su Mu refused decisively, "It might cause misunderstandings for your fiancée if she saw me, but by the sound of it, it seems the old lady is safe now. I’m relieved to hear that. I have other matters to attend to, so I’ll hang up now."

"Su Mu." Fu Shinian stopped her, "The wedding photoshoot is off. Do you have any other plans next?"

Su Mu slightly frowned, "What’s that to you."

"Listen to me, go back to Jiangcheng City. Don’t come back during this period."

Su Mu let out a light laugh upon hearing this, "Does Mr. Fu still think he’s the influential man he was back then? When I return, or decide to stay, seems to be none of your business."

"Su Mu." Knowing that Su Mu was angry, Fu Shinian said helplessly, "No matter what news comes out recently, don’t believe it unless I tell you myself."

Su Mu found it perplexing and hung up the phone directly.

Wen Han had already stood up and left when he heard that Su Mu had been talking to Fu Shinian, as if deliberately giving her space. Now seeing that she had finished the call, he walked back over and sat down next to her, taking out a helium balloon from behind as he did so.

"Here you go."

Su Mu took it with a smile:

"You’re really treating me like a child."

"Yeah, if I get the chance, I’ll always treat you as a child."

Understanding his meaning, Su Mu raised her eyes to look at him, and Wen Han instantly smiled, "I’m not forcing you, you said you needed to think about it, and I will naturally give you plenty of time. Don’t worry, I won’t urge you at all, absolutely not."

Su Mu averted her gaze, looking at the pig-shaped helium balloon in her hand and the corner of her mouth slightly lifted:

"Xiaobei’s phone was with Ji Nanfeng, he was with Fu Shinian, so he gave the phone to Fu Shinian. The old lady is already out of danger."

What Su Mu said made Wen Han slightly stunned for a moment, then he quickly looked at her and said:

"I need to confirm something with you."

"Go ahead."

"If I haven’t misunderstood, were those words you just explained to me?"

After a few seconds of silence, Su Mu neither denied nor admitted it. She knew those words did carry an element of explanation and she also knew that the relationship between her and Wen Han wasn’t at a stage where she owed him any explanations, and he might not even want to know. But still, she had said it.

It was natural and without reason. If she had to give one, it was probably because she didn’t want the friends who cared about her to think she still had any feelings for Fu Shinian.

This sort of candidness was enough to prove that her feelings for Fu Shinian had completely ended three years ago.

Su Mu went back to the Wen Family with Wen Han to pick up Su Yimo. Because it was already late, Su Yimo was almost asleep. Not only that, she kept clinging to Wen Shaoyuan and didn’t want to leave. Seeing this, Wen Han couldn’t help but chuckle:

"The two kids must be tired after playing all day. Why don’t we let Qiqi sleep here tonight, and they can continue to play tomorrow."

Since Su Yimo was a frequent guest at the Wen Family and occasionally stayed overnight, Su Mu initially didn’t expect this situation. If she had known, she wouldn’t have followed Wen Han to pick her up in the first place. She smiled helplessly:

"Alright then, she can sleep here. I’ll go back first."

Wen Han stopped her:

"It’s already so late, why don’t you stay with Qiqi as well?"

Before Su Mu could say anything, Zhou Yaxian came down from upstairs and smiled:

"Exactly, it’s so late, don’t trouble yourself. Wen Han has to go to the station early tomorrow, so it’s better to get some rest early."

The words Su Mu wanted to say got stuck in her throat, unspoken and unswallowable. She hadn’t intended to let Wen Han keep driving her, but after Zhou Yaxian suggested she stay, it seemed inappropriate for Su Mu to insist on taking a taxi home. Although she had no other intentions, and thought going back would be more convenient for her, maybe the hosts would get the wrong idea.

She looked at Wen Han for help, and Wen Han, who understood Su Mu’s difficulty, was about to respond when Zhou Yaxian called Auntie Li:

"Go, prepare a guest room for Su Mu."

Auntie Li smiled and acknowledged before heading upstairs. Just as Wen Han was trying to argue, a clap of thunder suddenly sounded from outside, followed by the sound of pouring rain. Wen Han helplessly looked at Su Mu, indicating that he really couldn’t bear to let her go back in this weather.

It looked as though the matter was settled.

Su Mu whispered her thanks and then took Su Yimo upstairs to sleep. The little one was truly too sleepy to keep her eyes open. When only the Wen family was left in the living room, Wen Han finally couldn’t help but say:

"Mom, what are you doing?"
