Chapter 265: Chapter 265: The Mountain Rain is Coming, the Wind Fills the Building
After showering, Su Mu had already prepared a simple breakfast downstairs. When Fu Shinian came down, she had just set the breakfast on the table:
"It’s still early, eat something."
"Okay."
Fu Shinian sat down on one side of the dining table, and looking at the delicate and appetizing breakfast in front of him, he suddenly realized it had been a long time since he had tasted Su Mu’s cooking. She used to cook often, but he wasn’t often at home, and even when he was, he would lose his appetite seeing the meals she had made.
Thinking back on his past self, he truly didn’t know the blessings he had.
But the past was the past, and he didn’t want to say anything about apologies anymore, because they were of no use or help to Su Mu, nor were they what Su Mu wanted.
But not saying didn’t mean he didn’t know; he kept everything in his heart, planning to make up for it manifold later.
After breakfast, the driver had arrived at Gui Ning Residence, but Fu Shinian still took Su Mu for a walk around the yard. Although he had already gotten a rough understanding of the entire manor last night, being in it during the daytime gave an even more dreamlike feeling, no wonder some called this place a paradise on earth. Su Mu didn’t think it was an exaggeration at all.
Every scene was just right, every design showcased taste.
No one would dislike this place. Su Mu was just an ordinary person, and she liked it here too. If possible, she thought she could wander around here all day without getting tired, but Fu Shinian wouldn’t allow it. It was winter, and the place was near water and by the mountains, so it was inevitably colder. If they stayed there all day, Fu Shinian felt that Su Mu would surely fall sick.
He said,
"When the weather gets warmer, you and Mrs. Fu come to live here. Then you can wander as long as you like as long as you don’t get sick of it."
Su Mu agreed with his reasoning and didn’t insist. She followed him out of Gui Ning Residence, but as she sat in the car and the car slowly drove out of Gui Ning Residence, watching the big gates gently close behind her, Su Mu suddenly felt like she might never return.
An inexplicable sadness.
Her changing emotions were caught by Fu Shinian, who asked:
"What’s wrong?"
Su Mu shook her head slightly, "It’s just that everything last night felt like a dream."
Fu Shinian curved his lips in a light smile, originally wanting to say a few teasing words. He felt nothing by it, but with the driver present, Su Mu might feel a bit embarrassed, so he slightly turned towards her and whispered in her ear:
"Can I take that to mean... you were very satisfied with my performance last night?"
Su Mu at first didn’t think there was anything amiss with his words and lightly nodded her head, only to meet his triumphantly smiling face. She then realized that his words might have had another meaning and glared at him angrily, but he only laughed more wantonly, biting her earlobe softly and murmuring:
"Talk to your relative and ask her to leave soon, I haven’t had my fill last night."
"Fu Shinian!"
How could he be so wicked?
——
Not long after returning to the old house, Song Yi arrived. Today was the sixth day of the new year, and the company had already started working normally. Originally, Song Yi was somewhat anxious; after all, he knew how bad the relationship between his boss and Mrs. Fu had been. But today, they seemed very affectionate, even more so than before the incident occurred.
With the boss in a good mood, his work would go much smoother as well. Truly, a fresh new year, everything was developing smoothly.
Before Fu Shinian left the house, Su Mu handed him a trench coat, and watching him put it on, she couldn’t help but smile. Fu Shinian looked at her and raised his hand to touch her face: "What are you laughing at?"
"I just think you look really good in a trench coat."
He kissed Su Mu’s cheek and whispered,
"I thought you liked it better when I wore nothing at all."
That man... Su Mu blushed slightly, looking at him somewhat speechlessly,
"You better go now, Song Yi is waiting for you."
He looked at her, his smile doting, "Okay."
Watching his car drive away, Su Mu turned to head back to the living room, only to find that both the elderly lady and Su Shiyue were watching her with mischievous grins. She felt a bit uncomfortable, but seeing the elderly lady’s joyful expression made her think it was worth it.
The elderly lady beckoned her over and then gently held Su Mu’s hand,
"Susu, have you forgiven Shinian?"
Su Mu shook her head slightly:
"Grandma, Shinian hasn’t really done anything wrong, so there’s nothing to forgive or not forgive. Perhaps I just understood my own heart. I don’t want to leave him, and I don’t want any misunderstandings between us. I want to be with him for a lifetime, taking care of you along with him."
"Good," the elderly lady’s eyes turned slightly red upon hearing this, perhaps because something she had long hoped for was being realized, hence the emotional response, "Good, seeing you and Shinian getting along so well, even if I close my eyes now, I can go peacefully."
"Grandma." Su Mu looked at her discontentedly, "What are you talking about? If your poor health is the price for Shinian’s and my happiness, I would leave right now."
"Not leaving, not leaving," the elderly lady held onto Su Mu’s hand tightly, as if she would disappear in the next second, "I was just kidding. We are all fine, you and Shinian are fine, and so is my health. I still need to help you look after the kids."
Su Mu smiled and nodded.
Su Shiyue was also laughing joyfully nearby. She looked at Su Mu and sincerely wished,
"Seeing you and my brother so happy, it feels like a weight has been lifted off my heart. I hope you two can always be like this. Even if I am abroad, I can rest easy."
"Are you going back to school?"
"Yes, I was actually on leave and have stayed quite long already."
Su Mu nodded lightly,
"Study hard, and we’ll wait for your return."
Su Shiyue paused for a moment because of Su Mu’s words, but then realized that although she didn’t say ’forgive’, her attitude was not as unforgiving as before about the past. Maybe it was because of Shinian, because of her love for him, because she wanted to start over, and thus she had come to terms with all the previous imperfections associated with him.
Su Mu returned to her room intending to rest a bit. She was worn out by Shinian last night and her body still showed signs of soreness.
However, when she went to the restroom and saw that her period was just as scant as last time, she suddenly realized that there might be a problem with her body. After some thought, she decided to go to the hospital to check. After all, health is not a trivial matter. Remembering it was the sixth day of the month, she also took her mother’s bank card, hoping to find out in the bank where this 20-million transaction had come from.
If there was a way to foretell the future or know of things beforehand in this world, Su Mu would have never chosen to leave the house that day.
But, there are no ifs.
