Chapter 264: Chapter 264 Good morning, Mrs. Fu
Fu Shinian looked at Su Mu’s slight nod, and his whole heart felt like it was melting, he even suspected he was seeing things, so he wanted to confirm it once more:
"Really?"
Su Mu smiled helplessly, meeting his intense gaze, she admitted:
"Yes, I don’t want to get divorced anymore. I want to start over with you, to see just how beautiful the future is that you’ve outlined for me."
Su Mu looked at him seriously, with a hint of desperation:
"Fu Shinian, this is the last time I’m trusting you. Don’t let me lose."
He didn’t respond with words, but rather pulled her into his embrace, his single hand gripping the back of her head as he bent down and kissed her. It was the most passionate, the most urgent kiss Su Mu had experienced from all of Fu Shinian’s kisses, as if only through this could he express his feelings.
Su Mu’s lips were sore from his kiss, yet she didn’t voice any resistance; instead, she wrapped her arms around him, giving him her own most passionate response.
She still liked this man and didn’t want to lie to herself anymore.
Su Mu wasn’t Fu Shinian’s first girlfriend, and they had not experienced that period of tender ambiguity, so Su Mu had never felt what it was like to have someone like Fu Shinian as her boyfriend.
But at this moment, being held in Fu Shinian’s embrace, kissed with such heat, it seemed Su Mu could finally understand.
The man before her was not the decisive, thirty-year-old Fu Shinian known in the business world, nor the universally admired business prodigy; he was just himself, an innocent and naive Shinian with emotions just awakening.
Su Mu felt honored to see the once Shinian at the beginning of the new year.
Some things, once started, cannot be ended. When Fu Shinian left Su Mu’s lips, panting, he realized he wanted so much more. His forehead rested against hers, his breath burning hot as he said:
"Su Mu, I want you."
What he wanted went without saying. Su Mu’s face was already flushed, and at Fu Shinian’s words, she didn’t even have the courage to raise her head to look at him. She just looked down at their toes and said softly:
"We haven’t had dinner yet."
"Then... shall we do it first and eat after?"
This answer was shameless. Before Su Mu could get angry, Fu Shinian already scooped her up sideways and headed upstairs. The abandoned ingredients in the kitchen lay forlornly on the glass counter, fortunately accompanied by the moonlight outside the window. Though but a crescent, it resembled the curved smiles on happy people’s faces.
Having decided to divorce, Su Mu never imagined there could be a day of reconciliation, yet Fu Shinian’s actions over the past days had slowly thawed her frozen heart. No one could refuse a warm embrace, and Su Mu was no different. Even though the person now hugging and kissing her had once brought bone-chilling coldness, the warmth she wanted most in this world was also from him.
She wanted to give Fu Shinian a chance, to give herself a chance, to give a future for the two of them a chance.
Who could definitely say that their future wouldn’t be happy?
Perhaps they could also live out a fairytale ending.
The light poured down from above, and Su Mu could clearly see the frenzy in Fu Shinian’s eyes.
Gradually, this frenzy began to manifest in his actions. Perhaps there was a trace of tenderness and pity within this dominance, but to Su Mu, who was completely controlled by Fu Shinian’s emotions, it was undoubtedly a drop in the bucket.
She closed her eyes, silently enduring everything Fu Shinian gave to her. In the tumultuous waves, her heart went through endless twists and turns, filled with all sorts of feelings. Even though she had made up her mind, she couldn’t help but feel anxious.
But since she had chosen to forgive, she swore not to look back.
It wasn’t until 10:15 AM that Su Mu’s breathing began to even out. She lay in the bed, utterly drained of strength; her sweat-drenched body made her seem like a daffodil just pulled out of the sea. Fu Shinian, on the other hand, appeared refreshed. He gently stroked the strands of hair on her forehead, the tenderness of his touch intoxicating:
"Are you hungry? Shall I have someone bring something over?"
Extremely tired, Su Mu shook her head lightly with her eyes still closed, "Tired..."
Seeing her resemble a lazy little kitten in this manner, even though Fu Shinian thought they should eat something, he couldn’t bear to disturb her and bent down to kiss her temple:
"You sleep well, I’m going to wash up."
Su Mu responded faintly and fell into a deep sleep. Fu Shinian covered her with a blanket and went to the bathroom.
When he came out, Su Mu was breathing evenly, maintaining the same position as before. The thought of carrying her to wash up faded. He went back to the bathroom, brought out a warm towel, and gently wiped down her body. Although it wasn’t as comfortable as a bath, at least it would make her feel a bit fresher.
She slept so deeply, without any awareness, just lying there obediently, letting him do as he pleased. Fu Shinian changed the towel several times and was startled to find a trace of blood on the towel during the final cleansing.
He was momentarily alarmed, worried that he had been too forceful without restraint earlier. After carefully checking and somewhat reassured by finding no wounds—just the feeling of a woman’s monthly cycle—he emotionally called Auntie Lin, asking her to bring over a change of clothes and feminine products.
The next day, it wasn’t Fu Shinian or the sunlight outside the window, but the chirping of birds in the woods that woke up Su Mu. The moment she opened her eyes, she wasn’t quite sure where she was. A few seconds later, as her mind cleared and she felt the aches in her body, the memories of last night slowly entered her mind.
She looked around and saw no sign of Fu Shinian in the room. She was wearing a silk nightgown, unsure of when he had changed her into it.
After lying quietly for a while, she got out of bed, only to realize there was something unusual about her lower body. It was only after going to the bathroom that she found out her period had started. Presumably, the sanitary napkin was also something he had helped her with last night. It was embarrassing, but even more so, it was sweet.
After freshening up and stepping out of the bathroom, Su Mu went to the balcony. Last night, she had only glanced briefly at the second-floor room and hadn’t looked closely. Now, standing on the balcony and looking out, she felt an added fondness for this place.
Due to its proximity to the mountain range and the winter season, even through the glass window, Su Mu could see mist swirling among the trees within Gui Ning Residence, truly living up to its reputation as a rare paradise on earth.
When Fu Shinian came back from exercising downstairs, what he saw upon entering was Su Mu standing by the floor-to-ceiling window, and he smiled slightly:
"Good morning, Mrs. Fu."
Su Mu also turned and smiled at him:
"Good morning, Mr. Fu."
At that time, they didn’t know that this very moment was going to be the happiest one in the next three years of their lives.
