Chapter 192 What happened between you and Wen Han?
Chapter 192: Chapter 192 What happened between you and Wen Han?
Su Mu wanted to come over and accompany Jiang Bei but was stopped by him with a slight smile:
"I’m fine, you go and take care of Wei Shaoqin, his injuries are more serious."
Su Mu was still not at ease, and Qiao Yu stood by, glanced at Jiang Bei, and said:
"Go on, aren’t you reassured with me taking care of Jiang Bei?"
Behind the partition curtain, Qiao Yu was preparing tools while Jiang Bei sat silently on the diagnostic bed, beginning to undress. When Qiao Yu turned around, he saw Jiang Bei down to a single undershirt and about to remove more. Although Qiao Yu was startled at first, he quickly understood:
"Are you injured?"
If there were no injuries, she wouldn’t need to do this just because of discomfort in her arm.
Jiang Bei responded:
"I believe my back has been slashed."
Qiao Yu frowned, walked over, and helped her remove her close-fitting sweater. She was dressed in black today, so even if she was bleeding, outsiders couldn’t tell. But now, standing behind her, Qiao Yu couldn’t help but frown at the sight of the wound:
"You’ve been enduring this the whole time? You even wanted to check on Wei Shaoqin first—do you think you’re Iron Man?"
Jiang Bei chuckled lightly:
"It’s just a flesh wound; it didn’t feel serious to me."
She was a tough person, but Qiao Yu’s heart contracted at seeing her wound, feeling that it hurt more than if it were cut across his own heart. But he couldn’t show it and simply said calmly:
"Luckily, it’s winter. The thick clothing helped absorb some of the force, and the wound isn’t very deep, so stitches won’t be necessary."
Jiang Bei smiled:
"Qiao Yu, why do I feel like you’re more nervous than I am?"
"Are you in so much pain that you’re hallucinating?"
Jiang Bei just smiled and said nothing more.
When Qiao Yu poured alcohol on the wound, he clearly saw Jiang Bei shiver slightly, the back of her hand grasping the bed’s edge turning pale from the force, yet she didn’t make any sound, just bearing it resolutely.
"If it hurts, just scream."
Jiang Bei shook her head: "Su Mu would worry."
Qiao Yu looked at her deeply from behind, suddenly feeling like he had never truly understood her.
Logically, a princess who grew up in such family conditions should be a bit more self-centered, not too concerned about others’ feelings. Yet, Jiang Bei always put the people around her first, protecting and guarding them, not allowing anyone to harm them.
And herself, no matter how much it hurt or wounded, she never spoke of it.
Wei Shaoqin’s wounds were actually lighter compared to Jiang Bei’s. Su Mu didn’t know about Jiang Bei’s injuries, but standing by Wei Shaoqin’s side, he still felt his heart tremble with fear. Wei Shaoqin noticed his unease, smiled, and shooed him away:
"Is standing there torturing yourself necessary? You clearly can’t watch, so why stand here? Better to go wait off to the side."
Before Su Mu could say anything, Wen Han, who had just returned from answering a phone call, came over and grabbed her hand:
"Are you injured?"
Su Mu looked down at her hand, which had been scraped in the palm when she was pushed earlier. She didn’t think much of it, especially compared to Su Mu and Wei Shaoqin’s wounds; hers could be considered negligible.
"I’m fine."
Wen Han looked at her and, without considering whether she wanted to or not, pulled her to an adjacent treatment bed, reached for the medical supply rack to start preparing to clean Su Mu’s wound. But Su Mu didn’t hand her wound over to him. Watching Su Mu like this, Wen Han suddenly calmed down, put the alcohol swab back in its place, and said:
"I’ll call a nurse."
Wen Han had just left when Su Mu was yet to breathe a sigh of relief. Ji Nanfeng, who had been watching everything from not far away, walked over and started the conversation:
"Did something happen between you and Wen Han?"
Su Mu suddenly looked up at him.
Ji Nanfeng let out a light laugh:
"Your attitude toward Wen Han undoubtedly tells me that something awkward must have happened between you two. Otherwise, you wouldn’t look like this. But I’m not curious about that, what I am curious about is, does Shinian know?"
Su Mu didn’t respond, and Ji Nanfeng arched an eyebrow:
"It seems he doesn’t know. Do you want me to do the honors and tell him?"
Su Mu had heard long ago that Ji Nanfeng was always sharp in judging people, able to see what others couldn’t. She had never experienced it before, but today she had indeed met her match. She wanted to remain silent, but she knew she couldn’t; Ji Nanfeng never took sides. He was very clear about his identity, that of Fu Shinian’s brother.
"What do you want to say?"
"Are you trying to say that I don’t know what happened between you two?" Ji Nanfeng smiled and stepped closer to Su Mu, "You should be aware that there is nothing in Shen City that I want to know and can’t find out. As long as I desire, there is nothing I can’t do. No matter how secret the matter between you and Wen Han is, I can always find out something."
After saying that, Ji Nanfeng took out his mobile phone:
"Shinian is in New York now, it should be afternoon there, making a call seems quite appropriate."
After finishing his words, he didn’t give Su Mu a chance to rebut and dialed Fu Shinian’s number. Su Mu wanted to stop him, but it was too late and besides, she had no position to stop him.
The call was quickly answered, and Ji Nanfeng looked at Su Mu with a slight smile:
"Shinian, do you know where I am right now? And who I’m with?"
Su Mu didn’t know what Fu Shinian said on the other end of the phone, but at the next moment, Ji Nanfeng handed the phone to her. Su Mu glanced at Ji Nanfeng and took the phone without any hesitation, placing it by her ear and softly responding:
"Shinian."
Fu Shinian’s voice came through the phone from afar:
"Why are you with Ji Nanfeng now? What happened?"
Su Mu briefly told Fu Shinian about what she had encountered in Jiang Bei. After he listened, he didn’t react much, only asking her:
"Are you hurt?"
"No, I’m not."
"That’s good," Fu Shinian said. "Are you going to stay with Jiang Bei tonight?"
"Given her condition, I couldn’t possibly leave her."
Fu Shinian didn’t insist, "Since those people could find their way to Jiang Bei’s place, it indicates her place is no longer safe. It’s also not a good time to disturb the old lady by going back now. Take her to Bishui Yuntian later."
Su Mu felt warmth in her heart because of his words and softly agreed:
"Okay."
Both of them were silent on each end of the phone for a few seconds, then Fu Shinian spoke slowly:
"I’ll shorten my trip and try to come back tomorrow."
"There’s no need. There’s nothing urgent on my end. You don’t have to hurry back."
Fu Shinian didn’t say much:
"Go back early later on, now give the phone back to Ji Nanfeng."
Su Mu handed the mobile phone back to Ji Nanfeng. He received it with a light chuckle and turned to walk outside. Su Mu didn’t follow him, nor did she care what he would say to Fu Shinian. What was destined to happen couldn’t be avoided, and besides, she didn’t think Ji Nanfeng would tell Fu Shinian some unfounded speculations before he had investigated things clearly.
