Chapter 193: Chapter 193: Hard to Say Who Will Be Taken Care Of

The nurse came to tend to Su Mu’s wound, and by the time Jiang Bei had finished being treated, she approached Su Mu. Su Mu noticed that her face had grown significantly paler, and the wisps of hair by her forehead were damp with sweat. She immediately became anxious:

"What’s wrong with you? Did you get hurt somewhere?"

Jiang Bei shook her head, stopping Su Mu from getting up:

"You should get your wound treated first."

Seeing Jiang Bei’s demeanor, Su Mu lost all interest in her own wound. She got up to look for Qiao Yu and, when she pulled back the partition curtain, she saw the medical tray still out with the blood-soaked gauze on top. Su Mu looked at Qiao Yu:

"What happened to Jiang Bei?"

At this point, Qiao Yu couldn’t keep it secret anymore and spoke up:

"It’s nothing serious, just a cut on her back. It has been treated already."

"Is it serious?"

Qiao Yu was silent for a few seconds before he removed his rubber gloves and mask and then spoke softly:

"Not serious, but she probably won’t be able to wear backless dresses anymore. It will leave a scar."

When Su Mu turned around to check on Jiang Bei, she found Wen Han had already positioned himself in front of Jiang Bei, and the two were talking face to face. Su Mu stopped in her tracks, deciding not to go over.

Ji Nanfeng walked past Su Mu at that moment, glancing at the two not far ahead, and snorted lightly:

"Do you want to know what Shinian told me?"

Su Mu glanced at him but said nothing.

"Are you sure you don’t want to discuss what happened between you two? Maybe, for Jiang Bei’s sake, I could refrain from exaggerating when I tell Fu Shinian."

"You’ll say whatever you want, I can’t stop you."

Ji Nanfeng laughed lightly:

"Su Mu, if it’s something shameful, I advise you to come clean to Fu Shinian proactively, and stop clinging to him. Just leave him directly. Though he might be upset for a few days, it’s still better than being ridiculed for wearing a green hat."

Su Mu turned to look at him, and just as she was about to say something, Qiao Yu came out from behind the curtain. Seeing the two with their swords drawn, he couldn’t help but take a closer look:

"What’s going on with you two?"

Ji Nanfeng smiled slightly:

"Just saw something interesting and wanted to discuss it more with Su Mu."

Ji Nanfeng’s words were light, but no matter how Qiao Yu looked at Su Mu, she seemed ready for battle. He glanced at Ji Nanfeng:

"Don’t bully her. Otherwise, Shinian will have words for you when he gets back."

"Who knows who Shinian might tidy up."

Qiao Yu frowned:

"What do you mean by that?"

Ji Nanfeng didn’t want to continue the topic and instead asked Qiao Yu:

"How is Jiang Bei?"

"Nothing much," Qiao Yu said indifferently. "She has a cut on her back, but it’s not deep and doesn’t need stitches..."

Before Qiao Yu could finish, Ji Nanfeng frowned and stepped toward Jiang Bei. Qiao Yu shifted his gaze slightly towards Su Mu:

"Don’t take Ji Nanfeng’s words to heart, he’s just like that; speaks without thinking, but he’s not malicious."

Su Mu curled the corners of her lips slightly:

"I know."

She had no reason to blame Ji Nanfeng for being meddlesome. Every word he said, every action he took was from the perspective of considering Fu Shinian. Just for that, Su Mu couldn’t bring herself to blame him.

After a whole night of commotion, it was almost 4 a.m. when they left the hospital. Su Mu decided to take Jiang Bei back to Bishui Yuntian, Jiang Bei had no objections. Wei Shaoqin had sobered up, realizing it was inconvenient to follow them, and bluntly said:

"Don’t worry about me. I’ll just find a nearby hotel to book a room and sleep there."

Leaving Wei Shaoqin alone in the hotel made Su Mu uneasy, but seeing this, Wen Han spoke up:

"Don’t worry, I’ll take care of it."

Su Mu did not look at Wen Han, but after those words, she knew she didn’t need to worry about Wei Shaoqin anymore. She got into the car with Jiang Bei, as Qiao Yu had to stay for his shift and couldn’t leave. Ji Nanfeng drove the two back. Given their situation, it was impossible for Ji Nanfeng to just stand by.

It was very quiet inside the car on the way back, yet nobody felt the slightest bit sleepy. Su Mu held Jiang Bei’s hand the entire time, but it seemed like no matter what, she couldn’t make it warm. She could feel that after tonight’s events, Jiang Bei had finally come to terms with Rong Shen.

It’s just that the outcome was unpredictable.

Upon reaching Bishui Yuntian, Ji Nanfeng had no intention of leaving, and Jiang Bei looked at him helplessly:

"What’s the point of this?"

Ji Nanfeng ignored Jiang Bei’s dissatisfaction and directly addressed Su Mu:

"Bishui Yuntian probably doesn’t lack a room for me, right?"

"The guest rooms are all ready, just move in."

"Susu, how can you let him move in?"

Su Mu looked at Jiang Bei:

"After what happened tonight, how can we be sure that Rong Shen’s men haven’t followed us? You are injured now. If someone really does come, wouldn’t both of us be doomed? Ji Nanfeng means well; at least let’s get through tonight first."

Ji Nanfeng smiled slightly:

"Su Mu, are you speaking up for me because of what happened just now?"

"I am only speaking about the matter at hand."

Jiang Bei clearly sensed something was off:

"What happened just now?"

Su Mu chuckled, "It’s nothing, let’s go inside."

Their return naturally startled Auntie Lin. Seeing that they all looked exhausted, she didn’t know what to say at first but looked at Su Mu worriedly. Su Mu responded with a light smile and asked Jiang Bei and Ji Nanfeng:

"Do you guys want something to eat?"

Jiang Bei shook his head, "Can’t eat."

Ji Nanfeng, "Not hungry."

Su Mu nodded:

"Auntie Lin, you should go rest. We are going upstairs, and if there is anything, we will let you know."

"Ah," Auntie Lin replied, but she only returned to her room after watching them go upstairs.

Ji Nanfeng went to the guest room, while Su Mu took Jiang Bei back to the master bedroom. Given Jiang Bei’s condition, she really couldn’t leave him alone in a guest room. Jiang Bei sat on the sofa in the master bedroom, watching Su Mu bustling about, and couldn’t help laughing:

"Do you think Fu Shinian will change the bed if he finds out I’ve slept in it?"

Su Mu placed the blanket on the bed and glanced at Jiang Bei:

"I think he might just change the entire house."

Jiang Bei laughed heartily but winced again due to the pain from the wound on his back. Su Mu hurried over, "How are you feeling?"

Jiang Bei shook his head:

"It’s nothing, I just wasn’t careful just now."

"Do you have to be so stubborn? You got hurt and still don’t want me to know."

Jiang Bei looked at Su Mu with a faint smile:

"Actually, it’s nothing serious. When I used to train in Sanda, fractures and dislocations were common occurrences. This little injury is nothing compared to those."

"But Qiao Yu said there will be scars on your back."

"So what if there are?" Jiang Bei didn’t seem to mind: "I can’t see them anyway, and I don’t like to wear revealing clothes. But for the sake of my future boyfriend, I will still actively cooperate with applying ointment. Even if it doesn’t completely heal, it’s not a big deal."
