Chapter 155: Chapter 155: Your Relationship is Impressively Close

On the old lady’s birthday, Wei Shaoqin drove Su Mu away from the Glass House. For some reason, he always felt like he was sending off a daughter at her wedding. He thought that once Su Mu returned today, she would never come back, and this thought saddened him for a long time.

"You better not disappoint me," he said, "I am sending you out because I believe in you. If you don’t return today, I will go directly to the old residence and snatch you out. If I can snatch you from Bishui Yuntian, naturally, the old residence is not a problem either."

Su Mu smiled helplessly:

"Don’t worry, I’ve already gotten used to living here and don’t want to leave anytime soon."

Hearing this, Wei Shaoqin finally breathed a sigh of relief but was still not completely reassured:

"On this matter, Jiang Bei and I share the same view. We always feel it’s a conspiracy."

This kind of reasoning left Su Mu quite helpless, but she couldn’t explain anything. After all, they were not truly themselves; they could not empathize with her insignificance to Fu Shinian. Because of this insignificance, Su Mu felt that her coming and going were not even considered by Fu Shinian.

Perhaps, he didn’t want her to come back at all.

Before Su Mu got out of the car at the old residence, Wei Shaoqin warned her earnestly with many words. Su Mu listened intently, but at the same time, she felt that even her own mother had never instructed her for such a long time about anything.

This truly touched her yet made her feel helpless.

Wei Shaoqin hadn’t finished his words when a car slowly drove up behind him. Su Mu glanced at it and then looked away, but Wei Shaoqin’s gaze stayed on the car until it slowly stopped, and Fu Shinian stepped out of the back door.

His gaze didn’t linger on Su Mu for even a second, directing it straight to Wei Shaoqin with a faint smile:

"Why does Junior President Wei have time to come here today?"

The moment Wei Shaoqin saw Fu Shinian approaching, he instinctively pulled Su Mu behind him, as if a second’s delay would subject her to bullying by him, not realizing he eventually would have to leave, unable to forever shield Su Mu, nor knowing how much his act might displease Fu Shinian.

"I heard the scenery here is nice, so I came to see it."

"Is that so?" Fu Shinian’s voice grew considerably colder, "then you can enjoy it at your leisure. I’m busy, so I won’t accompany you."

Having said that, Fu Shinian turned to get in the car but paused for a moment as he opened the door and said, "Shall we go?"

He didn’t specify who he was talking to; it was vague and utterly devoid of warmth, but Su Mu knew he was speaking to her, asking if she wanted to go inside. It should be a joint visit, perhaps even to make their grandmother happy. Yet, before she could step forward, Wei Shaoqin spoke up first:

"Su Mu and I still have things to discuss."

Fu Shinian swept over Wei Shaoqin with a glance and finally settled on Su Mu behind him, chuckling softly:

"It’s truly remarkable how close Junior President Wei has gotten to Mrs. Fu in just a few days."

Though Wei Shaoqin was usually blunt, he could fully detect the mockery in his words. Already suppressing his anger, his fury was ready to erupt:

"What do you mean?"

"Do you two really not understand what I mean?"

"Fu Shinian—" Wei Shaoqin could stand it no longer and stepped forward, but just as he took a step, the wrist of the person behind him was grabbed. Turning back to look at Su Mu, he saw her gently shaking her head, signaling him not to mind it. Wei Shaoqin, unable to calm his anger, protested:

"Why are you holding me back? Did you hear what he just said?"

Su Mu smiled slightly:

"It’s getting late, you have to go to the office, go back."

"Su Mu..."

"Go back," Su Mu looked at him, giving him a reassuring smile, "I’m fine. I’ll call you when I go back, then you can come pick me up."

Wei Shaoqin suddenly calmed down and realized there was no use in taking up Su Mu’s cause while standing here, as they were ultimately going to go in together to celebrate the old lady’s birthday. Although he could shamelessly follow her inside, he couldn’t possibly stick by Su Mu’s side 24 hours a day.

He looked at her deeply:

"I’ll do as you say, but remember to call me if there’s anything."

Su Mu nodded:

"I know, be careful on the road."

Even though Wei Shaoqin was not reassured, he still left. Before leaving, however, he did not forget to give Fu Shinian a warning look, a look that, to Fu Shinian, was completely inconsequential.

After Wei Shaoqin left, Su Mu thought for a moment and still walked to Fu Shinian, although she walked around to the other side of the car and got in. The driver, Song Yi, couldn’t help but sweat a little, though he still greeted Su Mu calmly:

"Mrs. Fu."

Su Mu nodded lightly in response.

Fu Shinian got into the car, and the door slammed so loudly that even the air seemed to grow heavy with his displeasure. Song Yi just wanted to escape this vibe, so without a word, he started the engine and drove the car into the old mansion.

During the short drive, the inside of the car was so quiet that not even breathing sounds were heard. Su Mu continuously looked out the window, while Fu Shinian leaned back in the back seat with his eyes closed, resting, oblivious to what he was thinking. The two of them were separated by a distance for one person, existing as if in two different worlds, completely unrelated.

When the car stopped in front of the main building, Song Yi almost without saying a word got out of the car. He first got out to open the door for Fu Shinian, but when he saw that Shinian had already pushed the door open and gotten out, he did not continue and directly opened the door for Su Mu instead.

Su Mu got out of the car, softly thanking:

"Thank you."

In the back seat of the car, there were nutritional supplements for the old lady that Fu Shinian had bought. Although it was the old lady’s birthday, she lacked nothing, and the things she liked, Fu Shinian would buy and send over whenever he saw them. The old lady also was not picky about these things. It was just that Fu Shinian had noticed the old lady’s supplies were running low when he had returned a few days ago, so he brought some along.

Su Mu was also holding a bag, not branded, and it was unclear what was inside.

Song Yi, carrying the items, closed the door to the back seat and looked at Fu Shinian and Su Mu, one standing on the left side of the car, the other on the right, and felt utterly perplexed. He just didn’t understand why it was always him suffering, whether they were together or not.

Although he didn’t want to, he still steeled himself to remind:

"Mr. Fu, the old lady is watching from the bay window, it’s time to go in."

Upon hearing this, Su Mu turned around, and Fu Shinian also turned at the same time. It was as if they had coordinated this beforehand when they met at the front of the car. Then, Fu Shinian gently bent his arm, and after hesitating for a few seconds, Su Mu finally placed her hand on his arm and then they walked toward the building together.

Watching from behind, Song Yi was utterly dumbfounded. Were these two really teaming up to torment him alone?
