Chapter 155: 154, the most handsome in the universe!
What Titus Zane didn’t expect was that, instead of a call from the private investigator, he would receive a call from Beatrice Hargrave.
On the phone, Beatrice Hargrave was polite yet a bit mischievous, calling him "beautiful sister" over and over, asking Titus Zane if he had time today to grab a milk tea together.
Hearing the phrase "milk tea," Titus Zane couldn’t associate such a juvenile drink with the lively and active girl in his memory, but he agreed without hesitation, feeling like he had missed out on a lot of things over the past three years.
Like Mia Foster, like Sophie Foster...
The Western-style beverage shop was located near the university town in T City. When Titus Zane arrived, Beatrice Hargrave was already waiting there.
She wasn’t wearing sunglasses or a mask for disguise, nor was she dressed up deliberately—her sweater and shorts ensemble exuded a youthful vibe.
Watching her patiently sign autographs for fans who recognized her, Titus Zane finally understood that for a girl to become famous in such a short time, she must either have powerful connections or great charisma, and Beatrice Hargrave seemed to possess both.
After all, her father was a top-notch figure in the entertainment industry. To make his daughter famous, he would no doubt provide vigorous promotion and packaging.
"Little beauty, could you sign something for me?" Titus Zane asked with a smile, standing opposite Beatrice Hargrave.
Beatrice Hargrave looked up and seeing Titus Zane, she revealed a pleasantly surprised expression, "Beautiful sister, you’re here?"
She quickly signed her name on a fan’s backpack and apologetically said to the fans still waiting in line for autographs, "I’m sorry, I made plans with a friend, I’ll sign for you next time or you can leave your numbers with my assistant, and I’ll send the autographs to you after signing."
Stars with good manners also tend to have well-behaved fans. The fans waved goodbye to Beatrice Hargrave and left one by one.
As Titus Zane sat down opposite Beatrice Hargrave and hadn’t even put down his shoulder bag, Beatrice Hargrave eagerly spoke up, "Beautiful sister, I also ordered milk tea for you, konjac-flavored, it’s super tasty."
"But I prefer coffee." Titus Zane, slightly amused and helpless, placed his shoulder bag on the vacant seat next to him.
Beatrice Hargrave immediately became serious and said earnestly,
"Coffee isn’t good, drinking too much can roughen the skin. It’s better for girls to drink less."
Titus Zane couldn’t help but laugh softly, "I’m no longer a girl."
"Eh, you’re young and beautiful, of course you’re still a girl!" Beatrice Hargrave sweetly coaxed as she keenly observed Titus Zane’s actions. Titus Zane thought to himself that some people never lose their innate traits, no matter how much they mask themselves.
Just like Beatrice Hargrave sitting across from him, young and naïve, lacking Sophie’s worldly shrewdness, but her tone reminded him so much of how Sophie used to tease him for fun.
Perhaps everyone has their own compelling reasons to wear a mask and disguise themselves.
For instance, himself, despite having a name and fame, having to disguise with a new identity.
The waiter brought over two cups of milk tea and politely said "Enjoy," before turning to leave.
Looking at the steaming hot milk tea in front of him, Titus Zane bent the corners of his lips affectionately, "Alright then, I’ll listen to Sophie."
Beatrice Hargrave was taken aback, her clear eyes showing confusion without a hint of abnormality.
"Beautiful sister, who is Sophie? Why does everyone mistake me for her?"
Titus Zane’s eyes drooped, his expression somewhat melancholic, "She was my only friend many years ago. Unfortunately, I can’t contact her anymore."
"Is that so? You could put out a missing person notice, couldn’t you?" Beatrice Hargrave’s eyes widened in puzzlement as she looked at Titus Zane. Suddenly, an idea struck her, her clear eyes brightened, showing excitement.
"How about during my next interview, I help you make an appeal and ask my fans to help find her?"
"No need," Titus Zane’s expression was indifferent, his gaze fixed on the tabletop, lips slightly curved, "If she still considers me a friend, I believe she will reach out to me on her own."
Beatrice Hargrave clenched her hand on the table a little tighter and nodded definitively, joining in the firmness of his assurance.
"Mhm, if she knows that beautiful sister is back, she will definitely contact you!"
"Really?" Titus Zane lifted his gaze, the smile at the corner of his mouth taking on deep significance.
Children will always be children, no matter how good they are at pretending, they’ll eventually give themselves away.
Having only met Beatrice Hargrave twice, how could she know he had just "returned"?
"Yep, yep," Beatrice Hargrave nodded again, "Sister is so pretty, she must also be a very nice person, otherwise, I wouldn’t have felt a connection at first sight."
"Me too."
He hadn’t chatted with Beatrice Hargrave for long before his assistant urged him to leave.
Before leaving, Beatrice Hargrave left her number with Titus Zane, repeatedly emphasizing her invitation to a charity event held in T city the night after the next, hoping Titus Zane would attend as well.
Not wanting to disappoint her, Titus Zane agreed.
That evening, Titus Zane received a call from an unfamiliar man.
It was Sister Hua’s friend Jon, saying he would fly to T city early in the morning and asking Titus Zane to pick him up from the airport, to also discuss some matters.
At 2 a.m., after everyone else on the flight from H city had departed, Titus Zane finally saw the so-called Jon.
A brown leather jacket, jeans, pointy leather shoes, and a duckbill cap on his head.
It was hard to define the style of the attire; perhaps private detectives all like to stand out from the crowd.
What rendered Titus Zane speechless was that while others holding placards were there to pick someone up, this Jon actually held up his own placard as he walked out, as if afraid others wouldn’t know he was Jon.
Approaching Titus Zane, he took the initiative and asked, "Carry?"
Perhaps Westerners naturally come with a sense of humor, so when Jon spoke, his lips curled into a broad smile.
"You recognize me?"
Titus Zane wasn’t distrusting this handsome foreign man in front of him, only curious, as he wasn’t the only one there to meet someone, plus he was standing inside the airport terminal.
"I’ve seen your photo," Jon spoke, in fluent Chinese, "but you are sexier in person than in your pictures."
Having encountered plenty of handsome men, yet it was quite unheard of for someone to skip the prettiness and compliment her on being sexy.
Thus, he cocked his head, raised an eyebrow and said, "You’re also much more handsome than I had imagined."
"Is that so?" Jon seemed to enjoy interacting with others, widening his blue eyes curiously and asked, "How did you imagine me?"
Looking at the earnest curiosity of the handsome foreigner, Titus Zane suddenly felt like teasing him, one hand stroking his chin as if thinking seriously with a slight frown.
"Hmm... I thought you would be... "
"Be what?" Jon hastily interjected before Titus Zane could finish.
"Older, thin, with a face full of beard, and perhaps holding a pipe..."
"Hey! You’re talking about Holmes!" Jon interrupted before Titus Zane could finish, his fair face flushing slightly with urgency.
"I’m not him! I’m younger than he is, more handsome! I’m the most handsome in the universe!"
Titus Zane was taken aback; it seems this handsome foreigner really knows his way around China, even aware of ’the most handsome in the universe.’
