Chapter 154: 153, General’s House, specialized in cultivating beautiful women (2000+)
,"Does Nathan know you’re back?" Nicholas Croft asked instead of answering.
"We’ve met already." Titus Zane replied indifferently, the surprise on Nicholas Croft’s face intensified.
"Met? When?" How come he never told me?
"About a week ago." Titus Zane told the truth.
Nicholas Croft...
Astonished and helpless, wasn’t it the week before in City F?
Shaking his head helplessly, he sighed with a smile, "This kid, he didn’t even tell me."
After speaking, he looked at Titus Zane with eager eyes.
"You are not leaving this time, are you?"
"Just here to handle some matters, I’ll leave once they are done."
"What, does Nathan know about this?" Nicholas Croft’s reaction was unexpectedly surprising, even for a man as calm and steady as him, he seemed quite startled now.
Just as Titus Zane was about to speak, the girl who had been watching their conversation by Nicholas Croft’s side spoke up first. She gave him a look and then turned to Nicholas Croft.
"Uncle Nicholas, are you always this enthusiastic when you meet a beautiful lady? Your girlfriend might get jealous."
"She is a friend of my brother’s friend." Nicholas Croft explained seriously, clearly trying to clarify the relationship.
"Oh, I see," the girl said with a smile and nodded, her clear eyes looking at Titus Zane, "But this lady is so beautiful, even if she’s just a friend of your brother’s friend, and you being so enthusiastic, your girlfriend would be upset if she knew."
The girl spoke considerately on behalf of her sister, indicating a special relationship between Nicholas Croft and her sister. Titus Zane was a bit perplexed, obviously it was Sophie Foster, but looking at her felt like looking at a stranger. Could it be, did she no longer recognize someone just because they’ve put on some weight?
With a smile, Titus Zane began to speak.
"Sophie, I’m sister Zane, don’t you recognize me anymore?"
The girl sighed in resignation, looked at Nicholas Croft again, "Uncle Nicholas, who exactly is Sophie Foster, why does everyone say I am her?"
The girl’s words and expression conveyed deep resignation.
Nicholas Croft’s handsome face no longer displayed the abundance of expressions from before, his eyes slightly downturned, showing some sense of loss.
"Sophie is an old friend of uncle," he explained simply, his voice carrying a sense of powerlessness.
"What, she’s not Sophie?" Titus Zane looked puzzled.
"No," Nicholas Croft clarified, "she is the youngest daughter of the entertainment tycoon, Beatrice Hargrave."
Then it dawned on Titus Zane, the girl who gave him an autograph at the airport was the one right in front of him.
At the airport, upon first seeing her, he thought she was Sophie Foster. Now standing before him, except for the attire, personality and the voice when she spoke, her physique and appearance were exactly like Sophie’s, even their height was the same.
Titus Zane couldn’t believe there could be two people so identical in the world, even twins have minor differences.
Although unclear about what had happened over these three years, but Titus Zane knew, if this girl in front of him was Sophie Foster, she must have her own reasons.
Perhaps because he experienced it personally, Titus Zane did not want people in love to miss each other like he and Logan Ray did.
Thus playfully tilting his head, he said to Beatrice Hargrave, "Remember? At the airport, you gave me an autograph."
With big blinking eyes, Beatrice Hargrave appeared to be trying hard to recall, puzzled, she asked Titus Zane, "Are you one of my fans?"
Titus Zane laughed, giving Beatrice Hargrave a meaningful gaze, his smile carrying a hint of mystery, "Yes, I am not only your fan, but also a die-hard fan of little Sophie!"
"Ah? Hehe, really?" Beatrice Hargrave didn’t expect him to say that, and laughed awkwardly to ease her embarrassment.
"Alright, I must be going now."
Realizing the girl’s discomfort, Titus Zane decided to take his leave, but just before leaving, he suddenly remembered something, opened the zipper of his bag, and shoved a business card into Beatrice Hargrave’s hand.
"Take this, it’s my card. When you’re bored you can hang out with me," he squeezed her gaze again before leaving, smiling, "Give me a call, there’s an attraction among beautiful women."
Watching Titus Zane’s retreating figure, Beatrice Hargrave looked at the business card that was forcibly given to her and laughed, saying, "Uncle Nicholas, your brother’s friend is really enthusiastic."
Nicholas Croft smiled and said, "She wasn’t like this before."
"What was she like?" Seemingly agreeing with Titus Zane’s words about the attraction between beautiful women, no sooner had Nicholas Croft mentioned it than Beatrice Hargrave curiously asked.
Looking at Beatrice Hargrave’s curious and clear gaze, Nicholas Croft’s eyes drifted slightly.
Once, Sophie Foster liked to look at him just like that.
He narrowed his dark eyes, his gaze distant.
"She used to be cold and aloof, carrying an air of unworldliness."
"Really? But I think she seems nice," Beatrice Hargrave disagreed, then curiously asked again.
"What’s her name?" After saying this, she suddenly remembered the business card that Titus Zane had given her, lowered her gaze to look at the card, frowning slightly, "Carry? Why would a person from Eldoria have a foreign name?" Beatrice muttered to herself as Nicholas Croft snapped back to reality.
"What did you say her name was?"
"Carry!" Beatrice Hargrave raised the business card to Nicholas Croft’s face, "It’s clearly written right here, Carry, business manager at J&M company."
"Let me see that." Nicholas Croft snatched the business card from Beatrice Hargrave’s hand, remembering that J&M, a director his friend mentioned who was involved in company investments, was American, and the film they talked about was a corporate warfare subject.
So that director accidentally mentioned that in America, there’s this kind of professional organization which trains attractive women to get close to corporate executives, intended to steal business secrets...
That director had mentioned the name of the organization, which seemed to be... Jiangmen.
Nicholas Croft’s expression turned serious, his eyes narrowing as if deep in thought.
"What’s wrong, Uncle Nicholas? Is there something wrong with this card?" Beatrice Hargrave asked perplexedly, to which Nicholas Croft came back to his senses, curved his lips slightly, and said, "You’re just starting out; it’s better to be cautious, don’t make friends with strangers carelessly, it could affect your future."
After speaking, he handed the card to his assistant standing behind him; the assistant understood and destroyed the card by throwing it into a nearby trash can.
"Is that so?"
Beatrice Hargrave widened her eyes in confusion, a flicker of emotion crossing her lips, "But didn’t you just say she’s your brother’s friend? How can she be a stranger?"
"Three years have passed, who knows if we’ve changed?"
Nicholas Croft curved his lips, the arc intriguing, and casually draped his arm around Beatrice Hargrave’s back, walking forward together.
Looking at Titus Zane now, he seems to have already joined that organization, which is said to shelter some desperate women.
"Oh, I see."
