Chapter 249: Chapter 249: Kane And Stephanie’s Fight

Ashton knew he couldn’t change Daniel’s mind, so he dropped the idea. Instead, he told his men to dig into Ruby’s recent activities.

He wanted to know who she had met and what she had been up to. But Ruby had been careful, and they didn’t have much time. So far, they had only uncovered a few small details about what she had been doing lately.

Meanwhile, in a hotel’s presidential suite, Kane dropped to his knees in front of Stephanie.

"My queen, I was wrong. I made a huge mistake."

"It’s too late to admit your mistake now. Give me the bag," Stephanie said, gripping it tightly and refusing to let go.

"No! This is the new laptop Daddy gave me. I’m not handing it over!" Kane shouted, pulling the other side of the bag.

The moment Stephanie heard him say "Daddy," her whole body stiffened.

She remembered all the awful things Kane had told her about that man back in Carcosa.

She hadn’t forgotten how much their mom had suffered because of him.

That’s why she hated him so much. She never wanted anything to do with him.

Now Kane had accepted a gift from him.

He even kept calling him "Daddy."

That was betrayal in her eyes.

Furious, Stephanie raised her fists and started throwing punches.

"Why are you hitting me?" Kane cried, trying to shield the bag while dodging her blows.

"How could you betray Mommy? I’m going to teach you a lesson for her!" Stephanie yelled.

She pressed a button on her wrist.

A clear cloak appeared and wrapped around her, making her vanish.

Kane had wanted that invisibility cloak for a long time. Seeing Stephanie use it made him jealous.

Before he could even picture himself wearing it, a slap landed on his forehead.

Then a hit came to his back. Followed by another on his leg.

Kane cried out in pain. He curled up into a ball like a porcupine.

"I give up! Please stop hitting me!" he shouted.

"This is your punishment! How dare you take that scumbag dad’s gift!" Stephanie was annoyed.

Before she could strike again, Kane quickly threw some white powder at her.

When it touched her invisibility cloak, she became visible again.

"Got you! You can’t dodge my attack now!" Kane said, charging toward her.

However, Stephanie hit another button on her wrist. A long white thread shot up and pulled her toward the ceiling like a superhero.

Right before the cloak fully lost its effect, she managed to sprinkle some powder on Kane too.

But this wasn’t just normal powder. It made your whole body itch like crazy. The kind of itch that made you roll on the floor, crying and scratching nonstop until you couldn’t take it anymore.

But Kane was quick. Right before the powder touched him, he rolled across the floor and activated a cool-looking armor.

Stephanie’s attack didn’t work on him.

The two bodyguards secretly watching the kids weren’t so lucky.

The wind blew the powder into their faces, and soon, they were scratching like mad.

The itching was so bad, they felt like tearing their skin off.

What kind of little monsters were the Wilson kids? They were terrifying!

"Kane, look what I got!" Stephanie was swinging his toy laptop in the air like she was ready to smash it at any moment.

Kane jumped up in panic.

"My queen, please! Don’t break it!"

"Then promise me first," she said. "Stop calling that man Daddy. And don’t act so close to him again!"

"But Mommy loves Daddy too."

"That’s not true. Mommy’s just pretending so you won’t get upset. Kane, you’re such a fool. All you do is cause problems for her. Did you forget why she came back here?"

Stephanie had overheard everything. She knew Mommy returned to take revenge on that man.

There was no way Mommy would fall for someone she wanted to take revenge!

"I’m not lying. If you don’t believe me, just go see him yourself! You’ll like Daddy too. He’s actually really kind."

"I’m not like you. I know how to think for myself. You just listen to anyone who treats you a little nicely."

"Then why don’t you see Daddy for yourself?"

"Fine, let’s go!"

Stephanie didn’t want to admit it, but she was actually curious about that man.

"I’ll call Uncle Ashton to pick us up." Kane’s face lit up. He was excited that his sister finally agreed to meet their dad.

As long as Stephanie liked Daddy the way he liked Daniel, Kane wouldn’t have to worry about his laptop getting stolen or broken again.

"Who’s Uncle Ashton?" Stephanie asked, glaring at her brother.

"He’s Daddy’s assistant. Let me tell you, Daddy’s amazing. He’s the most powerful person in Easthan."

"Are you dumb? I just want to watch him from a distance. If I meet him now, he’ll just pretend to be nice in front of me."

Stephanie grabbed Kane’s toy phone and canceled the call before it could go through.

She then used the phone’s tracking system and quickly found out where Daddy was.

She even took this chance to change Daddy’s contact name to "Unforgivable Scumbag Daddy."

"Mommy is with Daddy right now! They must be on a date!" Kane said excitedly when he saw the two red dots on the screen getting closer.

Stephanie rolled her eyes. She wasn’t convinced. She needed to see for herself if Mommy had really fallen for that man. If it was true, she’d snap her out of it. There was no way she’d let her mom get tricked by a jerk.

The two of them walked out of the hotel, hand in hand. They got into a taxi although it was actually being driven by their bodyguards, now dressed casually so no one would notice.

They had finally agreed to go see Mr. Wilson. Their fight hadn’t lasted long, but five bodyguards had already suffered because of it. If it went on any longer, no one could imagine how many more people would get pulled into the mess.

"Little ones, are you really going to the Rotating Restaurant? Do you even have any cash with you?" one of the bodyguards asked politely.

Kane was focused on his computer and didn’t even look up. "We have cash. A lot, actually," he muttered.

Stephanie shoved a chestnut into his mouth and quickly answered, "Someone will meet us there. It’s all been arranged."

"Oh, that’s good then," the bodyguard said, rubbing his nose. I’m not trying to be mean. I just don’t want them to get rejected if they don’t have money.

By the time they got to the entrance of Phoenix International, Stephanie grabbed Kane’s hand and started running.

She didn’t want anyone to realize that no one was actually waiting for them there.
