Mr. CEO's Ex-Wife: A Cunning Comeback
Chapter 248: Smearing Chantelle’s Name

Chapter 248: Chapter 248: Smearing Chantelle’s Name

"It’s basically a playground for mistresses and gold diggers."

"Maybe Kate was framed by Chantelle, too."

"Right after something terrible happened to Kate, Chantelle suddenly became Mrs. Wilson again. There’s no way that’s just a coincidence."

"That’s true. Kate used to be such a sweet and gentle girl. How did her image change overnight?"

"If what you’re saying is real, then this world is just too cruel."

Chantelle smirked as she read the comments.

People didn’t care if the news was real or fake. They just wanted something scandalous to talk about. As long as it fed their fantasies or helped them escape their own problems, they didn’t mind tearing someone else down.

She didn’t usually bother with these kinds of petty remarks, but watching Camille fall into her trap bit by bit brought her some satisfaction.

"How are the Law family reacting to all these slanderous rumors?"

"They just found out about these slanderous rumors, and they’re furious. They’ll take action soon."

"Then we should reveal Ms. Law’s identity before they do."

Ms. Law was someone special and handpicked by Chantelle. She had a strong reputation and demure character. She wasn’t the type to chase fame or attention. Her focus was on academic work, and she rarely appeared in socialite events.

That’s also why Camille, despite being part of a powerful family, had no idea who Nadine really was.

"Ms. Chantelle, I heard Ms. Law is really smart. If she finds out we’re using her to get back at Camille, won’t she be upset?"

"So what if she’s angry? Even scientists need to make a living. Ms. Law has been short on funding lately, and we’re offering her exactly what she needs. Instead of being mad, she’ll be glad we stepped in to help."

Nadine was struggling to fund her research. The Law family told her they’d only support her if she agreed to an arranged marriage. But Nadine was stubborn. She refused to give in and decided to raise the money on her own.

That’s when Chantelle came in and gave her a way out.

She was sure someone as smart as Nadine wouldn’t turn down an offer like that.

Soon after, Nadine’s identity was revealed online. Her background was clean and impressive.

The news spread quickly and caused a huge buzz in the gossip circles.

"What a beauty! She looks like an angel sent from above!"

"She’s unbelievably gorgeous. And she graduated from Hertlusian University at seventeen? Finished her PhD by twenty-two?"

"No way... Her last name is Law. Is she from that Law family? The one with roots going back to the founders of the nation?"

"Wait a second, didn’t she develop last year’s flu vaccine?"

"I’m shocked. She even donated all the money she earned from her patent!"

"Her mountain photography helped boost the economy in poor areas."

"She wrote a book about a struggling village. People say the book she wrote changed lives. Some of the villagers can now afford decent cars."

"She adopted two orphans from that village when she was just twenty."

"Why would a girl like her need any sugar daddies? If anything, she could be mine!"

"Other than her family name, how could Camille ever compare to Nadine?"

"Guys, look! Big news just dropped. The people who wrote those nasty posts were actually hired by Camille."

"This is huge! We shouldn’t waste our time on women like her. We need to protect someone as talented as Nadine."

"Camille finally met her match. She’s always wanted to control everything from the shadows. Since the Charity Association played fair, she used ghostwriters to twist public opinion. That’s just evil."

"Didn’t she think her actions could destroy someone’s life? The internet is brutal, and cyberbullying is real."

"Exactly. I saw tons of people online trying to dig up dirt on Ms. Law because of that."

"Camille finally showed her true face. She thinks money can buy everything. It’s disgusting!"

"She deserves to rot!"

The internet changed fast. Just thirty minutes ago, they were bashing Nadine.

Now, everyone was praising her.

Camille, once seen as a role model, had fallen from grace.

The Law family wasn’t going to sit back and let their daughter get dragged through the mud.

Not long after, all of Rowan’s upcoming projects across the country were suddenly shut down.

Chantelle could already picture the siblings’ fuming reactions. She couldn’t wait to see it happen.

"Sir, Mrs. Wilson is really something. She turned things around in just thirty minutes," Ashton said, amazed.

When he first heard that Chantelle’s Charity Association was under attack, he wanted to help.

However, Daniel stopped him. He told Ashton to stay out of it and just watch.

Chantelle would know exactly what to do.

Luckily, Ashton listened. If he had intervened, he might’ve made things worse.

In the end, Daniel was the one who understood Chantelle best.

Once everything was cleared, Daniel closed his laptop with a satisfied smile.

Then his expression turned cold. "We’re going to Phoenix International now."

"Sir, I’ll send someone to bring Ruby from the restaurant. There’s no need for you to get involved personally this time," Ashton said.

After Roman exposed Ruby as the one behind the plot against Chantelle, Ashton immediately had people track her down. But Ruby wasn’t easy to find. It felt like someone was protecting her. It took a lot of digging just to get her phone number.

Ruby then asked for a meeting at the Rotating Restaurant in Phoenix International. She said she had information about the person who betrayed the Wilson family six years ago.

It was clearly a setup but Mr. Wilson still agreed to go.

"No pain, no gain." Daniel made a promise to take down anyone who tried to hurt Chantelle. He wasn’t going to let Ruby get away this time.

"We pushed her off a cliff once, and she still managed to survive. But now, Roman’s no longer helping her, and she hasn’t met up with James either. So how is she living in a mansion and driving a luxury car?"

"Sir, I think Joseph is behind all this. That meeting she set up with you today feels like a trap."

"I know. That’s why I won’t sit back and wait. I’d rather strike first."

Daniel wasn’t worried about whoever was helping Ruby. Even if it was Joseph, he wasn’t afraid.
