Chapter 245: Chapter 245: An Online Buzz

Soon after, the Charity Association made the announcement, and Nadine Law being chosen as the new Ambassador for Philanthropy exploded online.

The new name quickly became the center of attention. Everyone was talking about her, questioning if she was really fit to be the Ambassador for Philanthropy.

But no one could find much about her. Her background was a mystery.

At the same time, Camille was fuming when she found out about Nadine, who appeared out of nowhere.

Her brother had already taken action, so she was sure she’d win back the title of Ambassador for Philanthropy.

Even if Chantelle hated her, she’d have no choice but to keep her mouth shut.

Camille even smiled at the thought.

But now, the title that should’ve been hers was taken by some unknown girl just like how Chantelle once came out of nowhere from the countryside and took everything.

How could Camille swallow this kind of humiliation?

"Ms. Nelsen, Chantelle really crossed the line this time. She’s clearly targeting you. That’s why she picked just anyone to be the Ambassador for Philanthropy!" Anthony said, adding fuel to the fire.

Camille was already furious. So when Anthony suggested hiring ghostwriters to flood the internet with hate toward Nadine and Chantelle, she didn’t even hesitate to approve it.

Once people realize Nadine isn’t fit for the title the spotlight will come back to me, she thought.

Soon, headlines like: "Nadine’s Messy Personal Life."

"Nadine’s Secret Sugar Daddy," and "Chantelle and Nadine’s Shady Backers" started trending everywhere.

People who didn’t know the truth were having a field day with the drama. They flooded the internet with hateful and nasty comments, bashing both Nadine and Chantelle.

At the Western Hill Villa, Chantelle checked the online buzz and saw that everything was going just as she expected.

Satisfied, she got ready to pick up Stephanie, humming softly to herself. Her mood was light and cheerful.

However, the moment she opened the door, she came face to face with Daniel, who had been missing the whole day.

His face was cold and gloomy.

They stared at each other for a while. Chantelle noticed Daniel wasn’t saying anything, so she turned and walked away, feeling a little irritated.

She had only taken a few steps when Daniel suddenly pulled her into his arms. Then he kissed her hard.

It was rough and intense. Daniel didn’t hold back. He kissed her like he owned her, squeezing her tightly.

Chantelle couldn’t breathe. She tried to push him away but failed. So, she bit his tongue.

Even when their mouths started to taste like blood, Daniel didn’t stop.

Chantelle felt that something was wrong with him, so she slowly stopped fighting back. Oddly, she had calmed down, and she even started to kiss him back.

Daniel noticed the change and began to kiss her more gently, getting lost in the moment.

When she felt that he wasn’t agitated any more, Chantelle pulled away and leaned on his shoulder, breathing heavily.

Daniel finally came to his senses. He looked at Chantelle and saw the red marks on her neck and her messy clothes. His heart started racing, and heat rushed through him.

Without thinking, he picked her up.

"Daniel, are you out of your mind?" Chantelle struggled to get down.

However, Daniel moved faster. He placed her on the bed and hovered over her. Just as he looked into her eyes, he noticed how tense and scared she was. It was like a bucket of cold water had hit him. His mind cleared up right away.

"Chantelle..." he whispered in an affectionate tone.

"What’s wrong with you?" Chantelle pushed him away and sat up.

Daniel was not the type to act like this without a reason. Something must have triggered him.

But he didn’t want to bring up that man. A part of him felt that if Chantelle didn’t mention it, he could just act like the man wasn’t real.

"I’m fine," he said.

"You’ve been avoiding me since yesterday. Are you really okay?" Chantelle asked.

She told herself it wasn’t out of concern. She just didn’t want him to lose control again.

Daniel lowered his head and he looked downcast.

He usually had so much energy, but now he seemed tired and sad.

"Chantelle, I didn’t avoid you. Philip told me to stay away for a while so I wouldn’t upset you."

"If that was the exact reason, then you better disappear from my life forever. I won’t be angry anymore if that happens." Chantelle didn’t expect that such a lame reason would be the answer to what had been bothering her the whole day.

She didn’t know what to say.

"Chantelle, do you really want me out of your life?" Daniel suddenly sat up and looked at her with a serious face.

Her heart skipped a beat. She hadn’t meant it but he seemed to take it seriously.

"Chantelle, I swear I’ll treat you better than anyone else ever could." Daniel held her hands tightly like he was making a promise.

Chantelle’s face turned red.

"Chantelle, I’ll make you forget the past and everyone in it. Trust me, I can give you happiness," Daniel said in a pleading tone as he confessed.

The air in the room felt tense.

They stared into each other’s eyes and their hearts kept pounding harder.

Daniel took a deep breath and moved closer to Chantelle. Just as their lips were about to touch, the phone rang with a strange ring tone, interrupting the moment.

"It’s me, your beloved son! Answer now! I’m your favorite baby!"

Daniel picked up the call with an obviously stern look on his face.

Kane’s voice came loudly through the speaker. "Daddy, you forgot about me after just one day! I’m really sad. I want to run away!"

Daniel sighed. "I’m sorry, Kane. I’ll come get you right now. Just stay where you are."

Kane pouted. "You made a mistake, Daddy. You need to be punished. If you don’t find me in twenty minutes, I’m going back to—"

"You’re not going back to Carcosa!" Daniel cut in sharply.

Kane flinched on the other end. "I was just going to say... I want to go back to the Western Hill Villa."

"Kane, be a good boy. I’ll come to get you now," Daniel persuaded him softly after realizing he yelled at his son.

"Okay." Kane nodded, but he was still a little shaken by Daniel’s harsh tone earlier. He looked upset as he ended the call.

Right after, he sent a quick message to his mommy.

"Mommy, help! Something’s wrong with Daddy!"
