Mr. CEO's Ex-Wife: A Cunning Comeback -
Chapter 237: Faking Sickness
Chapter 237: Chapter 237: Faking Sickness
"Look here, Kane." Chantelle suddenly lifted the camera and snapped a selfie of the three of them.
Even though Kane had been upset a while ago, he smiled brightly at the camera.
Kane just wanted to look good in the photos.
The prints came out fast, but before Chantelle could even glance at them, Daniel snatched them and carefully slipped them into his wallet.
"Stop that, Mr. Wilson. If someone sees them, I’ll be in big trouble," Chantelle said with a warning tone.
"Anyone who dares mess with my wife must be tired of living," Daniel said as he tucked the photos into his wallet like they were treasure.
"What century are you from, Daddy? Who still keeps photos like that?" Kane asked, blinking his big eyes in confusion.
"I really like them," Daniel said seriously after his son teased him.
"Daddy, just admit you’re already old-fashioned. I won’t laugh at you," Kane said as he stood on his tiptoes and patted Daniel’s shoulder.
Then he showed Daniel his little phone. It was filled with photos of Chantelle and the kids over the past five years.
Daniel hadn’t been there when the kids were born or while they were growing up.
He couldn’t imagine how Chantelle had raised them all alone overseas.
She must’ve gone through so much to raise such amazing kids and still stand proud beside him.
"The teacher’s calling you, Kane."
Chantelle quickly sent Kane off when she noticed Daniel’s eyes turning red. Something in him had clearly shifted.
Chantelle didn’t want Daniel to know about her past—at least, not now.
"Daddy, I want you to love Mommy as much as you can to make up for the last five years," Kane said seriously, like a little adult, before heading off.
"Chantelle, I’m sorry..." Daniel lifted his head and his eyes were full of regret as he looked at her.
"You don’t need to apologize," Chantelle replied in a small voice. "They’re my children, and I raised them because I wanted to. You don’t owe us anything for that."
Like the other parents, she stood outside the classroom, watching Kane. In just a few minutes, the Little Devil had already made a bunch of friends and become the center of attention.
"We’ll raise our children together."
Daniel was filled with regret. He couldn’t stop thinking about how hard it must’ve been for Chantelle overseas all those years. It hurt even more knowing Camille had upset her. He wanted to tear Camille apart. He even felt like cutting open his chest just to prove how sorry he was.
But Chantelle didn’t want to argue. She turned to walk away.
Daniel gently grabbed her shoulder and leaned toward her, suddenly looking weak and pitiful even though he’d just been so full of determination.
"Faking being sick is a boring drama, Daniel. You really need to change your trick," she said flatly.
"My wife is always so kind and soft-hearted," he replied with a silly grin.
"If I step out of line, you can’t just tie me down."
Chantelle pushed his head away coldly, but Daniel held onto her shoulder and rested his lips in the crook of her neck.
"All I want is you. This isn’t about right or wrong," he murmured.
Behind the flowerbed of the kindergarten, a pair of furious eyes watched them carefully as they stood closely together.
A sharp, grating sound came from the edge of the flowerbed.
With a loud "ka-cha," nails dug into the wood and suddenly ripped out.
Camille stomped in pain and clutched her hand. Her eyes were filled with anger.
You witch. You stole Daniel from me and humiliated me. I’ll make you pay for this!
Camille’s eyes shifted to Kane, who was happily chatting with his teacher.
But before she could do anything, two security guards came over and pinned her hands to the flower bed. In moments, her face was smeared with dirt.
Ms. Nelsen, spoiled and pampered all her life, had never been so humiliated. She started screaming, "Let me go! Do you even know who I am?"
"We don’t know who you are, but you’re clearly not a parent here. Since you’re sneaking around, we suspect you might be a danger to the children."
The guard’s voice was loud, and soon, all the nearby parents heard what was going on.
Some parents overheard talk about someone possibly harming the children and demanded the kindergarten report it to the police.
Most of the kids came from wealthy families, and their parents didn’t want to take any risks.
"Isn’t this supposed to be the safest kindergarten in the city? How did someone even get in?"
"It’s only the first day, and our kids are already facing danger. Maybe this school isn’t worth it after all!"
"Take her to the police station now. Who knows what she’s up to? What if she’s dangerous?" someone said.
The other parents started whispering to each other too.
"What? Dangerous? I’m Ms. Nelsen from the Nelsen family! How dare you call me that? Do you know I can shut this kindergarten down?" Camille shouted.
She was afraid of ruining her image, so she quickly told everyone who she was, hoping her family name would clear her name.
The bodyguards only recognized the Daniel family in Easthan, so they thought Camille was just pretending. But the wealthy parents knew the Nelsen family. It was one of the richest families in Easthan.
After hearing Camille’s name, they all went silent.
"But I heard Ms. Nelsen is young, beautiful, and classy. She’s supposed to be talented in literature, music, and painting. But look at her now. I think she’s just pretending," someone said.
"I’m not pretending! Let go of me! Daniel, help me!" Camille yelled when she saw Daniel behind the crowd.
Daniel quickly walked over, holding Chantelle’s hand.
But Chantelle tried to pull away. She turned to Daniel and gave him a sharp look.
Where is he taking me?
"Daniel, tell them to let me go," Camille whined as he walked up.
Tears quickly filled her eyes.
Daniel’s face turned cold. "Ms. Nelsen, watch yourself. If you call my name again and upset my wife, don’t blame me for what happens next," he hastily warned her.
But the moment he turned to Chantelle, his whole expression softened.
"Did I do well?" he asked with a playful wink.
Chantelle smirked. Just like that, all her anger seemed to fade.
Hearing Daniel’s statement, the crowd was shocked. The women, in particular, looked angry after hearing what Camille said.
To them, she was clearly the other woman now, and they couldn’t accept that.
"Daniel, we’ve been engaged since we were young. You left me because of Chantelle! She slept with you and forced you to marry her. Didn’t you hate her back then? You wouldn’t even speak to her. You worked late every day so you didn’t have to see her face. And when you thought she killed Old Mr. Wilson, you didn’t even hesitate to—"
