Chapter 227: How About We Play A Game?

Chapter 227: Chapter 227: How About We Play A Game?

Chantelle snapped out of her thoughts as Thea dragged her toward the second floor.

Thea called a group of handsome male staff into a VIP room. They all lined up in front of Chantelle.

They looked stunning and confident Chantelle was taken aback when she saw them.

"U-Um, Thea, I think I’m fine just drinking at the bar," she said, wanting to run away immediately.

However, Thea pulled her back to her seat. "Chantie, you’re already here, so just enjoy! How about we play a game?"

"Y-Yes?"

Chantelle was confused.

Before she could ask Thea what she meant, Thea spoke up in front of everyone.

"Gentlemen, what would you do if a woman fell for you, but you were already married?"

"Is the woman pretty or not?" one of them asked.

"I have the same question too. Looks are all that matter to me."

"As long as my wife doesn’t know about it, I’ll cheat all I want!"

"If the pretty woman wants to marry me, I’d divorce my wife right away!"

Chantelle wasn’t in the mood for games, but Thea’s question caught her attention.

What kind of men are these?

They’re shameless!

"All of you, shut up!" Chantelle snapped.

She knew these men were hired to entertain, but their answers still made her angry.

"Why are you so mad, Missy?"

"Don’t tell us your husband cheated on you? You’re pretty so it doesn’t make sense at all!"

"Maybe it’s time for a change, Missy."

"Aren’t you tired of seeing the same man every day?"

"S-So you all think it’s normal for men to cheat?" Chantelle asked, feeling overwhelmed.

"Of course it’s normal! If a man doesn’t cheat, that’s what’s weird. He’s probably broke or useless!" one of them laughed.

They thought Chantelle was enjoying the chat, so they kept talking.

"Rubbish! Cheating is normal? If my husband ever cheats, I’ll castrate him immediately!" Thea shouted.

Chantelle couldn’t take their nonsense talk anymore. She stood up and walked out of the private room without even looking at Thea.

"Thea, I need some fresh air. I’ll be outside for a while."

"Hey, Chantie, they were just joking! Don’t take it seriously!"

"Ugh! Chantie’s upset because of all of you! I asked you to answer her seriously, not say stupid stuff. I should just sew your mouths shut!"

Thea scolded them sharply when Chantelle rushed out, and then she ran after her.

Chantelle had already left the bar and was now sitting alone by the flower bed outside.

Without realizing it, she felt restless and anxious.

She knew Daniel wouldn’t return Camille’s feelings, but it still made her angry.

Camille was a noble lady. What if Daniel ended up liking her?

W-Wait... Am I actually worried that Daniel might fall for Camille?

If that happened, she should feel relieved. Daniel wouldn’t chase after her anymore. She could leave him and take the kids away.

I’ve always wanted to leave, so why am I hesitating now that the chance is here?

Chantelle felt confused.

While she was lost in thought, she faintly heard the sound of a fight coming from a narrow alley near the bar.

She frowned subconsciously and was about to walk away to avoid trouble. But she stopped when she caught part of their conversation.

"You’re on my territory. If you don’t pay the protection fee, you’re going against the Wilson Family."

Chantelle became angry after hearing their conversation.

Who dares to use the Wilson family’s name like that?

She looked toward the alley and saw a group of men surrounding someone in a suit. It looked like a robbery.

Chantelle rushed over and grabbed the man, pulling him out before anyone had time to react.

Then she quickly threw a handful of small steel balls at the gangsters.

Smoke filled the air as the steel balls hit the ground, blurring everyone’s vision.

Chantelle took the chance to escape with the man from the alley.

Rowan had just arrived in Easthan and was on his way to meet someone.

But some thugs tried to rob him as he passed through the alley. They blocked his path, and he was ready to fight back.

Then, out of nowhere, Chantelle intervened to help him.

At first, he wanted to refuse her help, but the moment he saw her face, he changed his mind.

She dragged him along until they reached a side road away from the main street.

Chantelle looked around to make sure no one was following them. When she felt it was safe, she finally stopped.

"It should be safe here. Guys like you should be more careful outside."

As she talked, Chantelle couldn’t help but glance at him.

His face was sharp and handsome.

He looked elegant and refined. His suit was neat, and a gold-plated pocket watch peeked from his pocket.

Chantelle guessed he was a wealthy young man who had just come to town.

Hmm... why does he look familiar? He seems like a good guy.

"Are you still in shock? Do you want me to call a taxi for you?" she asked, a bit unsure since he kept staring at her.

"I’m safe, all thanks to you. May I know your name?" Rowan asked politely, giving her a small bow.

"We just met by chance, so there’s no need to share names. Since you’re fine, you should head home now." Chantelle looked him over and noticed his clothes were still neat. That meant the gangsters hadn’t gotten to him yet, so she decided to leave.

"H-Hey..." Rowan called out, but she was already walking away.

He stood still, watched her leave, and a faint smile formed at the corner of his lips.

Then, he turned and headed back to the alley.

The gangsters were still coughing from the smoke, and they were fuming in anger. None of them expected that the harmless man would come back.

All of them charged at him.

"Man, I’ve never seen anyone as dumb as you. Why come back after getting away?" Tony sneered and shouted, "Boys, the clueless rich guy is back—surround him!"

Tony was their leader. He used to be part of Steve’s gang.

After Kate’s cliff accident was ignored and Steve got arrested, Tony went into hiding in the countryside for a few days. Now, he was back and trying to take Steve’s place as the new boss.

They liked to hang around the bar, waiting for rich drunk people who were easy to trick and rob.

Even after sobering up, the rich drunkards never came back to look for them the next day.

They were so wealthy that losing some money didn’t bother them.

"I want my wallet back," Rowan didn’t waste any time. He told Tony what he wanted straight away.

Anger filled his eyes as he stared hard at Tony.
