Chapter 228: You Must Be Dreaming

Chapter 228: Chapter 228: You Must Be Dreaming

"Haha! Wallet? What wallet? All I know is you haven’t paid your protection fee yet. Since you’re here, hand over everything valuable you have. If not, don’t blame me for getting rough on you."

"I’ll say it again. Give me back my wallet," Rowan said, frowning hard.

"Are you deaf, you jerk? I told you to pay the protection fee. Forget your wallet. You must be dreaming. Ouch!"

Tony was about to grab Rowan’s collar in anger. But before he could do it, Rowan grabbed his wrist, and Tony let out a loud scream.

He didn’t even see how Rowan did it. All he felt was a sharp pain shoot through his wrist and a red cut appeared.

Within seconds, pain spread to the parts of his arm where the arteries were. It hurt like hell.

Fresh blood poured from all his wounds. He looked like a walking fountain of blood.

Everyone at the scene was stunned.

"You... what did you do to me?!"

Tony’s voice shook as he stared at him in fear.

While still talking, he suddenly felt blood spilling from his neck too.

His face turned as pale as paper.

Only one thought filled his mind.

Run!

But his body wouldn’t move. His legs were frozen in fear.

Tony’s hands were soaked in blood. Slowly, he pulled out a handkerchief from his pocket and carefully wiped them thoroughly.

"Give me back my wallet," Rowan said again.

"Okay, okay! I’ll give it back!" Tony panicked and yelled at his men. "What are you waiting for? Bring the wallet!"

He pressed his bloody hands against the wound on his neck. His face turned even paler as he became weaker.

Blood pooled at his feet. He was scared that if he didn’t give in soon, he’d collapse right there.

One of Tony’s men was shaking badly as he handed over the wallet.

The moment Rowan got it, the rest of them ran off in fear.

It was a black, stylish wallet. Rowan opened it and smiled softly when his fingers touched an old photo inside.

The photo showed a graceful woman with a sweet, gentle smile. She looked exactly like Chantelle.

He gently touched her face in the picture. Right away, he thought of the woman who had just saved him.

He had a strong feeling they’d cross paths again.

All of Tony’s men had already fled. Tony didn’t dare face Rowan alone.

"I gave your wallet back. I’ll leave now!" he said, trying to sound brave as he slowly backed away.

"Wait."

"Are you with the Wilsons?"

"Yes, sir." Tony had no idea why Rowan asked, but he lied anyway.

The Wilson family was the richest in Easthan. No one had the guts to mess with them.

Tony just wanted to survive.

Rowan frowned and tossed some cash from his wallet onto the ground.

"Pretending to be a Wilson will only get you killed faster. Take the money and disappear immediately."

After leaving Rowan, Chantelle headed to Cambria Bar to look for Thea.

She wasn’t a fan of bars, but she felt guilty for leaving Thea by herself.

After what happened at the alley, her mood had lifted. She no longer felt upset and even had a bit more energy.

She also started craving Thea’s cooking.

A few minutes later, Chantelle grabbed Thea, who was enjoying herself on the dance floor and dragged her out of the bar.

"Chantie, it’s been a while since I last came to a bar. I’m not done yet; I haven’t even had a drink!"

"Enough of that. Let’s go have some real fun!"

"What do you mean?" Thea asked, puzzled.

Chantelle started the engine and drove off without saying a word.

Thea had no idea where she was being taken, but she could tell Chantelle was in a much better mood.

As long as Chantie was happy, Thea didn’t mind going wherever she wanted.

But ten minutes later, she started to regret it. Chantelle parked right in front of the market.

"Chantie, I don’t think mini skirts are right for the market..."

"Maybe not, but I’m hungry."

"Uh, okay... if you say so." Thea gave in and decided to go with her.

It was Chantelle’s first time visiting the market since she got back from overseas. The busy crowd and the smoky scent from the food made her feel relaxed.

"Chantie, I’m starting to feel hungry too. Should we get some crayfish before heading back?"

The market was packed with seafood stalls.

Fresh seafood was cooked right after being sold, and sometimes the taste beat what you’d get at a restaurant.

The moment she entered the market, the smell of food hit her. She started to crave crayfish as soon as she saw a nearby stall.

"Okay, let’s get some crayfish."

"How about some barbecue too?"

"I heard the grilled sweet potatoes here are really good. They were even on one of those must-eat lists online!"

"Okay, we’ll get whatever you want."

"Hmm... Chantie, are you feeling better now?"

"I haven’t said yes to Daniel. He has the right to love someone else. And if that’s how it is, then fine. I’ll leave with the kids, and we’ll live our own lives."

"Poor Daniel," Thea muttered, shaking her head.

It was clear that Chantie still had feelings for him. But there were plenty of men out there—someone better would come along.

No matter who Chantelle chose to love, Thea would always support her.

As she thought about it, she quietly peeled some shrimp and placed them on Chantelle’s plate.

"Come on, Chantie. Crayfish solves everything! And if one plate isn’t enough, let’s go for two!"

Chantelle laughed at that.

Meanwhile, not far from them, Daniel and Philip were crouched behind a pile of spinach at a stall, secretly watching the two women.

"Daniel, are you sure this is a good idea?" Philip whispered. He peeked over Daniel’s shoulder while holding onto his arm.

"Can you stop clinging to me? This is so embarrassing," Daniel muttered as he tried to pull his arm away but Philip held on tightly.

"No way! That crazy woman is still here. I’m scared," Philip whispered, glancing nervously at Thea.

"If you’re that scared, why did you even come?" Daniel hissed. He pushed Philip aside so he could get a clearer look.

The market was packed. It was loud, and Daniel couldn’t hear what Chantelle and Thea were saying. That only made him more irritated.

"Uh..." Philip struggled to answer. Then he quickly changed the topic. "I saw Chantie was upset. As her friend, I thought I should care. You should apologize to her later when you two talk, okay?"
